Coincidence? Just like this one:

And the countless other photos news outlets have used to send messages to the Bush administration.

Farfetched to be intentional, I’d chalk it up as “Creepy Coincidence.”

Besides, It would mean giving credit to photographic journalists, like they’re clever or something.

Ringmaster on April 14, 2007 at 2:33 PM

I think at the very least the photojournalist who cropped this picture did it subconcsiously.

aengus on April 14, 2007 at 2:39 PM

Is it just me, or is Dana Perino really pretty? She’s like the best-looking press secretary ever.

violet on April 14, 2007 at 2:39 PM

This is really making a mountain out of a molehill

Defector01 on April 14, 2007 at 2:40 PM

This is really making a mountain out of a molehill

Defector01 on April 14, 2007 at 2:40 PM

I’d tend to agree, but there have been dozens of these.

After a sufficient number of repetitions, “accidental” ceases to have quite the same meaning that it used to.

Misha I on April 14, 2007 at 2:43 PM

Hah! I sent you guys an email about that pic last night. I thought it was hilarious… “The White Ho”… :)

BTW I’m outraged.

Defector01 on April 14, 2007 at 2:40 PM

What is “this is”? I just pointed out the “coincidence.”

It irks me to say this, but, it depends on what the definition of is, is.

Re: dead-duck: Thanks! I saw the e-mail, forgot to credit you. Just did.

Ian on April 14, 2007 at 2:46 PM

Actually, what it really says is “The Te Ho Gton” which is an anagram of “Teeth Got Hon” which is Polish ghetto slang for a shrewish woman (or snappy dresser, depending on context).

Coincidence? I think not.

spmat on April 14, 2007 at 2:46 PM

This is real? I thought it was a still from a movie with Cameron Diaz…

ScottMcC on April 14, 2007 at 2:47 PM

Hello cutie!

No, it’s not just you. She’s a cutie. Sure, she’s no Ari Fleischer, but who is?

That reminds me of one time a couple of weeks back when Condi Rice was off somewhere or another, and the cnn.com homepage had her pic as the main story. They put up one of the freakiest pics of her around, then I checked back later and they had replaced it — with an equally freaky pic! After at least 2 different scary pics on the story, they put up a “normal” pic that I’m pretty sure stayed put the rest of the afternoon.

Methinks there’s something up with the cnn.com frontpage editor/staff.

dead-duck on April 14, 2007 at 2:55 PM

Oh, hey! Just reloaded. Thanks Ian, my “name” up in lights! :)

dead-duck on April 14, 2007 at 2:58 PM

its a perfectly framed picture, so im calling this coincidence.

but the “retire” one.. yea of course thats intentional.

triple on April 14, 2007 at 3:05 PM

I doubt this one is intentional, but the Cheney one, and countless others I believe were. That said, Perino is smokin’ hot.

It isn’t just you. She is gorgeous!

Glynn on April 14, 2007 at 3:21 PM

We all know that the media wouldn’t play tricks with pics or anything like that.

Buzzy on April 14, 2007 at 3:28 PM

Coincidence? I’d call it arrogance.

RedWinged Blackbird on April 14, 2007 at 3:28 PM

Oh the drama.. theyre not that clever.

Viper1 on April 14, 2007 at 3:30 PM

Is it the same people doing these are is it a MSM virus? Does anyone have a collection of these? You could take them on a political art road show.

Drtuddle on April 14, 2007 at 3:37 PM

its a perfectly framed picture, so im calling this coincidence.

That’s the best argument in favor of “coincidence” that I can think of too, so I’ll go from “tending” to saying that you’re probably right. Of course, one could speculate that the one who chose this pic chose this one deliberately from a whole bunch, but let’s not get too DU-like here ;-)

Still, the fact remains: If it hadn’t been for the numerous previous example of obvious deliberate manipulation, we wouldn’t be having this discussion in the first place.

Misha I on April 14, 2007 at 3:39 PM

Hey IAn where is everybody today? It’s been a Dead Air posting day instead of Hot Air

Drtuddle on April 14, 2007 at 3:40 PM

Oh the drama.. theyre not that clever.

Viper1 on April 14, 2007 at 3:30 PM

You’re most likely right in this case, but never underestimate your enemy.

Misha I on April 14, 2007 at 3:41 PM

Now you folks do be careful here! A commenting slip-up and Perino could be scarred for life.

eeyore on April 14, 2007 at 3:42 PM

I wasn’t looking at the words behind her. I was looking at her. She is really cute.

JammieWearingFool on April 14, 2007 at 3:53 PM

Sure, she’s no Ari Fleischer, but who is?

*sigh* Ari… I loved him so when he was press secretary. He always seemed belligerent and aggressive, which was such a huge turn-on.

