It could be worse.

HAHA. Nice.
It does feel that way. I almost miss Clinton. He couldn’t get anything done. The less legislation in my life the better.

60% = “free health care”?
No thanks.
ScottMcC on April 15, 2007 at 12:47 PM
Thanks Allah, that was one of those laugh out loud moments!
Zorro on April 15, 2007 at 1:27 PM
Heh, funny and true. Let’s pray its never 60% here…

Good find AP! A perfect distraction as I procrastinate finishing up my return :^)

That’s what the taxman really does in Canada.
It’s one of those perennial classic skits that’ll live on forever.
MoxArgon on April 15, 2007 at 2:37 PM
Seriously though, it’s not 60% is it? Cant be. I’m looking here: http://moneycentral.msn.com/content/Taxes/P148855.asp
Says 31%?
Damn some of those other EU nations though, 50% +…. jebus.

31% of GDP is very different from the % paid by actual working people. Taking all the taxes paid, 60% is a pretty decent estimate of total income for someone in the top tax brackets, which starts at 60K in Canada.
libertarianuberalles on April 15, 2007 at 4:05 PM
That was absolutely BRILLIANT!
robblefarian on April 15, 2007 at 4:14 PM
If 60k is part of the top tax brackets (i.e. considered wealthy), then Canada is nowhere I’d want to live. That’s pitiful, unless the cost of living is a lot lower than here.

Kinda of off topic but related. How many know that April 15th is the deadline for those that OWE tax NOT for those that will be filing for a Tax REFUND?
Yep, that’s my mission today … to inform all those who get all stressed out about meeting the DEADLINE!!
Those that are filing a RETURN that grants a tax REFUND have up to 4 years!
Since the government always takes more of my money than they ..cough.. deserve, I file my tax return at the end of the summer and use that REFUND of money taken from me UNJUSTLY, to pay for my Christmas expenses.
*sigh* .. if only the government was bound by the same interest rate for my RETURN (of unjustified tax) as they assest for “their share!”

Has anyone noticed that “Tax Day” (April 15) is also the anniversary of the death of Abraham Lincoln?
Yes, Lincoln died on April 15, 1865.
I’ve been wondering about the so-called “coincidence” of this for years. As if this was a coincidence….
I blame Karl Rove.

I’d like to know why NY thinks its too good to use the W2 forms your employer sends, and forces you to fill out an IT-2 form with your return? I thought it was all about less paper work.
Iblis on April 15, 2007 at 6:51 PM
shit. 25% of my earned money is already a little more than I can tolerate already.
Egfrow on April 15, 2007 at 7:40 PM
I hear you…
I just filed my taxes tonight and here is what I came up with…
26% of my gross income goes to state and federal taxes.
Factor in SS and FICA (I will never see it when I plan to retire), it grows to approx 31% of my gross income.
I guess you and I are rich and we need to pay “our fair share”.

The left loves taxes — especially the hollyweirdos. I think they should give Canadian living a whirl … especially if it includes them getting kicked repeatedly in the gumballs :)
