Video: Fred talks Lymphoma on Cavuto

posted at 8:10 pm on April 11, 2007 by Ian

Earlier today, Fred Thompson sat down with Neal Cavuto talk about his lymphoma and possible Presidential run. Thompson said he “know[s]” his lymphoma is “not a big deal.” On the presidency, Thompsons say he has never “craved” to be President, but he “desire[s]” to lead the country though perilous times, which he says we are in now. Thompson adds he is not interested in being Vice President.

The Evans-Novak Political Report says Fred! may enter the race next week:

From the latest Evans-Novak Political Report: “Fred Thompson is very likely to enter the race for President, with a possible announcement coming as early as next week. Thompson’s announcement that he is in remission from lymphoma is a trial balloon — the reaction could determine his decision. This particular kind of lymphoma is much less harmful than others and should not shorten his life expectancy.”

Fred did allude to this in his interview. The possible presidential candidate bluntly said he wants to see people’s reaction before he makes a decision.

He running, come on Fred just say it. :)

djohn669 on April 11, 2007 at 8:32 PM

He’s fine. The cancer is one of the most treatable known to man and he has to get this out now.

NEMETI IN SYRACUSE on April 11, 2007 at 8:33 PM

Run, Fred!, Run!!!

We’re just waiting to support you!

Thompson/Steele ’08!

tickleddragon on April 11, 2007 at 8:38 PM

Cancer is nothing compared to the new tone-itis affecting Rudy McRomney and Newt.

Fred! This is your time.

We need an honest voice from the right.

Valiant on April 11, 2007 at 8:40 PM

Fred is the best candidate for President of the United States to come along in decades. Go for it Fred!

With Fred running it will bring me pleasure not to have to vote for who will do the least amount of damage, but who can lead the country most effectively. I sincerely hope Fred not only runs – but wins.

The possible presidential candidate bluntly said he wants to see people’s reaction before he makes a decision.

Exactly why we want him. Honest, plain-speaking.

Run Fred! Run

You all realize, we have to quickly fill the 26 million dollar gap with the Glacier.

I got a shiver of anticipation when I read that!

The Ritz on April 11, 2007 at 9:02 PM

HA is a solid base for Fred!
If he or his peeps are reading this:

Run Fred! Run!

Call me.

Tru2my2 on April 11, 2007 at 9:03 PM

Wow. Think of all the Dhemocrat pundits who couldn’t resist calling Elizabeth Edwards cancer a good polital moment for John. (This was awful BTW) I wonder what they’ll say about Fred? If you liked Mrs. Edwards’ cancer, you’ll LOVE Fred’s.

Fred is beyond cool. You just want to sit at his feet and learn.

Mojave Mark on April 11, 2007 at 9:05 PM

CAVUTO: Given your attitude, I think [your lymphoma] is afraid of you.

Dang right, America… Fred! is your Mighty Cancer-Frightener!

ScottMcC on April 11, 2007 at 9:08 PM

On Hannity, Fred went so far as to say that he wanted to see whether the illness was a disqualifier for running.

Kid from Brooklyn on April 11, 2007 at 9:28 PM

Darn. The video’s gone. Anyone know where else I can find it?

aero on April 11, 2007 at 9:29 PM

It’s another thing to like about Fred – He just sat and answered questions, and had a discussion that went beyond his prepared points. It wasn’t the scripted campaign event created by the Edwards announcement: That “It’s no longer about John, it’s about…the People” was nauseating.

eeyore on April 11, 2007 at 9:30 PM

Why is the video ‘no longer available’?
Huh?

Did he say something undeniably true or moral?

Tru2my2 on April 11, 2007 at 9:33 PM

Darn. The video’s gone.
aero on April 11, 2007 at 9:29 PM

Okay, is this just a “fair use” problem, or do we need to pull out the Black-Helicopters-flown-by-tin-foil-hat-wearing-pilots questions about supression of a reasonable conservative voice?

eeyore on April 11, 2007 at 9:38 PM

You can access the video here http://www.foxnews.com/yourworld/index.html

I imagine FOX News wanted the video taken down so that people would have to watch the video at their site.

bigbeas on April 11, 2007 at 9:40 PM

I *want* to access the video on HA, gdmt!

Apparently I’m the only one having video ‘issues’ on HA.
stop/wait/start….

Tru2my2 on April 11, 2007 at 10:38 PM

Thanks, bigbeas. Funny how it didn’t occur to me for a moment to go to the actual source.

Good stuff. Fred is doing the right thing in going public with this and listening intently to his potential supporters. He’s paying real attention to blogs, mail, and other contact with regular people who might vote for him. He’s not just listening to Washington insiders, consultants, and his own ego to make this decision. This approach is playing well to this conservative southern mom.

aero on April 11, 2007 at 10:46 PM

Any chance of him announcing on HotAir? :)

I hope Fred gets well and I hope he runs and WINS the Presidency and gets this country well too.

Yakko77 on April 11, 2007 at 11:54 PM

Imagine that, a candidate that is offering disclosure before he runs, rather than doing damage control after he announces.

I could listen to the dulcet tones of Fred! for the next 8 years. Do it Fred! do it.

The video works for me. Yes, Fred, please run. We need you.

Go for it!!!!!
You have my vote.

ic1redeye on April 12, 2007 at 12:01 PM

Fred wants to know what people think; does he have a web site where we can tell him? And does it have a pay pal button?

Bad Penny on April 12, 2007 at 1:31 PM

Neil: “Given your reaction, I frankly think the disease is afraid of you.”

Yet another Frank Fact about Fred Thompson.

Even Cancer is afraid of Fred Thompson!
