Video: Red Eye’s Levy pwns Olbermann Update: Video restored

posted at 12:12 pm on April 19, 2007 by Bryan
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

Krazy Keith still won’t correct the record. He never will, as I said in today’s Vent. But it’s nice to know that Levy has Hot Air’s six.

Update: YouTube yanked the clip, but my Media Center captured it. Stand by.

Update: All fixed, and YouTube can’t do a thing about it.

Update: I just checked and the clip is back up on YouTube. Must have been a glitch. But we have it here anyway, where whatever gremlins that lurk within YouTube can’t get at it.

ROFLMAO!!! Boom!

That little notion has taken on a life of it’s own, even that female politician who wrote the law is repeating it. Misinformation is not your friend.

Am I wrong in thinking that Cho did not use high capacity mags?

I thought we settled this… Were some of his discarded mags high capacity?

unamused on April 19, 2007 at 12:17 PM

I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to see “pwns” used in a headline.

That’s why I love this site.

saint kansas on April 19, 2007 at 12:17 PM

Pwn3d!

Levy is the best part of RedEye, easily.

I have GOT to start staying up late to watch this.

What the hell to facts have to do with anything?

Limerick on April 19, 2007 at 12:35 PM

Standard Glock 19 mags are 15 rounders. There was no statements from the police that he was using Glock 18 machine-pistol mags.

I suppose they would have been happier if the students were killed with a .45 ACP Glock 21 using 10 round mags.

Summing up today’s political culture in one sentence.

Brilliant work Limerick!

Chad on April 19, 2007 at 12:46 PM

You can’t tell just be looking at the gun whether or not it has what’d be considered a “high capacity” magazine or not (well, in extreme cases you can–there are super-high cap mags that would actually protrude from the bottom of the gun, but those are unusual). Under the ban, a “high cap” mag was simply any mag that holds more than eight bullets.

But the Glock 19 was designed specifically for a 15-round capacity, so the reduced magazine is actually the aberration. As a result, both the high cap (aka, normal) and the limited cap magazines fit entirely inside the grip. The reduced cap magazine simply doesn’t utilize all the storage space it theoretically could.

Blacklake on April 19, 2007 at 12:48 PM

To put it in sports terms…

GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAALLLL!

P.S. Now that we know Red Eye gets material from Hot Air, maybe they’ll soak up some design tips as well. What the hell’s up with those freaky typefaces?

The Clinton ban limited the # of rounds a clip mag can hold to 10.

Today The standard size that comes with a Glock 9mm ranges anywhere from 10 to 17 rounds depending on model. With the option to purchase higher capacity mags.

http://www.glock.com/english/index_magazines.htm

In short was he using hi-cap mags?

By pre-ban/post-ban standards no.

During the Clinton Ban yes.

Even during the ban it was not hard to get the higher capacity mags, and be perfectly legal, as the video pointed out, the ban only prevented the manufacture of the higher capacity not the sale.

F15Mech on April 19, 2007 at 12:49 PM

F15Mech on April 19, 2007 at 12:49 PM

Yeah, you could still own and buy extended magazines, but they were much more pricey because there were fewer on the legal market(because they weren’t getting manufactured). So if the little monster wanted bigger clips, it would have been easy for him to get anyway, he just would’ve spent more either on legal ones or hit the black market.

Bad Candy on April 19, 2007 at 12:58 PM

Levy puttin the smack down, I love this show. If it weren’t for them, Cavuto, and a spattering of O’Reilly, I wouldn’t even watch the ol’ Fox web player these days…

Kristopher on April 19, 2007 at 12:39 PM

Yeah, I think Archie Bunker’s response to Olberdouche (and his fellow dishonest slime) would be: “Would it make you feel any better, little girl, if they was pushed out of windows?”

Nice pwnage by Levy. I especially liked the “let me put it in sports terms so Keith can understand it” part. There are homeless people ranting to nobody on the street that are more qualified to pontificate about politics than Olberdouche.

I would think if somebody is going to be commenting on the NFL they would have more knowledge of firearms.

Levy just made my DVR worth every penny.

Sweeeet. And Levy has just the right amount of disdain in his voice. Nice work!

Slobbermann wrong? Nooooo! Can’t be!

JinxMcHue on April 19, 2007 at 1:26 PM

Interesting info I saw on another site, where a gun-banning battle is currently raging:

Number of physicians in the US = 700,000

Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year = 120,000

Accidental deaths per physician = 0.171
- (US Dept. of Health & Human Services)

Number of gun owners in the US = 80,000,000

Accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups) = 1,500

Accidental deaths per gun owner = 0.0000188
- (U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms)

Therefore, doctors are about 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

Do we outlaw doctors?

dalewalt on April 19, 2007 at 1:29 PM

do you have a link for those stats?

lorien1973 on April 19, 2007 at 1:34 PM

Ban guns. Throw out the 4th Amendment. Begin house to house search. No better yet, lets put some teeth into the laws already on the books.

SPIFF1669 on April 19, 2007 at 1:47 PM

YouTube wants to play? We’ll fix it.