Speaking as a woman, however, it is quite wonderful to see a smart, lovely, competent woman facing the press. I wish Tony a speedy recovery, but it’s nice having Dana fill in for him.

violet on April 14, 2007 at 4:06 PM

This same sort of coincidence seems to happen to Republicans a lot. I recall a photo of Bush senior during the ’02 election in which he was shown stepping out of Marine 1. Directly behind him, painted on the side of the chopper, was a big arrow that said “Danger” which was coincidentally pointing to his head.

But remember the “rats” commercial? That was a week long story.

John on April 14, 2007 at 4:10 PM

Sorry, that was the ’92 election, not ’02.

John on April 14, 2007 at 4:11 PM

I don’t know that I’d say the pic was taken that way intentionally, but maybe the person who chose it was making a joke?

To be honest, if I was choosing a pic and saw that one in the bunch, I’d probably pick it… not to make a statement about the woman, but to see if anyone noticed, seeing as how the use of the word “ho” has been so prominant in the news lately and all ;)

Oh, and yeah, she’s pretty… I was trying to figure out who she looks like, I’m thinking cybill shepherd….

dead-duck on April 14, 2007 at 4:12 PM

Subscribe to the White House Press Briefing feed and watch her deal with fools every day.

I’m gay but I’m thinking of reconsidering.

VinceP1974 on April 14, 2007 at 4:16 PM

I’m thinking cybill shepherd….

Thank you! I’ve trying to figure that out since I first saw the photo. I knew it was a model, but couldn’t remember the name.

RedWinged Blackbird on April 14, 2007 at 4:17 PM

It would not surprise me if it were intentional…not a bit.

Highrise on April 14, 2007 at 4:20 PM

She’s definitely a cutie. And extremely articulate. She makes me want to actually go onto C-SPAN’s website and listen to her press briefings.

Wow!

asc85 on April 14, 2007 at 4:30 PM

There are only two types of pictures that the MSM will release out of the White House: those that depict the subject looking stupid or arrogant, and those that have a subliminal message. Since DP looks pretty good here, it is clear that The White Ho was intentional.

Like they say, it’s not paranoia if they really are out to get you./

She topped Esquire’s list of “Women We’re Ashamed to Love”. That was the same issue they named Scarlett Johansson as “Sexiest Woman Alive”.

Rick P on April 14, 2007 at 4:40 PM

Why go to CSPAN to LISTEN to her when you can go to White House and see video?

VinceP1974 on April 14, 2007 at 4:49 PM

Should she be expecting a call from Sharpton and Jackson…not!

ctmom on April 14, 2007 at 4:49 PM

Not Coincidence, but deliberate.

Kini on April 14, 2007 at 5:04 PM

Wow! She is a very attractive woman. Kind of half way between a younger Cybill Shepard and an older Cameron Diaz (as Scott etc. mentioned earlier.)

I haven’t heard her… Is she any good at handling the press and disseminating the info? That’s really more important.

LegendHasIt on April 14, 2007 at 5:04 PM

Deliberate. It happens too many times.

Wade on April 14, 2007 at 5:28 PM

Finally, a brother gets his due. Thanks!

ScottMcC on April 14, 2007 at 5:34 PM

it’s just a picture… now, if she were naked riding a mechanical bull, that would be something.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I get the video feed on C-SPAN’s website to watch her.

asc85 on April 14, 2007 at 7:58 PM

Ok – if you take the Beatles white album and play it backwards you can hear – “Dubya killed Sadaam”

iam7545 on April 14, 2007 at 8:32 PM

I’m glad I am not the only guy (or girl, apparently) who was mesmerized. I could not take my eyes off her. This was the first time I had ever seen her and kept thinking, wow where has been the last 6 years? She is smooth and sharp; hot and cool. Keep us posted on her every move.

E L Frederick (Sniper One) on April 15, 2007 at 10:18 AM

I likes her. I followed the press briefings link above, and was browsing around, when i came upon this from a few days ago (4/11). Nothin’ but a little ol’ smack-down from the cool-looking blonde.

Q Dana, if I could follow. Representative Rahm Emanuel has put out a statement about this, saying, “The Washington Post reports that the White House wants to appoint a war czar to run the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but they can’t find anyone to do it — someone needs to tell Steve Hadley that position is filled — it’s the Commander-in-Chief, unless the decider has become the delegator.” Do you see his point?

MS. PERINO: Well, I think it’s really interesting coming from somebody who works with 217 other members of Congress who think that they are Commanders-in-Chief. The President is the Commander-in-Chief. . .

Somebody just got something in their eye.

Ditto. I’ll be bookmarking the page that links to the video. Boy, if Karl Rove is a magnificent bastard, this one is, is, well, even more magnificent, somehow. I think the American citizenry might be on the verge of becoming better informed on the day to day workings of our government. I know I will be.

smellthecoffee on April 15, 2007 at 11:44 PM

The hair, nose, mouth and forehead are Cybill Shepard, the eyes and chin are Cameron Diaz.
