Rosie makes it official: “The View” now to be Truther-free; Update: Video added

posted at 11:28 am on April 25, 2007 by Allahpundit
Send to a Friend | printer-friendly

I’ve got video coming from the show and of Trump reacting on Fox News, but it’ll be a little while. In the meantime, the question of the hour: who’s going to replace her? Slublog suggested Saran Sarandon but I think this is below her pay grade. Tanya suggested Shannen Doherty, but one willowy Republican babe on the show is probably all they’re budgeted for. God help me, but I think Unstable Mable might be irreplaceable.

I’m going to go put on “Plastic Ono Band” and rock back and forth while I try to pretend this isn’t happening. Thank heavens I’m on vacation next week. I need the recuperation time.

Update: Oh god, no. Please, no.

Update: Oh dear god. NO.

cho1.jpg

Update: Here’s the vid. It’s low key except for where Rosie wipes some snot or spittle or something off Barbara’s face. The good news? She’ll be guest-hosting frequently next year. Or rather, she thinks she’ll be guest-hosting frequently. I bet Barbara’s already had the name plate on her office door changed.

Her image fades but the poetry remains, my friends. Rupert Murdoch as Mr. Freeze and Rosie as Batman, punctuated by a plaintive, poignant “WTF!!!!!!!”? What dulcet sounds are these?

Update: Here’s the Trump video from Fox News this morning. It’s the standard “Rosie’s a smelly pig who’ll fail in everything she does” bit, but it’s like Chapelle doing Rick James — no matter how many times you hear it, it’s still gold.

Which Beatle is Rosie? Ringo?

Attila (Pillage Idiot) on April 25, 2007 at 11:30 AM

kiakjones in the other thread has a good (and plausible) thought - Whoopi Goldberg.

Slublog on April 25, 2007 at 11:31 AM

OH NOES!! :(

dead-duck on April 25, 2007 at 11:33 AM

MENDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOZA!

saint kansas on April 25, 2007 at 11:34 AM

Whoopi Goldberg

To bring some much needed political balance to the show.

The ole well dried up. [sigh] It’s hard out there for a pimp.

Ten bucks it is a muslim.

Limerick on April 25, 2007 at 11:39 AM

Several months ago Whoopie started a morning radio show (KKSF 103.7 San Francisco)It is a smooth Jazz station. I don’t know if she would have the time to sit on the view or if her radio contract would allow it.

allie on April 25, 2007 at 11:42 AM

I’m telling you, Camryn Manheim gets the nod. Mark my words.

Also, no one notices any difference once she does.

….what? Yoko is replacing Rosie and Allah is thankful to Heaven?

I need more coffee…..

infidel4life on April 25, 2007 at 11:47 AM

ABC’s already piloting a revamped View on the web.

saint kansas on April 25, 2007 at 11:49 AM

God, not Whoopie. At least Rosie was funny, when she wasn’t busy being batsh*t crazy.

Tanya on April 25, 2007 at 11:50 AM

I’m guessing it’ll be Allah’s girlfriend Jane Hamesher (sp?)

If it’s Hirsaan Ali or Wafa Sultan, I might even tune in.

Hell, a man can dream, can’t he?

After last week, no Korean named Cho’s got a shot in hell!

Dread Pirate Roberts VI on April 25, 2007 at 11:55 AM

They’ll prolly invite Sheehan to host. After all, she should be cheap since she’s still on that hundred day fast. She doesn’t require a lot.

Enoxo on April 25, 2007 at 11:57 AM

Update: Oh dear god. NO.

So are you saying that it is not yet time (too soon) to expand the boundaries of the newly coined term “psy-cho”?

Hmmm. Maybe the ladies should sign-off of “The View” every broadcast day with a group hug. Ya’ think?

(Pardon me. I am feeling nauseous. Sometimes my own caustic remarks make me sick.)

CyberCipher on April 25, 2007 at 11:58 AM

Amy Sedaris would be a stitch (also smart and pretty), and she’d probably accept the job on a lark. Anyone know her politics?

Tanya on April 25, 2007 at 11:59 AM

I’m telling you, Camryn Manheim gets the nod. Mark my words.

Kensington on April 25, 2007 at 11:46 AM

That was hilarious!

Amy Sedaris would be a stitch (also smart and pretty), and she’d probably accept the job on a lark. Anyone know her politics?

I hate to stereotype, but how could she not be a leftist?

