He pretty much says (or writes) what I feel on all of the subjects that have come up. He apparently understands the values that a whole lot of us have and isn’t afraid to voice his opinions or put them on paper. So I’m supposed to vote for someone who doesn’t represent any of my values except for the need of the GWOT?

He can communicate his ideas. I doubt that I’m the only one that feels reassured and comfortable hearing him speak. So I’m supposed to vote for someone who doesn’t make me confortable listening to them?

He served in our government but didn’t seek to make his service an empire. He has a day job and didn’t seek this campaign but is being brought into it by the people (including myself) who believe he is a good fit for what we want in a President. So I’m supposed to vote for some guy who hasn’t held down a job outside of politics in decades?

God, I wish these Hollywood-types would just shut up and sing! Why do they think just because their famous we should care what they think?

Notice how the Republicans in Hollywood back up their talk and actually run for office: Reagan, Arnold, Sonny Bono, the guy from Love Boat. Democrats bitch and moan and never put it on the line. It should be “put up or shut up.”

When people capable of performing acts of heroism are discouraged or denied the opportunity, our society is all the poorer. I’ve debunked the aspect of Reagan’s supposed prolife flipflop meme twice here, first on March 6, at 2:43 PM and most recently on this thread on Monday of this week, April 16, 2007 at 5:01 PM. You were on that thread. Are you just going to keep repeating this meme in the hope it will catch on?

Fred has been in and around politics for the last 39 years, was schooled as a lawyer, became an actor only BECAUSE of his political involvement in seeing a corrupt governor get ousted, and still he speaks so plainly that you’ve never heard a news commentator attempt to spin his words.

That’s huge all by itself. You won’t be seeing the talking heads “explain” to the public what President Thompson really meant after a speech. There won’t be a shred of doubt what he meant. He can back up his stated opinions with a voting record, proving that he let his conscience guide him as a Senator.

So I take the opposite tack from amerpundit. Until you can show me a serious skeleton, dig up some criminal or disturbing mud, this man deserves the support of the conservative base. He has all of the tools and talents to do the job, as well as a constitutionalist perspective which comes first with me.

Talk about a Dream Team ticket. I’m solidly in Fred!’s corner. I respect Amerpundit’s skepticism, but none of the other offerings are as powerful to me, personally, than Fred!

None of them. Fred! could actually sway the Sane Democrats to vote for him. I’ll bet you Orson Scott Card would be a Fred! supporter.

Damn, but I wish more Democrats were as well-informed as OSC!

HAHA – good one Pilgram, but I think she might have found the book at the Cracker Barrel on I-95 in Man-asses!

So who? A governor! Perhaps, but which one among the current candidates fits that bill? Romney? Too late to the game. So who?

Maybe someone from the public sector? We had that go around with Forbes and he went no where.

Besides, we know full well that it’s more about having the courage of one’s convictions that makes a great leader and who that individual surrounds himself with.

Fred has experience in Government and he understands the law. So he hasn’t come out and spelled out his plan to re-invent the tax system or anything else. But why should he. All in good tome my friend, all in good time.

I’m more concerned to see who he surrounds himself with during the campaign and who he selects as his running mate in 2008!

Besides if all things are considered equal, his wife is SMOKIN’ HOT!

Good to know you are keeping an open mind. For me, it’s all about electability. After 6+ years of President Mumbles and the couldn’t spin straight gang I am in need of a leader who can distill his ideas down to a short effective soundbite.

They were subsequently forced to alter many of the scenes by swapping more realistic-looking stage swords for wooden ones..

Sarcasm noted, but really, it’s just not the same.

Fred isn’t holding a concert where he lures people in with the promise of entertainment before bombarding them with rants on politics.

Fred doesn’t claim to understand what it likes in Iraq all on the shakey basis of having toured the green zone in a limo.

And Fred isn’t foaming at the mouth.

He simply filled in for someone on a radio show and writes a few columns. Celebrities do this all the time without this side of the political aisle so much as flinching.

Also, he’s a “Hollywood-type” with political experience. The Dixie Chicks and Sean Penn would gain some serious political whining cred if they could actually get an office in Washington.

Basically, it’s still apples and oranges.
