VRWC memo: “Silky Pony” to be retired (UPDATE: Why so expensive?)

Memo

From: VRWCHQ
To: Our minions
Re: John Edwards’ nickname

It has come to our attention that most of you are still referring to Democratic presidential contender John Edwards as “Silky Pony“. As excellent and chuckleworthy as that may be, time moves on, new scandals emerge, and new sobriquets must be bestowed. Besides, “Silky Pony” has been criticized as both misogynist and homophobic.

So, for reasons explained by our capable co-conspirator Mr. Barnett, “Silky Pony” shall henceforth be referred to as “Pink Sapphire“.

Your compliance in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

(signed)
Zombie Reagan
VRWC Conspirator in Chief

UPDATE: Some commenters are wondering why the bill atthe Pink Sapphire was so expensive when none of the services they offer runs $400. Well, either Edwards went there on more than one occasion and got a load of fine-gauge loofah work done-

-or he was actually going there for one of their “off the books” treatments…like the Pelosi Special.

LOL!!! It’s early in the morning and what a way to start the day. Pink Sapphire it is.

I always thought of him as “fools gold”…

JetBoy on April 21, 2007 at 6:46 AM

It’s Democrat party, not Democratic party. Go back to school……no, wait.

Coronagold on April 21, 2007 at 6:50 AM

Will he get a kickback, or at least an occasional freebie bikini wax? Gotta look right in the Presidential Speedo!

Minion Anton reporting for duty sir!

/salutes

Directive duly noted! Will comply sir!

Anton on April 21, 2007 at 7:08 AM

Up yours, CW. His new name is Hairdo.

And the $400 number can only be achieved by adding a little color, as they say in the business. Like anyone doesn’t know this fag is having his hair colored…

Jaibones on April 21, 2007 at 7:12 AM

Sorry, but I’m still calling him Breck Girl.

steveegg on April 21, 2007 at 7:14 AM

What!!!! I can’t call him My Little Silk Pony anymore? Is there some sort of waiver for those who live in North Carolina, and about 20 miles or so from his poor man’s house? :)

How about Breck Girl?

William Teach on April 21, 2007 at 7:34 AM

NOW can we call him a faggot? Ann had it right the whole time. Edwards is a straight up panty-waist sissy-mary!

There is something definately “off” about a man that has to primp his hair to bolster his self esteem. Can you imagine what this limp-wrist would be doing if North Korea threanted the US with him as president? He’d be furiously bushing his hair waiting for the situation to be solved while thinking “happy thoughts”.

csdeven on April 21, 2007 at 7:48 AM

Sorry, He’ll always be “asswipe” too me.

dingoatemebaby on April 21, 2007 at 8:04 AM

csdeven, you just conjured an image of Elizabeth sprinkling “pixie dust” all over the Oval Office. Ugh.

Wade on April 21, 2007 at 8:45 AM

I must admit, though, that I do enjoy stylist Torrenueva’s invocation of barber-client privilege.

Heh. Indeed.

Kralizec on April 21, 2007 at 9:08 AM

Giuliani in drag, Edwards at the spa….are there no men of presidential calibre today? Somehow I can’t see Fred Thompson going to anyplace called “Pink Sapphire”.

Did he get a “happy ending” massage?

And does he tip with a $3 bill?

Ann Coulter was right.

doingwhatican on April 21, 2007 at 9:25 AM

Got it, thanks for the update, SeeDub.

Long live the VRWC!

Sorry. Silky Pony just works too well.

I think it’s the “silky” part. He’s just so … silky.

I’d really like to pet his fur. But I’m not paying $400 to do it.

Professor Blather on April 21, 2007 at 11:14 AM

Silky Pony and Breck Girl are just too ingrained to change now.

“Pink Silky Sapphire Breck Girl Pony” or f@ggot for short.

Mallard T. Drake on April 21, 2007 at 11:48 AM

As a constituent of NC…this guy will always be “Arrogant A$$hole” to me. But then I never switched to Silky Pony. Have occasionally used “Breck Girl”.

Pink Sapphire? Sorry, but no. I can think of a better P word, but it ain’t “pink”.

tickleddragon on April 21, 2007 at 11:54 AM

Oh…how about PUNK Sapphire. I like that better.

tickleddragon on April 21, 2007 at 11:54 AM

The emperor’s new clothes it is then. Now I have to send back all this Silky Pony stuff I bought on Ebay. There goes protesting that rally.

How do I get on the VRWC mailing list?

I feel I’m missing out on the right’s version of Townhouse.

John on April 21, 2007 at 12:36 PM

MirCat,

Sad to say that’s a fairly obscure reference anymore. They just don’t make satire like Evil Roy Slade these days.

I wish I had a transcript of the insult rant from that movie. John Astin blew the roof off.

Freelancer on April 21, 2007 at 1:33 PM

With a tip of the hat to Cheryl Crow, lets call him “one sheet” . . .

Labamigo on April 21, 2007 at 1:52 PM

Love the word sobriquet :)

How about Silky Phoney?

