Open thread: Fireworks on the Factor with Michelle hosting? Update: Video added

posted at 8:02 pm on April 12, 2007 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

The show’s starting now; comment below if you’re watching. I’m reliably informed that one guest lobs a sexist insult at Michelle — but a “good,” progressive kind of sexist insult, not a retrograde conservative one. So look out for that.

Video coming as it happens.

Update: All right, here’s the first of two clips, with talk-show host Opio Sokoni. He admits that hip-hop has a problem, then blames it on George Washington. Or something.

Update: And here’s the main event with bottom-feeding Black Panther Malik Shabazz. Don Surber says it better than I:

The guy could not take being pushed around by a woman.

He called her a prostitute.

You could almost feel the delight in her as she knew she had him. She stuck to her guns while he sputtered and locked into the name-calling mode. He is so stuck in the ’60s (although he is far too young to have lived much then) that he could not understand that women really are the equal of men and that they can think for themselves — and mature into the same conservatism that educated men become.

“Delight” is too strong a word, but insofar as Shabazz proved her point for her, there clearly was a glimmer of satisfaction. Just as there’ll be when some of the filthier denizens of the nutroots write posts congratulating him for speaking hate to power. Which they will.

MM told me she has a post in the works about tonight’s taping, so stay tuned. Painfully easy exit question: Surber says it’s time for MM to have her own show. Is he right?

Update: The boss’s post is up. Not much by way of behind-the-scenes gossip, but she does provide some context on Shabazz.

Colmes is an absolute idiot
At least he is on record now saying we should pull out of Iraq right now and isn’t he considered a “moderate”?

LakeRuins on April 12, 2007 at 9:18 PM

That scumbag deserves a punch in the mouth for talking to a woman like that. If O’Reilly were there he wouldn’t have acted like that.

JasonG on April 12, 2007 at 9:18 PM

All time great classic – The Best of Michelle Malkin – a one, two, three punch. I loved it when she said, “Blame it on George Washington” – although there were countless great moments.

I wonder when Olberman will have Zuniga on as a guest host.

WisCon on April 12, 2007 at 9:01 PM

If it’s Daphne, it might be worth watching.

mikeyboss on April 12, 2007 at 9:24 PM

Michelle…..WOW…..you were just brilliant tonight

Shabazz won’t apoligize….as if we really thought he would.

robo on April 12, 2007 at 9:29 PM

I would have loved to see a “split screen” of MM’s fist hitting that “waste of skin” in the mouth.

Helloyawl on April 12, 2007 at 9:33 PM

Shabazz is an idiot and Michelle sure put him in his place!

I wonder how many black women have been raped by black men? He talks about the rowdy and lewd behavior of the lacrosse players. What about the criminal record of his poor little victim?

And it sounds like he called the victim Kim, her name is Crystal. What a dope.

ctmom on April 12, 2007 at 9:38 PM

Geez, Michelle got guts, terrific show. I bet she be doing videos from her moated mansion if she had her own program. I don’t know how this agrivation affects the body over time, but can’t see doing this every day being healthy.

Interesting to see Opio Sokoni turn up, he of the Appeal for Redress crowd.

If you go to their web site and check out their online petition, it is emailed to his address. The info@appealforredress.org actually goes to his email as well.

More on that here.

Dick Morris is just trying to piss Hillary off. Its obvious that Moonves is sucking up to Sharpton and Jackson. God help us all.

ctmom on April 12, 2007 at 9:46 PM

Now that was tv worth watching!

GT on April 12, 2007 at 9:47 PM

oh add the TAKBIR video to this segment too! Oh oh MR KOTTER! PLEASE!!!

The hotair expose of shabazz and the takbir! and then include the Keith Ellison video at his win and his supporters shouting TAKBIR!

CrimsonFisted on April 12, 2007 at 9:48 PM

MM really does need her own show, she’s very polished up there and I dont say that just because she’s attractive and I agree with her most of the time.

Dash on April 12, 2007 at 9:48 PM

“Are you calling me a whore?”

“Yes”

That says enough about the left’s “tolerance” and “nuances”. I bet he won’t be held accountable, either.

