On “The View” today Barbara Walters said that Rosie giving up on gun control made her sad. Token conservative Elisabeth wasn’t on the show today to defend the constitutional right (meaning: a right that’s actually written in the Constitution) to bear arms.
BARBARA WALTERS: When I’m not on, I watch the program. And, I mean this tragedy that has happened is so terrible, but you Rosie are always so passionate. Right or wrong, you’re passionate. You care. And you’re one of the people who talked about gun control. And for me to hear you yesterday, because we haven’t talked too much about it, numb, saying we’re never going to get a gun control law, kind of giving up made me sad. I don’t want to see you do that.
“Right or wrong, you’re passionate. You care.” If that doesn’t sum up current liberal attitudes in the face of facts, I don’t know what does. Caring means more to them than actually knowing the difference between something that’s false and something that’s true.
Perhaps Rosie gave up because her hypocrisy on gun control keeps coming up. Several years ago when Rosie had an afternoon talk show, she made her opinion about gun control clear to gun advocate Tom Selleck. However, it was later found out Rosie’s bodyguard applied for a gun permit.

So what? Tell me something I don’t already know, make my time here count.
Scotsman on April 18, 2007 at 5:50 PM
So true. The left suffers from a morality of convenience clause which basically states that you have no right to inflict your personal views on me (abortion) but I have every right to inflict my personal views on you (gun control) when I know I’m right, and I know you’re wrong.

Is anyone hearing inbetween wawas words that she has Rosie on there to say the things she wishes she could?
Or is it that she is asking her to say crazy things to rack up the ratings with a save distancing to herself.

The audience slapped for Rosie losing “1 pound”…..
BFD….imagine how much weight she could lose if she actually carried her gun instead of having her bodyguards do it for her.

clapped not slapped (Freudian slip??)

At least we didn’t have to see a picture of Rosie.
Yes, passionate trumps right and wrong every time.

She probably had a mouth full of taffey.
Didn’t someone once ask her why her body guards are armed if she is against firearms for the rest of us?
Hening on April 18, 2007 at 6:37 PM
Yes, Hening, someone did.
I think they got snuffed.
seejanemom on April 18, 2007 at 6:40 PM
Classic and 100% accurate.

I thought Walters is supposed to be the objective journalist. Why would she be “sad” about such a politically charged issue if she were objective?
cmay on April 18, 2007 at 6:56 PM
The left wants to control guns, have all gun owners registered. This makes it so much easier when they take over the White House and both houses of congress, to round up all the gun owners. Then they can build a SCOTUS to discover new rights in the constitution, like the right for the government to also round up Jews for the Caliphate as a peace offering.
stonemeister on April 18, 2007 at 7:10 PM
That is exactly what it sounded like to me. I’m supposed to be objective here – but why have you stopped ranting like a lunatic?
Resolute on April 18, 2007 at 7:20 PM
What we really need is a spoon control law so there is some food left at the buffet for the rest of us after rosie o piggo goes through the line.
csdeven on April 18, 2007 at 7:32 PM
I would think Babs would be extremely nervous Rosie is giving up on gun control knowing what some other nutcase like Rosie did this week at VT.
Wade on April 18, 2007 at 7:45 PM
Using my Lib-Speak dictionary, I was able to interpret and fix Baba’s remark.
Mallard T. Drake on April 18, 2007 at 8:08 PM
Baba is sad…. Because that’s what’s important; how do you feel? Gee, do the 32 variously separated bodies at VT “feel” safer now because they were in a “gun-free” zone. Don’t know. Can’t find out.
This whole healing, psychological counseling, mourning industry crap is truly sick. “I’m sad”. “I hurt”. So what.
This is the crap that got people killed.: “I’m scared”. Blam.
Nobody did anything; They just “felt”.

It looks to me like Bobwa got together behind the scenes with The Spew’s producers and they have worked out a way to “handle” Rosie until she gets past this current manic episode by “containing/boxing her in and making nice & humoring her on the set (”I’m so said that you’ve given up…”) See what I mean- take a look at Rosie’s daily video blog where she answers viewer mail. In this case she answers 3 softball questions and when she gets to the one where a viewer is going back to Iraq for the 2nd time in a year and wants Rosie to go and speak directly to the Iraqi people about the war. As if on cue, Bobwa appears to drop in. Rosie never does go back to the question. Someone on this blog said the other day that ABC is exploiting Rosie like the Bravo channel exploited Anna Nicole as she spiralled out of control. That is exactly how watching Rosie feels.(One important difference between the two women is that Anna didn’t try to pretend she was smart and Rosie mistakenly thinks she smarter than Anna).
Hey Rosie, which one applies to you?
He who knows
and knows
that he knows
IS A MASTER.
He who knows
but does not know
that he knows
NEEDS A TEACHER.
He who does not know
and knows
that he does not know
NEEDS A FRIEND.
He who does not know
and does not know
that he does not know
IS LOST.