Bryan on April 19, 2007 at 1:54 PM

So Andrew Levy has joined the honored ranks of those banned by YouTube for speaking the truth. Congratulations, Andrew! Personally I think that’s worthy of a segment on tonight’s RedEye. It’s laughable that they’re so scared of something like this.

ReubenJCogburn on April 19, 2007 at 2:01 PM

Nice work as always Bry Man! Videos UP!

soulsirkus on April 19, 2007 at 2:04 PM

Hey if Levy catches this thread, the “jack in” comment on the halftime report was priceless, haha!

Roark on April 19, 2007 at 2:11 PM

Levy truly understands that brevity is the heart and soul of humor.

Exquisite timing doesn’t hurt either!

A “Clip” (A band of metal) is what holds the rounds (ammunition, bullets) together for insertion into M-1 Garand rifles.

A “Magazine” can be either fixed (As with most bolt action rifles) or removable and re-usable. As with Automatic Action, Semi-Automatic Pistols, (Colt .45 ACP, Glocks, Browning, Berewtta, S&W, Sig, etc) rifles (M-16, Ruger Mini-14, Galil, etc) and Sub-Machine Guns (Thompson .45, Uzi, H&K MP-5, etc).

Its not Rocket Science, Olbey!

Jack.

PS: Excellent work, Bryan!

Can’t be fox. Isn’t someone putting red eye compilations up every day?

lorien1973 on April 19, 2007 at 2:43 PM

I would say sleeping, but from the look of him, he’s not getting enough sleep. :)

JayHaw Phrenzie on April 19, 2007 at 2:44 PM

Olbey will get upset over this and will now go and take something Levy said out of context, and make him out to be a racist nazi.

Rick on April 19, 2007 at 2:53 PM

I imagine the “YouTube community” flagged this one too many times…it better go back up…

Gotta love those “free speech” liberals…Bury it! Flag it! Report it as spam!

So much truth swept under the rug…the Soviets would have been proud…

JetBoy on April 19, 2007 at 2:54 PM

Levy is the perfect foil to Gutfeld’s phrenetic presence. After 22 minutes of Greg flailing around I need Levy’s precise calm deadly wit.

Is Rachael doing something different? She seems less dumb this week.

Bad Penny on April 19, 2007 at 2:58 PM

I would say sleeping, but from the look of him, he’s not getting enough sleep. :)

JayHaw Phrenzie on April 19, 2007 at 2:44 PM

I’ve made that observation before, as well. Levy definitely needs a nap.

lorien1973 on April 19, 2007 at 3:05 PM

YouTube yanked the clip? That’s a first. But then, none of the other clips so far have pointed out any of the pesky facts and evidence that won’t fit into Olbermann’s dented head.

Jim Treacher on April 19, 2007 at 3:18 PM

Bryan, do you know who was hosting that clip? Because RedEyeRecap has been putting up stuff every day, and I know Gutfeld is fine with it. If it got pulled, it wasn’t because of anybody on Red Eye.

Jim Treacher on April 19, 2007 at 3:22 PM

YouTube was hosting it, Olbermannwatch posted it. I don’t see any evidence that he took it down, and don’t see why he would. Given that this is YouTube we’re talking about, this could be another instance of the people who work there messing with clips.

Bryan on April 19, 2007 at 3:29 PM

Right, but I mean which user?

Jim Treacher on April 19, 2007 at 3:30 PM

Okay, Olbywatch uploaded it. Sorry, got it.

Jim Treacher on April 19, 2007 at 3:31 PM

It might just be a glitch. It is YouTube, after all…

Jim Treacher on April 19, 2007 at 3:32 PM

Videos often disappear on YT temporarily for no reason. It’s happened to us several times. After a little while they reappear again. It’s worth checking on OlbyWatch’s YT page to see if this one mysteriously rematerializes.

Yeah… convenient. Real convenient!

Jim Treacher on April 19, 2007 at 4:04 PM

It’s back up on YouTube now. They do get glitchy over there, which is one reason we host so much of our own stuff here.

Bryan on April 19, 2007 at 4:06 PM

YouTube yanked the clip?

Usually, that will lead you to a page saying they’ve pulled the clip for TOS violation. Otherwise, it’s probably a tech problem.

True. I did a double take on that one before breaking up laughing.

Just one gripe about last night’s show, though. More Rebecca Gomez, less ‘creepy puppet guy’.

Readymade on April 19, 2007 at 4:24 PM

Poor Olby, I guess the finger that writes the show is on the glitch.

Good job, Levy. I, too, appreciate my DVR’s overnight work.

MySpace videos are better quality and more reliable than YouTube. It’s going to take some time, but I’m working with the RedEyeRecap to move the archives from YouTube over to MySpace.

Until then, enjoy RedEyeRecap’s THE BEST OF ANDREW LEVY

Agreed, as far as the fact that allowing the inane 1994 law to elapse. I actually wanted to point this out on air, but failed to read my own writing. So mea culpa to ConfYank!

As far as the “looking tired” comments go, I’ll say again what I’ve said before – I’m a chronic insomniac, so yeah, I’m pretty much always exhausted. And yet I’m out there every night, fighting for you, and as a great man once said, I find your lack of faith disturbing!
