[...] This is just another startling development in the troubling story Hot Air covers about the jaw-dropping trade of Qais Khazali for Peter Moore Remember Qais Khazali? We wrote about him a bunch in early 2007. He used to be an al-Sadr deputy, then broke away and hooked up with Iran to start his own little mini-Hezbollah. That group, the “League of the Righteous,” ended up pulling off one of the most notorious, sophisticated anti-American operations of the Iraq war in Karbala. The toll: Five Americans murdered, four of them after they were kidnapped, bound, and shot in the head like animals. U.S. troops caught up to Khazali two months later and captured him and his brother; the ID cards of several dead American soldiers were recovered at the scene. No less a figure than David Petraeus went on to blame the Karbala raid squarely on Khazali’s outfit and accused Iran’s Quds Force — the creme de la creme of the Revolutionary Guard, responsible for assisting Iranian proxy jihadis like Hezbollah in other countries — of bankrolling the whole thing.
[...] Iran has been fighting a proxy war against us since 1979. Who are the proxies? Terrorists - Hezbollah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad - all of these organizations received training and/or funding via Iran. In addition, Iran supports al Sadr’s Mahdi Army and al Qaeda. Michelle Malkin reports on the latest blood on the Iranian’s hands. Given the spectacular success Iran has had with building a Shiite proxy in Lebanon, it only stands to reason that they’d want their new proxies in Iraq to benefit from their expertise. Call it “cross-pollination.” As for Khazali, regular HA readers will remember our posts about him in March and, more recently, Petraeus naming him as the prime suspect in the same Karbala raid that this turd Daqduq was evidently involved in. From the very beginning, the unusual professionalism and subterfuge of that operation — the attackers spoke English and wore stolen American uniforms — had the military suspicious of an Iranian hand in it. [...]

[...] He mentions Iranian camps at which Iraqi Shiites are being trained to kill U.S. troops, but doesn’t say which he has in mind. Could be the one outside Tehran that the Times of London reported on in April. Or it could be the one in Ahwaz where, coincidentally, you’ll find a replica of the layout of the government complex in Karbala — the same complex where five U.S. soldiers were captured and murdered in January during a mysterious raid which Petraeus himself has blamed on the Iranian-backed Khazali network and the Quds Force. (That’s the same Khazali network U.S. troops have been targeting in Sadr City over the past few months.) Or maybe he’s thinking of some other camp where they train Hezbollah to operate the 20,000 missiles they’re reported to have amassed in souther Lebanon, right under the nose of the UN and the Lebanese army.
[...] Adnan al-Dulaimi is a prominent Sunni MP, but I doubt he’s related to this guy. The Karbala operation has long been thought to have Iranian fingerprints on it and been executed by a network loyal to a breakaway wing of the Mahdi Army.
Jihad knows no country. Or national name.

Islamofascism may have as many heads as a hydra, but they al beat to the same psychotic, teroristic heart.

At the level of the Jihad, there are no "Iranians", only jihadist Muslims. There are no "Iraqis", no "Pakistanis", no "Moroccans", no "Syrians", no "Palestinians", no "Afghanis". Only radical jihadis.

Different tentacles of the same homicidal Beast.

The Jihad.

This mistaking of the limbs for individual actors is the continuing folly of the West.

And the jihadis from each area play upon the short-sightedness of the believers in countries (and not the Ummah) to feint and weave and dodge and distract.

Strike at the heart, ignore the weaving arms.
They die when the heart stops.

gmcjetpilot,

Every time you reach over to hit the CAPS LOCK key you spill some Kool Aid.

"They got lucky on 9/11"??? We ignored the threat 'way over there' in Afghanistan, allowing AQ to plan and execute the 9/11 atrocity. But if we leave Iraq, they won't set up the same terror breeding ground in our absence? Heck, even Michael Ware knows that.

Run run run like little scared girls, waaaaaaa Iran is going to be a super power, THE DEMS are going to let them, cry cry cry OH NO RUN RUN RUN its terrible we are all going to die. SHUT UP.

All this coward BULL. All this ONLY the Republicans understand the threat, to vote democrat is to die, the terrorist will ATTACK us if we elect a DEM president, is self serving bull. Iran BY THE WAY is many many many years from haveing a nuke. You know we will bomb the crap out of them before that happens but WE HAVE TIME. Relax all you FEAR MONGER FOOLS.

DO YOU GUYS HAVE A CLUE? BIG FREAKING DEAL Iran is in Iraq. Iran is trying to influence Iraq? NO KIDDING. Iran would like us to leave? NO KIDDING. As every nation done this? USSR in afghanistan, USA supported Osama Bin Laden. Vietnam? China supported them against the US. Korea? USSR and China supported N Korea against the USA. We, America, have supported one side in all kinds of wars, coups, overthrows and all manner of governments. NOW YOU ARE surprised or predicted the OBVIOUS. Please.

You all give so much terror and credit to a bunch of people that blow them self up for a hummer in heaven. They got lucky on 9/11 with box cutters and we where sleeping at the switch. Rice had a report "Osama Bin Laden determined to attack America". Ignored. Not saying they are not dangerous but last I checked Al Qaeda does not have a Navy or Air Force, nor are they going to swim across the Atlantic. Being in Iraq does not KEEP them from coming HERE. Another Lie and Fear Tactic the GOP uses to control the country. It just means we WASTE american lives and BILLIONS every week to have them shot at in the middle of a civil war. No one knows what will happen but we will try to keep Iran OUT and support the SIDE we want to win, but some one will win. It will be a blood bath but ITS THAT ALREADY, just right now its costing us lives and treasure.

Why is that not an act of war?

I am not suggesting that it means the US has to go to war...there are many and varied possible responses. But at least characterize the situation truthfully.

We don't have to worry about our troops fighting in a civil war in Iraq. By this time next year they will be home fighting one here.

I think we now know why Harry "I'm a god damn traitor" Reid and Taliban Nancy refused to attend Petraeus briefing. They must have known that he was going to implicate Iran and they didn’t want to have to take action against their benefactors.

Well, despite the mouth-foaming that you will get from the Reid-Pelosi-O'Donnell (Lawrence and Rosie)-Dellums Democrats, we obviously need to send a few non-nuke cruise missiles into the military bases of Iran to destroy some air capability.

It will make a lot of people unhappy, but they can all GFTs. What Quds did is a clear act of war -- the 34th by my count -- against our great country without so much as a whimper so far. Time to bring this to a head and draw out the rats in Tehran.

Harry Reid won’t ever know that since he isn’t speaking to any military riff-raff in Iraq. He’s getting his intel from Cindy Sheehan and Sean Penn.

Iran is a nuclear super power in the Middle East (let’s just cut to the chase) and does whatever they want. I’m sure Israel, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Jordon, Kuwait and the rest of them are all waiting for the other shoe to drop…….meanwhile the United States elects the biggest supporters of Islamic Jihad since the Taliban. The only hope now for freedom loving people in the West is Israel. Hopefully they will put our weapons to good use.

Bush unfortunately has zero credibility. He's not a winner, either, which is why he can't do anything about Iran. It's a shame, too.
