I agree entelechy, I couldn’t take watching the whole thing, it was sickening! Those trolls behind “Jabba-the-Hut” knodding in agreement to all her ignorant drivel, obviously their paycheck is more important to them than integrity, but then again they’re probably too ignorant to know the difference between BS and the truth!

So it is with steel. At near room temperature, steel resists bending, keeping its shape under heavy loads. In buildings, the steel is typically strong enough to hold 50% more load than its worst-case scenario. But when heated high enough, but still below its melting point, the steel can lose more than half its strength. And if the steel (as in beams) were forced to handle more than its normal load, say by the loss of other beams from a jumbo jet smashing into the building, the total strength left in the beam may be insufficient for the load.

This is why the towers fell. Nothing had to melt.

I’d like to add, steel doesn’t just melt, in a coal forge it can actually burn, it oxidizes to nothing.

You see, that catch-phrase is really a reference to the late Kate Smith singing at sporting events, it is about Brunhildde, who sings farewell amid the consuming flames of her funeral pyre in the final scenes of Wagner’s “The Valkyrie”. Yeah, the chick in the horned helmet and brass bra that appears in virtually every cartoon about opera.

I just couldn’t resist mentioning this. You don’t have to “melt” steel to weaken it. Melting means changing steel’s physical state from solid to liquid. However, solid steel has different properties at different temperatures, while still not being melted.

I’m sure that you could explain this to her in detail for hours on end, and her reaction would be something like, “Well, the Bushies let the Bin Laden family fly out of the country. Google it,” in spite of the fact that Richard Clarke approved their exit. The facts don’t really matter.

You can’t just discount the fact that she is a world renowned structural engineer. I hear she builds a mean gingerbread house. Of course I have no photographic evidence to support this, because according to unnamed sources inside The View, she usually eats the entire house before she’s finished building it, and then smokes a candy cigarette with satisfaction.

Can’t we find a way to keep such people off the internet?
