Maybe the Dems want to claim that by their micro-managing, President Bush was forced to “fix it in Iraq” so they deserve the credit for any successes.
Sounds lame, but if Clinton can claim without blushing that he reformed Welfare and without howls from the peanut gallery, then this pretzel twist isn’t impossible for the Dems/NYT.

Harry Reid and all the congressmen who voted to defund the war are seriously a deranged bunch, bought and paid for! These events have been occuring over a period of nine or ten months. These guys are privy to this information, or at least their committie members are. Reid knew about the NYT peice probably and then spouted his “We have lost this war” bilge. Reid is an insult to the intelligence of the American people. I think Harry Reid should resign immediatley!

There’s the key to getting the real story. They were with the troops, rather than relying on stringers while sitting in the Green Zone. The fact that they felt it was safe enough to venture out with the troops speaks volumes.