Well done, Michelle. I haven’t seen the show yet because it airs overseas at noon the following day. I have to work but I’ll try to get my wife to record it. I want to enjoy every moment of Michelle eating this guy’s lunch.

Black Adam on April 12, 2007 at 9:54 PM

Interesting how both of the men in these clips seemed to assume that since Michelle is a “woman of color” (Shabazz’s term) that she should automatically be opposed to white men and/or the Establishment. Like she can’t think for herself and must look to an identity group to tell her how she should think. Sokoni was more subtle about it, seeming to be honestly confused about why she “loves white people so much.” But Shabazz was downright rude and denigrating about it with the prostitute comment.

aero on April 12, 2007 at 9:54 PM

In the first segment with Opio Sokoni, I think he made a comment to Michelle about “those white folks you love so much.” This was during some cross-talk, so I can’t be sure I heard it correctly. But if it is true, I would just like to say:

I had no idea. I’m flattered. You should know that we all are very fond of you too.

Michelle for President!

infidel4life on April 12, 2007 at 9:58 PM

Nice job, Michelle. The only way you could have dealt with that Black Panthers clown any better was to laugh when you said that ‘one political whore’ line, just too further drive home what a pathetic and insignificant tool he was.

Bad Candy on April 12, 2007 at 9:59 PM

Switching now to serious mode….

I don’t watch Bill O’Reilly. I really don’t like his style of shouting-heads TV. The only reason I tuned in tonight was to see Michelle discuss her “Imus” column on-air. I was shocked by the behavior of both Sokoni and Shabazz and thought Michelle handled herself very well.

But

If you do get your own show, Michelle, I would hope it is more like Vent than the O’Reilly Factor. Being driven into a shouting match with the likes of Mr. Shabazz is really beneath your dignity.

Eh. Call me old-fashioned.

Anton on April 12, 2007 at 10:06 PM

Oh, Man she’s awesome.

KCtheKat on April 12, 2007 at 10:12 PM

And with the video added, the historical web record for humanity has more evidence that Malik Shabazz is a total idiot.

He’s served his purpose. FoxNews should not have him on again.

Oh, Michelle, a small nitpick. In your blog you said that The Factor repeats at 11 PM Pacific. I’m in California and it actually repeats at 1 AM our time. Red Eye is on at 11 here. Yay for us!

kevcad on April 12, 2007 at 10:23 PM

I didn’t love that so much. This is what happens when you bring a racist jerk on national television. He spewed his ignorant crap and it took Michelle well outside of her area of comfort. I didn’t think she was at all comfortable trading insults with a lower form of life like Shabazz, but really had nothing else to go with.

I have seen her do so much better, and I’m surprised that so many here seem to disagree.

As for Fox, it has become one long Jerry Springer show. They have provided a platform for scum sucking whores like Sharpton and Shabazz to spew racism, and stage screaming matches between O’Reilly and whomever. Hannity and Colmes is just juvenile; one small step above camp theater. What a mess.

Jaibones on April 12, 2007 at 10:26 PM

A class act as always, Michelle.

I can’t wait for her to get her own tv show.

bookwurm322 on April 12, 2007 at 10:28 PM

Michelle was excellent filling in for Mr O tonight. In fact, it’s very hard for me to recall a better episode of the O Factor than tonight’s show. She hit those guys hard. It was a smackdown! They’re such tools and it was a pleasure watching her take them apart. You need your own show on FOX, Michelle!

lorien1973 on April 12, 2007 at 10:31 PM

The two, guests (term I use politely), on Michelle’s program are not interested in stopping racism, they’re promoting racism.

Michelle nail these “blame it on whitey” creeps and deflected the insults from both nappy numskulls.

FormerLiberal on April 12, 2007 at 10:52 PM

I agree with Jailbones that he got her out of her comfort zone–and trading insults is never a winner. Once you get down into the mud, you always get some of it on you. He was doing a good enough job on himself. Too bad she was too principled to play the victim card–turnabout would definitely have been fair play. She went straight at him, which I think was a mistake, instead she could have encouraged him to pontificate his wacky theories. He’s just like Cynthia McKinney, they have an alternative version of reality that is so starkly at odds with almost everyone else’s that the best thing to do is get them spinning out their paranoid conspiracies for all to see. Another factoid that people in the biz need to come up with for the Shabbazzes of the world is the percentage of black women who are raped by black men, as opposed to white men. If he wants to claim that bad stuff was happening on slave ships and plantations, I won’t argue, but today, especially with the portrayals of black women on rap videos (which would have been another fruitful patch of ground for MM to have taken Shabazz), I’d eat my hat if black women aren’t twice as likely to be raped by a black man as by a white man.

