I think I stopped an episode or so after that. As I recall, he wasn’t even reformed, he just realized that coopting the media through diplomacy was more effective.

Moral of the story? Sometimes life imitates art. And sometimes, it imitates bad TV.

That reminds me of that line by William Dafoe’s character on the Boondock Saints: ‘Where do you see stuff like this? Television! Bad television does stuff like this.’

You know, Alias was designed to be campy. It’s the love child of Man From U.N.C.L.E. and Mission Impossible. They even borrowed MI’s style of opening with a full scene before the intro theme. And to Jennifer Garner’s Napoleon Solo you have Michael Vartan’s Illya Kuryakin, and Victor Garber’s Mr. Waverly. At least in the last case, Garber looks a bit like Leo G. Carroll.

So I’m old.

I love Alias! It always kept me intrigued. Yes, it was Jennifer Garner – the very hot, lovely, Sydney. So tough, yet so vulnerable. The kind of woman I’m constantly attracted to. The plot? I really couldn’t care less.
