Taliban Zarqawi: Osama is directing operations in Iraq and Afghanistan

Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden is orchestrating militants’ operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, a senior commander of Afghan Islamist group Taliban said in remarks broadcast on Wednesday.
Bin Laden has not made any video statements for many months raising speculation that he might have died.
“He is drawing plans in Iraq and Afghanistan … Praise God he is alive,” Mullah Dadullah told Al Jazeera television…
“Do you remember the martyrdom operation inside the Bagram base which targeted a senior American official … this operation was the result of blessed plans put by him,” Dadullah said. Jazeera said the U.S. official Dadullah was referring to was Cheney.
“He (bin Laden) guided us through it,” he said, adding that no Afghan would have been able to penetrate the base if it was not for the world’s most wanted militant.
That’s stupid. Plus, Cheney wasn’t even supposed to be at Bagram on the day it was attacked; by his own admission he stayed there for an extra day only after bad weather forced him to postpone his trip to Kabul. For Osama to have ordered the hit, a tipster inside Bagram would have needed to be privy to Cheney’s sudden change of plans, relayed the information somehow — presumably by courier — to Osama’s purported HQ in the Pakistani tribal areas, and then the order itself would have had to have been sent somehow to the bomber, who’d naturally need some time to prepare. All in the span of about 18 hours. Ain’t happening unless Osama’s using a cell phone, and I think it’s safe to say he isn’t. Makes for some good boogeyman propaganda, though.
The more interesting aspect of this is who Al Jazeera’s source is — Mullah Dadullah, the “Taliban Zarqawi” who’s supposed to be holed up in a village somewhere right now and surrounded by Afghan troops. The Reuters article doesn’t explicitly say when the interview was recorded, so it’s possible it’s been in the can for awhile and Al Jazeera’s just doing him a solid by airing it now, when the walls are closing in. AJ’s own report, however, states that “Dadullah said in the interview on Wednesday that Bin Laden planned and supervised the ’suicide’ operation which targeted Dick Cheney, the US vice-president.” That seems to suggest it was recorded today. Which means he’s not in the village. As expected.

Seems like we’ve “progressed” to the point of re-cycling. Any minute we’ll be hearing about stashes of weapons of mass destruction.

Osama’s an all-purpose bad guy. When we finally want to invade Iran, I’m sure we’ll find that Osama is directing operations there, too. Is there anything he can’t do?

Osama, not Bush, was also responsible for hurricane Katrina, the San Francisco earthquakes (1906 and 1989), the Johnston Flood, and the Chicago Fire of 1871.
I’m impressed.

No, what we’ve been hearing about ad nauseum for the last 24 hour news cycle has been Waxmanpig’s investigative hearings into the Jessica Lynch rescue and the friendly fire death of Pat Tillman. Talk about recycling. These are old, old news stories have only been raised from the dead to satisfy Waxmanpig’s appetite for political witch hunts.
Since Waxmanpig is obsessed with dredging up old news stories to get to the truth of the matter, why doesn’t he recycle the Chappiquidick tragedy and investigate the bizarre behavior of Ted the Swimmer following the drowning of Mary Jo?
Oh wait. Teds a donk, his free pass was issued years ago. But somehow Bush and Cheney are responsible for Pat Tillman’s death.
Now, who was it, who was at the scene of the crime, Bush, Cheney or Ted?
fogw on April 25, 2007 at 1:14 PM
Let’s see. The military makes up stories from whole cloth with regard to Tillman and Lynch. By you, this logically leads to the question of why Congress doesn’t look into Teddy’s past.
And you talk about BDS. Wow.
honora on April 25, 2007 at 1:29 PM
AP, you give the Dems who hate Cheney too little credit.
CliffHanger on April 25, 2007 at 1:30 PM
As a matter of fact it is completely logical, since Ted made up his story from whole cloth as well.
Duh. Let the hearing begin.
fogw on April 25, 2007 at 1:38 PM
yeah osama and co are running operations with men on horseback lol. Righhhhhhhtttt. I think he’s 6 feet under or we’d have seen his ugly mug by now.
Highrise on April 25, 2007 at 1:40 PM
No it just means that the democratic party has gone wholesale into McCarthyism. They want to investigate even tiny worthyless matter. (who cares we know that Tillman died from freindly fire and that Jessica Lynch didnt fire a shot in her defense. These are first hand battlefeild reports. We cant even get accurate info in DAYS from the VA Tech shootings and you and the liberals seem to feel that there is some super conspiracy that we didnt get accurate info about those two events within HOURS)
The dems want to run their witchhunts because they have no agenda other than attacking Bush. This is only more proof. I sincerly wait to hear them start asking “Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Republican party ?”
I really hope we hit back on their insane antics