I was soo hoping she was going to say, “You can call me a ho, Mr. Shabbazz, but you can’t call me nappy-headed.”

That man is a race-pimp.

smellthecoffee on April 12, 2007 at 11:01 PM

I have 2 questions:

Where did Michelle get those massive gumballs of hers and how do I get myself a pair?

She does more for women every time she opens her mouth than 50 years of the feminist movement. No one talks over her, no one talks down to her, and no one insults her without her calling them on it HEAD ON. She never backs down and she never shuts up until she’s done having her say.

God I love that woman!

That group needs to be exposed and the O’reilly show did a good job exposing it. Many people have NO clue that they exist or what they stand for. Boy did Michelle have class. Highrise on April 12, 2007 at 11:21 PM

2005 US Dept of Justice Crime Statistics Report (published Dec 2006)
Just a couple exerpts to correct some of Shabazz’s LIES.

Race of Offender – Rape/Sexual Assault
32.8% – White
48.5% – Black
15.4% – Other
3.2% – Unknown (offender not caught or ID’d)

73% of Violent Crimes against a Black are caused by a Black Offender
80% of Robberies against a Black are caused by a Black Offender
72% of Assualts against a Black are caused by a Black Offender

So more Rape/Sexual Assualt Offenders are Black, and most Black crime is a result of Black Offenders.

Of course this is all just George Washingtons fault, all the rich white guys faults, anyone but the Black communities fault. Certainly not Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, or Shabazzes faults! Bill Cosby has it right! It is about time the Black community stepped up and took responsibility, quit blaming anyone and everything. Peace.

JA6601 on April 12, 2007 at 11:22 PM

Michelle clearly is ready for and is deserving of her own show.

In the meantime, if radio and TV together were a consideration, I hear that CBS Radio and MSNBC TV have concurrent openings. The thought of signing with the likes of CBS and MSNBC is one that makes me shudder, but, if she can handle Shabazz that deftly, she can handle them, too.

flutejpl on April 12, 2007 at 11:24 PM

I’m still not quite sure I agree that she handled him as well as possible. I think it could have been better if she had not taken his insult as seriously as she did, and just laughed him off like the first guy.

Bad Candy on April 12, 2007 at 11:27 PM

That was a clear win for Michelle on both parts.

She MUST be proud . I am . . My god Iv’e just witnessed a gift. Fox would be O’so lucky to have
her host her own show…

Texyank on April 12, 2007 at 11:30 PM

I’d eat my hat if black women aren’t twice as likely to be raped by a black man as by a white man.

Race of Offender – Rape/Sexual Assault

Hmmmm. And my kishkes were just recovering from all the matza. . .

smellthecoffee on April 12, 2007 at 11:31 PM

Shabazz doesn’t want justice for black women, he wants revenge for real and imagined crimes against the black race, going back for centuries.

Sticking to the reality of the moment, JA6601, 11:22pm highlights the obvious point that Bill Cosby made–Take responsibility for the things that are happening NOW. The victim mentality is no justification for continuing in self- (and race) destructive behavior.

Vanquisher on April 12, 2007 at 11:32 PM

Remind me not to make Michelle mad.
Whew! That look she gave Shabazz
(when he called her a “political prostitute”)…
he doesn’t know how lucky he was that he wasn’t in the studio — he could’ve been instantaneously turned into stone.

CyberCipher on April 12, 2007 at 11:33 PM

He could have at least rapped it. Or said something about my hair.

Hey, your hair looks great.

As far as you laughing at his nonsense? Well… a clown is a clown and you showed him for what he really is.

Lawrence on April 12, 2007 at 11:35 PM

Shabaz should be banned from TV..it legitimizes him if only marginally.

His reality is about as altered as Crystal Gail Mangum who’ now claiming she was being made to levitate while being raped.