Kensington on April 25, 2007 at 12:01 PM

Lizzy outfit is VERY nice.
What was this thread about again?

CyberCipher on April 25, 2007 at 12:03 PM

It’s funny, after Rosie announced she threw up her hand as if to tell the audience, oh please don’t beg me to stay. I didn’t even hear a groan from them. As for Elizabeth’s catalyst remark, well, never mind. I guess people always say nice things to people when they are leaving. I have to wonder, though, if Barbara really did have a part in the decision.

Glynn on April 25, 2007 at 12:05 PM

Rachel Marsden!

Seriously, whoever they get will no doubt be appropriately leftist in her beliefs, but won’t make much noise about it. Which is fine, as it means we’ll all be able to just go back to not even being reminded that this program exists.

Blacklake on April 25, 2007 at 12:05 PM

Camryn Mannheim’s politics might be a match for Rosie’s, but at least she has talent, and I suspect has a basic comprehension of polite discourse.

Freelancer on April 25, 2007 at 12:05 PM

It’s funny, after Rosie announced she threw up her hand as if to tell the audience, oh please don’t beg me to stay. I didn’t even hear a groan from them.

Not only that, there was at least one audible “whoo!” when Rosie said that she wouldn’t be there every day.

Kensington on April 25, 2007 at 12:08 PM

I guess my weekly letters to ABC that I would not watch anything they put on TV until she was gone worked after all…

Kaptain Amerika on April 25, 2007 at 12:08 PM

We’ve got to get O’Reilly’s body language expert to analyze Barbara’s facial expressions while she braces for Rosie’s announcement.

TheBigOldDog on April 25, 2007 at 12:10 PM

Amy Sedaris would be a stitch (also smart and pretty), and she’d probably accept the job on a lark. Anyone know her politics?
Tanya on April 25, 2007 at 11:59 AM

I think she’s a liberal. David Sedaris hints at it in writing about how he and Amy disagree with their father, who was a strong Bush supporter.

Slublog on April 25, 2007 at 12:12 PM

I am betting it will be Pelosi’s daughter wearing a hijab. Maybe Yvonne Ridley? ewwwww

CrimsonFisted on April 25, 2007 at 12:14 PM

They need someone young, and libertarian.

Stormy70 on April 25, 2007 at 12:16 PM

Rachel Marsden!

Blacklake on April 25, 2007 at 12:05 PM

My first thought was, “NO, a Candian with an IQ around 90 (even lower considering the exchange rate) is not a good choice.” Then I thought, “hell, I never watch the view, and they’d get a (hopefully) better replacement on a show I do watch, so yes, Rachel would be a great choice.”

mattshu on April 25, 2007 at 12:18 PM

Rachael Ray?

Why not, she’s everywhere else.

Slublog on April 25, 2007 at 12:19 PM

I suggest a herbal scrub and a pedicure, that’ll fix you up real good.

Who’s Saran Sarandon? Dammit Janet?

I thought you are an atheist?

But… can The View do worse that Rosie?

I’m afraid we will find out sooner than later.

Drtuddle on April 25, 2007 at 12:28 PM

Darn it - my trackbacks to the two Rosie posts at HA aren’t showing up for some reason :(

Whoever they pick to replace Rosie, I think it’d be cool if the person was similar to Rosie in her ’style’ because - as I said at my blog this morning - Rosie, IMO, is the face of today’s left and so rarely do we get a daily view (no pun intended) of how far Democrats have sank from anyone else (unless you’re an avid CSPAN watcher).

SisterToldjah on April 25, 2007 at 12:32 PM

But… can The View do worse than Rosie?

They certainly could do better than Whoopie and Cho.

Cho, by the way, is simply the Asian version of Rosie.

CliffHanger on April 25, 2007 at 12:35 PM

Trump and Howard Stern think that anything that happens in the world is a function of something they did. Since Trump took all the kudos for the success of “The Apprentice,” I want to see who he blames now that this year’s season bombed, and I’ll be surprised if they do another one of these next year…unless it’s in the summer, like they do with “Big Brother.”

Camryn Manheim is an interesting choice…I guess I still wouldn’t watch the show, but I can imagine she’s another fat liberal loudmouth.

I’d like to see it be Connie Chung, and I think she was one of the “finalists” last time. But if they’re looking for a “catalyst” as Elisabeth Hasselback says, then I doubt it would be Connie.

I agree.

Glynn on April 25, 2007 at 12:37 PM

Ann Coulter?