I’ll never stop fighting for Gun Control, myself.
(Gun Control in respect to a good sight picture and a steady trigger pull, that is.)
LegendHasIt on April 18, 2007 at 10:45 PM
oops, COLOR ME “LOST”! That should be:

Here is a fair gun control policy that Barbara Walter, Joy Behar, and Rosie O’Donnel should accept:
None of them can have anyone protect them by a gun, and they cannot protect themselves with a gun, ever, in all eternity.
That means, to use Rosie O’Donnel as an example, she cannot employ anyone who is armed to escort or protect her children or to act as her body guard, ever.
It also means that they, themselves, are never, ever, permitted to own a gun or to defend themselves with a firearm.
It also means that they are never, ever permitted to employ the use of any security personnel of any kind at any time, be they staying in a Hotel while traveling, or in an office building, no where under any circumstances, who carries a weapon. No one many ever draw or be in possession of a firearm in order to protect any of them.
It also means that they cannot call 9-1-1 and expect a police officer to come to their aid. They cannot have armed police responding to their calls for distress, nor can a neighbor who is armed respond to any attack on their person and draw a weapon and protect them with that firearm.
No longer can Rosie, Barbara, Joy, or anyone else tell the rest of us who are not celebrities, that it is okay for them to employ the possession of a firearm, or employ hired body guards who are armed by a firearm, or any other variation of same.
Rosie, Barbara, Joy, and others, must also cease and desist from acting all concerned and sad after mass murders, or even individual rapes, robberies, kidnappings, and murders are perpetrated upon any man, woman, or child, especially when that man, woman, or child is not armed, including not armed with a firearm, with which they can protect themselves.
Their outrage should be for the victim’s lack of ability to adequately defend herself, especially by employing the proper, skilled use of a firearm.

“peterfrt,”
I love that line!
Thank you for sharing that here!
May I incorporate it into my list of wise sayings?
Thank you.

Youch. Tagged.
My wife, who doesn’t usually get into politically detailed commentary, said just after Rosie was hired that it was to provide plausible deniability for Barbara. At first I didn’t get her meaning. She said we know Barbara has been a hard-core liberal her whole life, but learned to play it close to the vest for ratings and credibility. Now she has a mouthpiece (Rosie) to say those things while she sits at the far end of the table. This is just continuing proof of my wife’s genius.
Barbara occasionally “seems” to disagree with Rosie, but given the level of outrageous garbage she spews, hatred Don Imus has never known, she’s still the headline player of the show. Kobe Bryant never hogged the ball as much as Rosie hogs the microphone. And Kobe would get fired sooner.

Rosie O’lardarse runs around with ARMED security. Yet, she is so much better than the rest of us that she CAN do this but we, the little people (and lets face it, EVERYONE around O’lardarse is little), are not allowed to defend ourselves. Anyone who actually tunes in to “The View” has an IQ of less than 65. Babs is nothing but a liberal, wrinkled up old hag who has had plastic surgery completely fail for her and, therefore, she is frustrated.

As a public school history teacher in rural Maine for over thirty years, I remember when students would come to school during November deer hunting season with rifles on a rack showing in the back window of their pickup trucks. They hunted before school and after. No school shootings then back then. Now all school grounds are “gun-free zones.” Parents are warned not to have guns in their vehicles when they drop off their children.
I have concealed weapons permits in two states and I can’t have guns, loaded or unloaded, in my vehicles or on my person when I go to work. Twice when I’ve taken out my pocket knife to peel an orange or open an envelope during school, a student has complained in writing to my assistant principal that she was scared when she saw it. The blade is two inches long! I was warned both times. Are we going to take the utility knives out of the custodians’ closet? I asked. Will we take carving knives away from the cooks?
We’re beyond ridiculous already. Time to put gun control in reverse and try to remember what Americans used to be like.

Tom
So true. I got my first gun when I was 8 years old, a 20 gauge shotgun. My father gave me a 22 rifle for Xmas when I was 12.
I used to walk down the street with my gun after school and go target shooting in a farmers field with my friends about two blocks from my house.
Nobody ever called the police and as it was just the normal thing to do and it was not illegal then.
Keep in mind this was in the suburbs of Los Angeles.
Today, there would be a SWAT team called out and me and my friends would be thrown in jail.
It just illustrates how guns have been demonized in this country and how many freedoms and liberty we have lost.
