They’re calling it the biggest story to come out of that country in decades. It’s a lot bigger than that, though, isn’t it? I don’t think Haiti’s ever seen a story this big.

If only we knew what it was.

This is so close to the real CNN that’s it’s hardly a lampoon.

jjjen on April 23, 2007 at 10:04 PM

Priceless. I loved the RIP part.

Glynn on April 23, 2007 at 10:05 PM

How is this any different than any CNN report?

amerpundit on April 23, 2007 at 10:15 PM

I go to church with people who have e-mailed Onion stories around, warning the faithful against some faux boogeyman. The Onion is a scream. Good link, AP.

Jaibones on April 23, 2007 at 10:25 PM

Cue the music, “This is CNN………”

PinkyBigglesworth on April 23, 2007 at 10:34 PM

Did ja catch the ticker “International Grocer’s Association convenes to set 2007 ham prices”. I smell riots, or is that bacon.

It would be funny if it weren’t so true.

What?!! You mean this wasn’t real? I am sure that I caught this story on CNN just last … or maybe it was another story … or two … or twelve… sure did look like this (as I was changing channels.)

Mazztek on April 23, 2007 at 11:21 PM

Not necessarily that original, as The Chaser used to have CNNNN a few years ago

That being said, the fact that they’re no longer doing CNNN makes this a rather good replacement. I’ve liked what I’ve seen thus far, anyway

This perfectly captions the role of the MSM as the foolish, conclusion jumping buffoons that they are.

georgej on April 24, 2007 at 4:33 AM

It took me a while to realize it was a spoof. That’s exactly how they report.

The death toll right now is 0, but that number could multiply any moment!

Yes and we watch anyway. The fun is in digging through the conclusion jumping and bias to decipher what really happened.

I finally added The Onion to my bookmarks.

They really earned it with this one.

TheSev on April 24, 2007 at 11:56 AM

Totally hilarious. I can’t get over how much funnier their videos are than their (recent) print work.