KelliD on April 25, 2007 at 2:04 PM
Hold on there Sparky. The Tillman and Lynch fictions were put out by, and hung onto, by the military for literally years. You don’t think it should be looked into, fine. Tell that to the Tillman family, they seem to hold a different view. (Perhaps you could use your Teddy bit to persuade them to see things your way? Who could not bow to such a reasonable argument?)

I refuse to belive that elected leaders portray untruths. No way.
Seriously. Whats the point of the “My parties guys tell less fibs than yours!!” game? Usually, when I get into a mindless contest, it’s who can drink more.
Ringmaster on April 25, 2007 at 2:10 PM
Nevermind the sidebars of the MSM’s tireless news recycling. Why in the world would our Coalition forces allow the Afghan army to take the lead in surrounding such a high-value target as Dadullah? Now it seems he’s sipping chai and waxing eloquent about OBL to Reuters.
Nice.

Osama has rung down the curtain and joined the bleedin’ choir invisibule.
Attila (Pillage Idiot) on April 25, 2007 at 2:34 PM
Ooh.. I almost missed this one.
What exactly about Tillman and Lynch did the military make up?
Whatever stories originally started about these two, it is military investigations that are uncovering the truth about what really happened to these two.
Where is the national media in all this? Why, they are defending they’re reporting of all the false unconfirmed junk speculated by the earliest rumors.

Do you involuntarily think “Fe Fi Fo Fullah” after you type his name?
Tanya on April 25, 2007 at 5:46 PM
honora must serve in a different military than I do… strange. I seem to remember an awful lot of Katrina-canibalism-in-the-Dome type hype from the press, but damned little from the Army or CENTCOM re: PVT Lynch. SPC TIllman being a blue-on-blue is years old news, honroa. Maybe your experience with an intial AR 15-6 investigation is different than mine.
The further investigations keep getting reset because no scalps have been had yet…nobody will be happy until someone gets the axe. Just or not…
BTW – I am glad to see somebody besides yours truly who thinks that Osama has been Purina Vulture Chow for some time now. Allah willing and the wadi don’t rise, Mullah Dadullah will be joining him soon.

The Kurds nor the Iranians didn’t hear about them, until WMD exploded in their streets.

Bin Yeti?
I think it’s silly to think that Bin Laden is holding up in some mountain cave.
He is either dead and they want his legend to be bigger than life, or he has been given safe harbor in Iran. Both are extremely more likely than some idea that he is living in a cave like the Yeti!
I think the Bin Laden legend is just as fantastic as is the Yeti legend. You have the high mounatains that sustain little life, rare and selective sightings by only those that are self proclaimed chosen ones. We have technology and manpower scouring these mountains and cannot find either, yet both are said to exist in a hostile environment where by eating rocks and appearing and dissapearing at will.
No, I think if Bin Laden can live in these mountains, than so can the Yeti!
Bearhopi on April 25, 2007 at 7:16 PM
Maybe we could get a yeti to eat UBL then? :)
major john on April 25, 2007 at 7:22 PM
Yeti!
Bin Laden reduced to occasional B/W photos of his melting tracks on the cover of National Inquirer … works for me!
naliaka on April 25, 2007 at 7:44 PM
Watch out for those yeti droppings. (Hmmm. No wonder that the eyewitness accounts sometimes make mention of an incredibly foul smell that accompanies sasquatch sightings.)