Good job Michelle. You’ve learned to not let these putz’s push you around. Take control of the situation instead of “playing nice” while these nimrods wade through their talking points. Bravo.

Mojave Mark on April 12, 2007 at 11:41 PM

Favorite line:

May I ask a question first, Sir?

Michelle’s inflection on ’sir’ was the lace glove with a brick in it; she had so much disdain in that one little word, I’m surprised he didn’t start complaining.

Great job Michelle. The first interview was really good. Sokoni was at least polite, if a couple of nuggets short of a happy meal. That George Washington comment (curse you George Washington) was priceless. I’m surprised Sokoni kept a straight face when she started laughing. She has a very infectious laugh. No doubt, Sokoni was pwned.

Second interview…good grief Shabazz is a giant foreskin. A big white university against a poor black woman? Did he know about the 88 professors that won’t recant their stupid letter condeming those lacrosse players? And Nifong was incompetent? He hid evidence. Apparently he had the police intimidating people. Nifong acted like a freaking paid off prohibition DA owned by the mob. And this jerk comes on national tv and pronounces that woman a victim? Michelle came across with so much class, she made this guy look like a cheap street theater hooligan. Great clips for getting the blood pressure going.

austinnelly on April 12, 2007 at 11:44 PM

Excellent job Michelle… O’Reilly’s probably not happy with his decision to give you 2 days though, because FNC might recognize your talent and decide it’s time for a permanent host change.

RightWinged on April 12, 2007 at 11:46 PM

MM should not get her own show, at least not a daily show. I don’t want to see MM getting stuck covering the latest celebrity tabloid story night after night. O’Reilly doesn’t even have the mojo to dump those segments. A weekend gig that allowed guests to last longer than a single segment would be great. The short attention span theater format is annoying.

Besides, if every day were Christmas, then it wouldn’t be so special.

Michelle,
Wow…thank you for going toe to toe with with the Racist Bigot that goes by the name Shabazz. I am a white, male, Christian, heterosexual, single, male,Conservative, Art teacher, originally from Mississippi…I am a minority. I honestly believe that racism still exists today because of Mr. Shazam, Shabazz. I have many close “darker skinned” friends and our generation chooses not to see color. And we laugh at our differences and respect each others character.
I wasnt planning on watching the show tonight because I got in late. I am glad you were hosting, it’s what kept me tuned in. Not that Bill wouldnt have but when I heard you put your two guest in a Half Nelson with your rebuttle…I had to watch. I think Michelle did great taking on those two… it’s easy to sit there watching at home or reflecting on it later and say “She would have been better served if she had….”, but when you’re in the moment and someone has just said something crazy to you, you go with your first response. I think Michelle’s instant response of essentially “exCUSE ME?” was more than appropriate.

Oh, and this if off subject, but I have H&C on muted and is it just me or is Elisabeth’s skin a very… umm… odd tone? At first I thought it was my TV, but H&C look normal (or, at least, as normal as either of them ever looks) Put the bottle down and step away from the fake tanner!

The 2nd guy called Michelle a prostitute, to her face on, national TV.

When I saw it I could not believe that a lawyer, trying to defend his position, would loose it so badly.

It shocked the hell out of me when I watched it.

This is from the same person that defends the known stripper AND “escort” that caused this whole mess in the first place.

Frankly I think Michelle handled it great.

No freakin’ way! The BEST way to handle guys like these is exactly the way Michelle did it. Humiliate them on national television for all the world to see it. The O Factor is seen in several nations and is one of the top rated cable news shows on tv. Exposing this coven of creeps for what they really are in front of an audience that large is exactly what should be done.

Funny how when you turn on the light, the cockroaches seem to scramble.

Great Job Michelle! If only half the men on TV today had the balls you have. No dancing around and no BS. Let’s call a spade a spade no pun or slur intended. In addition to standing up to the two race haters. You are so right about Jackson and Sharpton as well and most everybody knows it. Even on the other side. We must keep hammering to get the race clowns out of here or things will get bad. If we are to ever get to some sort of real racial “harmony” we must do just as you did tonight. Let’s really talk about it and not dance around it. I feel bad for the BB players as they didn’t ask for any of this but they are trying to make the Rutgers team into martyrs. The idea that a girl on the Rutgers BB team is “scarred for life” is such crap and part of the race game. As you noted: If we really want to talk about scarred college students… We need to call horsesh*t on all this kind of stuff like you did. If race relations can’t take it then there is no real hope anyway cause what we are left with is the Jesse and AL shakedown show and that is totally not acceptable anymore! Once again. Great job!

