I was in downtown Dallas the other day and greeted and thanked a razor sharp-looking uniformed soldier walking across the street. At first I could see that he went into threat assessment mode (happens a lot, as I’m a big ugly son of a gun), but when he figured out I was sincere he instantly relaxed and heartily thanked me.

They know that a great many in this country don’t support them, and I know they’re on guard for verbal attacks by the hard-core lefties.

I also thank Police and Fire Fighters every chance I get. Those who protect and defend us deserve our support.

He's been home for awhile, his wife gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, and he's getting called up for a third tour. It's gut wrenching to think he may be going over for a third time. But you know what? He's got a big smile on his face, keeps working at his job, and never says a word about it to me. God Bless these brave men and women.
