How am I derailing the thread when the whole Vietnam thing was mentioned by several others before I posted? And I guess I had my syntax off–I didn’t me he smeared his own war record, but rather the Swift Boaters. You know, like the guy who just got appointed Ambassador to Belgium (one of those smallish European countries).

I like the position that some vets have taken.
While his Vietnam service does leave some questions, he did serve. He probably served honorably too. (Release the records, John)

What is deplorable tho, is his Winter Soldier testimony and his reinvention as an anti-war vet after Vietnam.

If half the sh1t he said was true, he had an obligation and a duty as an American Naval Officer to report it. The fact he didn’t points to his dereliction and in my mind makes him unfit to be CinC.