Shabazz said to MM “Over 1,600,000 black women have been sexually asaulted and raped by white men since we came here on slave ships, none of them has been prosecuted.”

1.6 million sexual assault/rape cases by white men on black women and not ONE of them has ever been prosecuted? Shabazz is a liar who manufactures his own “facts” to suit his cause. His hatefilled lies will cause racial strife to fester and boil wherever he goes. He is a Racial Pimp, just like the RAP “artists” that profit by demeaning and destroying their own men, women and children.

As stellar as Michelle is, I sit and watch all this with a certain depression. There is no question but that Victimization Culture rules the hearts and minds of America now. Those of us who see through it are a far smaller minority than we’d like to admit. Far, far smaller.

Behind it is the subtle Marxism that also breathes life into the environmental and feminist movements – the “class oppression” worldview transcribed onto gender, ecosystems, race, the war, economy… whatever they can come up with, it’s always the same: someone (or in the case of “Mother Gaia”, some thing) by virtue of their belonging to some group, is being “oppressed” and “discriminated against” and the only solution is, somehow, collectivist. How did this New Marxism so successfully infiltrate the very fabric of American thinking (sic), and how did its obligatory guilt infect even the supposedly clearer minds on the Right? I don’t know, but it has.

Let’s get right down to the REALNITTY GRITTY. Hey Michelle don’t be so shy next time! PS You look fab tonight.

Academia. This is their “framing” of everything, and it is subtle and insidious, and those college kids, with their skulls full of mush, just inhale it. And in the academic environment, it is as ubiquitous as the air they breathe. The professors don’t have to preach it; it is in the questions they ask, the assumptions they make, the ideas they praise and don’t praise, not to mention the books they assign. (I mean, if Howard Zinn is your go-to guy for history. . .) That’s why I think that what David Horowitz is doing with the Academic Bill of Rights is so important. See this:
http://www.studentsforacademicfreedom.org/abor.html He’s been trying to get this through various state leglislatures, btw, so there may be a way to support the effort.

I am really getting tired of people playing the race card every time something wrong happens to them.

Yeah, life is full of “unfun” situations, especially in the past, but we need to grow up and move beyond the “its white-ties fault” for our present day dilemmas.

Although I don’t agree with everything on Michelle regarding life, I can definitely side with her on this one.

I think we saw everything those two morons have. Can you imagine being in the public eye despite being so limited?

GIVE MICHELLE HER OWN TALKSHOW NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joshua P. Allem on April 13, 2007 at 1:42 AM

I watched it on The Factor. Shabazz says, in so many words, “if you are black, you can get away with being a racist”, ’cause “Whitey” owes you. What a tool. This kind of crap is what keeps Jessy and Al going. The race card always works.

If those two ever had to get a real job, they’d be living under a bridge.

Oh man, that was sweet. Somebody needs to tell Shazam that his little Malcolm x routine is stale and boring.

This whole “Hot Air” thing was always meant to propel MM into the mainstream of televised media. Look, she can repeatedly recite news copy into a TV camera!

One would think the penultimate achievement is a successful (financially e.g. self-sustaining, influential) Internet news outlet featured regular, originally produced, pro, focused video content. Instead of producer researched & written plagiarism of WSJ content simply recited by the ugliest female news-reciter ever, Katie ‘Colon’ Curic.

it’s obvious to me this guy hates women.

Highrise on April 13, 2007 at 2:34 AM

Michelle, you have seriously got to get a tv show. I said something in a recent post about hoping you’d get your own radio show, but you’ve got what it takes to last a long time on on television. Nothing against Greta Van Susteren, but can we push her back an hour and put you on instead?

FOX News are you hearing this?

Joshua P. Allem on April 13, 2007 at 2:51 AM

Question is Olberman going to make Shabazz the worst person in the world…

Sad thing is all this because three guys tried to do something incredibly stupid
