Hirsi Ali is no longer a Muslim (I believe she is non-religious), and this is the specific reason for the death threats. Leaving Islam (apostasy) is punishable by death.

The Imam has been pretty honest about this, so the more he talks, the better.

He is telling muslims to kill her. And he made no bones about it. That will make him an accessory if she is murdered. Fouad ElBayly ought to be indicted for making the threats.

I think he should be arrested and tried for the threats, and then deported back to Egypt immediately after he completes his sentence.

Excellent post Morganfrost and that is why there is such an uproar over religion in general these days. It’s being seen as people trying to change other people and basically not practicing what they preach. The question I have is why do so many outlets (Libs, main stream media etc.) give the Islamic cult (I mean religion) a free ride and continuously bash JudeoChristian religions. Is it fear of the Islamists? Is it the resentment of being “preached down” to for centuries while those preaching didn’t practice by the Christians? Food for though.

In other news, a series of fatwas have been issued against people around the globe who have suggested that Muslims have no sense of irony.

exactly. Who are these women dressing for? Other women, or men? If the point of the muslim dress code is to make the feminine body less appealing, then this makes no sense. Is this a sneaky way for the women to eventually abandon this absurd notion of covering the body? maybe. maybe it’s a baby step – shorten the skirt, wear over jeans, a little tighter, headscarf a little smaller – eventually, remove the headscarf, just wear a baseball cap. anyway, you get the point.

That was my point about being like Jews. I’m not knocking my religion, but there sure is some of that in Judaism.

There is no freedom in Islam, only bondage to legalism and death, both spiritually and physically.

I suspect the point is to comply with Muslim law, and once you do that, it’s OK.

But what’s the point of the Muslim law? Modesty, no? They’re following the letter but not the spirit.

Perhaps the Islamists (and the rest of us, for that matter) would do better to focus our religious thoughts on making ourselves better, rather than on making others more compliant.
