Dude, ever see Invasion USA? Came out in 1984; was one of Chuck’s many great Golan Globus cheeseball action movies. Chuck and 2 sh*tty machine pistols versus an entire terrorist army. A true guilty pleasure to watch, even better than Commando, although Chuck lacked the John Wayne swagger of Kurt Russell in Big Trouble in Little China. A classic, and much more interesting to watch than these Royal Navy surrender monkeys.

Let the sailors have at it all dribbly day on TV. The more we all see of them, with group hugs, complaining about the cut of their free suits, next it’ll be how their steaks were medium well when they preferred rare, so the stupider Iran looks trying to make them out to be “infiltrators” and so forth. Gads. This bunch was literally out for some sun sea and surf.
No Beach Boys. What a lost opportunity.

I’m afraid the guy with the good sense not to smile probably also has the good sense not to throw himself in the media circus.

I have to admit that, for the most part I have tried to give these guys the benifit of the doubt, but the more they open their mouths the more embarassed I am for the UK.

I think it was in the Hot Air comments that someone said the Revolutionary Guard probably watched the various British boats and picked out the single most ill-trained and least competent crew they could find to exploit…and then waited until they were alone and pounced.

As a retired U.S. sailor, I have immense sympathy for these Brits. Lord only knows how bad the PC has gotten in the military across the pond. They were obviously not properly trained to do the job they were given, nor what their rules of behavior ought to be if captured. I mean, who wouldn’t confess to lies if threatened with 7 years of prison?

Ok, that was about all I could stand. How could those imbeciles allow themselves to be photographed SMILING in the presence of their captor? There isn’t an American sailor I know that would have removed his uniform without a serious beating, or would have behave as if it was his birthday opening his goodie bag. Those “gifts”, even if they included Rolex watches and such, would have been left on the ground at the first opportunity.

In the military, if you are captured, you have to accept that your life is forfeit, because you don’t WANT your country to capitulate diplomatically to a tyrant for your return. You want them to pay large for the mistake of daring to mess with us.

Yes, it’s too easy for me to say that never having experienced it. But it’s how we’re trained, we believe in winning. I would never have shook his hand, never showed any but a straight face, and never given the media one iota of fuel to portray a fiend as a nice guy. And it would take more than the threat of prison to make me confess to breathing regularly, much less giving the enemy what he wants.
