New York Times(!): Turnaround in Al-Anbar

No one thinks it’s Switzerland, and no one thinks what progress we’ve made is stable. But we have made progress, and the NYT admits as much in a long article in today’s paper:
Yet for all the indications of a heartening turnaround in Anbar, the situation, as it appeared during more than a week spent with American troops in Ramadi and Falluja in early April, is at best uneasy and fragile.
Heartening indeed. Read the whole thing for more heartening, and remember that Mohammed Abdullah Abbas Al Issawi won’t be there to regret it.