She’d bring in the ratings but I don’t think the network is ready for such a large demographic swing in their viewership.

CliffHanger on April 25, 2007 at 12:39 PM

In the meantime, the question of the hour: who’s going to replace her?

Alex Jones in drag?

‘There is a war on for your mind.

Hmmmm…I might like to see Margaret Cho!

Whoopi would be a good choice, although I really don’t like her.

Actually, I just thought of someone that would be among the most horrible:

JEANENE GARAFALO!!!

asc85 on April 25, 2007 at 12:40 PM

Ooops…make that

JANEANE Garafalo

asc85 on April 25, 2007 at 12:42 PM

Trump cracks me up. If you were unfortunate enough to catch that wrestling thing (I don’t know what to call it…) you really have to laugh when you hear him defame anyone, for any reason, at any time. (On the other hand, he does think Bush is a complete failure, so there is that…..) ;^)

SisterToldjah on April 25, 2007 at 12:45 PM

We need someone as crazy as Rosie who is also able to play the Absolute Morality Card.

Solution:

Three hundred pound, right-wing persecuted, newly Muslim revert, newly announced lesbian, post operative transgendered Trixie (nee Noam) Chomsky.

Canadian Infidel on April 25, 2007 at 12:48 PM

Absolute Morality Card?

Only one candidate.

Cindy Sheehan.

You have to admit, Rosie threads were some of the largest, and funniest.

Fox is saying that it was between Rosie’s reps and ABC — Barbara had no say in it. They wanted a 3-year contract and she would only accept one year. Is all that on the video?

I can’t properly express how ashamed I am, that I’m actually following this.

Tanya on April 25, 2007 at 1:28 PM

replace Rosie with another Rose, Rosanne Barr. She a veteran failed tv talk show host.

vcferlita on April 25, 2007 at 1:32 PM

Isn’t Cho also a “truther?” What difference is it going to make if you replace one far left wing fanatical kook with another?

Capitalist Infidel on April 25, 2007 at 1:32 PM

I don’t watch the view…have no need to. I would like to know the demographics of those who do watch the view. Is it the same crowd that used to watch the likes of Ricki Lake?

At any rate…a show like that needs the class clown which Rosie filled that niche. So they need another class clown. This means someone with a big mouth who is always sticking their paw in it. Who comes to mind?

1. Hillary “the chameleon” Clinton
2. Barbara Streisand
3. Margaret Cho (though she is a “sellout” because she married a white guy)
4. Cindy Sheehan

serenevalley on April 25, 2007 at 1:34 PM

rosie, don’t let the door hit your big ego on the way out!

I was laughing when barbara had to look down and read her cards saying nice stuff about rosie. The pauses where she does them seems obvious she is trying hard to play a poker face. The audience said nothing when rosie said she was leaving.

I think they simply told rosie, time for you to go…we can make this painful or we can make it painless. Well, Trump called it!

Highrise on April 25, 2007 at 1:35 PM

Until they took joy off, I couldn’t watch it anyway no matter who they got unless it was a bulldog Republican that would work joy off the set. She still makes the show nasty.

Highrise on April 25, 2007 at 1:36 PM

..on ‘The View,’ we find ourselves unable to agree on some key elements.”…

what an understatement. Tehran Rosie has no ethics, therefore all ‘key elements’ are incompatible.

I think France wants her. Send Rosie to France.
Hey,anyone own sendrosietofrance.com yet? now THATS a rain-maker.

shooter on April 25, 2007 at 1:40 PM

I can’t wait to see where Rosie ends up next! How’s that acting career going? Got any made-for-TV movies lined up? How about doing one about a mentally-challenged, over weight lesbian who can’t get people to accept the truth about 9/11. She can even ride a bus…….just to keep her carbon footprint down.

Oh, and you want some real “body language”? The O’Reilly segments are getting pretty stupid. I’m sorry but that “expert” offers absolutely no insight beyond what the average person could and it’s starting to get annoying.

That said, look at Hasselbeck when she talks in the farewell video. Crossed arms is a defensive and standoffish signal. She’s not feeling the same sadness the others are. There isn’t some sisterly bond with Rosie. She hates her as much as ever. Then she touches her face. We all know how to spot someone lying when they do this. Hasselbeck is trying to compliment Rosie in a roundabout way when she latches on to her chin. She also rushes off at the end of her sentence “what do your kids think” because she realizes the “nice nice” is coming of as manufactured as it is.