Entelechy on April 21, 2007 at 2:12 PM

Wow, I finally got to see that 2004 clip of him fixing his hair. I hope he’s at least in the race long enough for me to have a reason to put that on my blog. I don’t think I’ve ever spent that much time on my hair, and I’m a girl. I don’t know about this Pink Sapphire thing. Breck girl seems to work just fine.

tikvah on April 21, 2007 at 2:45 PM

As a Conservative, I abhor change and therefore will not comply.

I’m still angry Slimy Seahorsey bailed out of the Fox debate.

I still angry Mrs. Slimy Seahorsey hates their republican neighbor

I like being angry. Now where’s ma beer and shotgun?

“Pink Silky Sapphire Breck Girl Pony” or f@ggot for short.

RINO!

John from WuzzaDem on April 21, 2007 at 4:32 PM

According to the “For Men only” page of Pink Saphire, http://www.pinksapphire.biz/spa/men.htm, there isn’t anything there that Master Edwards could have spent anywhere near $400 on. The real money is on the Body spa page, where Johnny could have purchased the whole package

Look better naked $65
back facial $55
detoxify and tone $75
Sea me often $75

and still have enough leftover for a nice haircut. Seems to me that his ill wife is not able or willing to meet his needs, and so he is having his campaign contributors make up the difference.

pedestrian on April 21, 2007 at 4:44 PM

Sorry. Silky Pony just works for me on so many levels; I’m sticking with it for my primary. And keeping Breck Girl as a backup.

If I have to give up my VWRC membership and send back my secret decoder ring, so be it.

Besides, back when I was making jewelery, the most super awesome gemstone I ever had was a pink sapphire that just ‘blew the socks off’ everyone that saw it. It was admittedly a very ‘girly’ (like Edwards) stone; But it was also impressive and of superb quality (which Edwards most assuredly is NOT.)

How does Pink Breck Sapphire Girl sound?

This pantywaist is eagerly awaiting the role of a lifetime in “Barebutt Mounted”.

“Y’all like me….y’all really like me”.

Labamigo on April 21, 2007 at 1:52 PM

Considering the pic used for vent, that would probably be bad news for any possibility of an endorsement from the good Rev sharpton.

No matter how prettily the Breck girl smiles.

Speakup on April 21, 2007 at 7:46 PM

Nice! Memo received. When I first saw the name of the spa where he got his hair done was called Pink Sapphire, I just cracked up. I know President Dubya’s fond of nicknames - what I’d give to hear him call Edwards “Pink Sapphire”! Funny stuff.

CP on April 21, 2007 at 8:33 PM

COnsidering that I live an hour from where this spa is located, this is hysterical. I might try to convince hubby to let me go there just so I can ask the people there about the experience of dealing with someone who’s prettier than his wife. :)

ScoopPC11 on April 21, 2007 at 9:35 PM

Also, if you read the articles carefully, the haircut was done by someone else. He “only” spent about $200 at PS for makeup services for interviews. Not that I’m defending the fact that his hair is prettier than mine, but just saying…

ScoopPC11 on April 21, 2007 at 9:44 PM

Um…Acoording to the FEC filing by the Edwards campaign, the Pink Sapphire bill was $225, not $400. The latter bill was for Torrenueva designs for each of his haircuts. However, that is still HIGH just for a makeup treatment. Most likely he got his face covered with cucumbers for their “Super Moisterizing Facial” and doesn’t want to admit it. BTW, amidst all this controversy about what to call Edwards…my proposal is that he still be called either the Breck Girl or the Silky Pony. However, his LOOK, like the Blue Steel look of Derek Zoolander, is the Pink Sapphire. The perfect example of Edwards doing the Pink Sapphire look can be seen in that pic of him staring intently into the beauty compact in the video of him getting his hair fluffed.
So when you see Edwards giving that self-absorbed look at himself in the mirror, that is his Pink Sapphire Stare.

A “Back Facial”? Is that the for the face he shows the Second America?

B Moe on April 22, 2007 at 11:15 AM

That’s the side the second America gets to kiss because they can’t afford the 400 dollar haircuts.
Nice of Edwards to prep his back face for them to pay homage in hopes of being on his dole.

Yea, two Americas which of the two sides is this hypocrite on?

Speakup on April 22, 2007 at 3:20 PM

Edwards ‘embarrassed’ by haircut from: http://www.quadcitytimes.com.

Embarassed his was “outed”. And he billed his campaign fund for his new “do”. Other people’s money.

The hypocrisy makes me sick.

doingwhatican on April 22, 2007 at 4:50 PM

If anyone on the Edwards campaign has a brain, and I’m beginning to wonder if any of them do, they’ll arrange for some photo-op of Edwards sitting down in one of those small town barbershops in Iowa or New Hampshire where they still have a bunch of combs sitting in a jar of viscous blue fluid, the barbers have Navy tatoos on their forearms, and they shave you with a straight razor. Really, this isn’t that hard to resolve, much better than “I’m embarassed at how much those haircuts cost.”
