I kept a straight face until I got to the part about “close Gore friend … Jon Bon Jovi” and then that was it for me, my friends.
Inhofe got it done. Nice job, crusty.
Update: According to Reuters, the Antarctica concert is most assuredly still on.
Update: The Princess links disapprovingly to this BoGlo article about a bill to make global warming a national security issue. Nothing wrong with that; if our interests are threatened, it pays to have a plan to protect them. The threat may be far fetched but that’s what military planners get paid for. The problem, of course, is that climate change is going to end up eating an outsized portion of defense spending and energy while giving the left a weak hook on which to hang their pretensions of being strong on security. They may not be tough on Assad, but they’re really tough on carbon dioxide.

Gore invented the internet, but I wouldn’t trust him to fix my computer.
Gore started this global warming craze… but would you call him for a weather forecast?
petefrt on April 10, 2007 at 11:32 AM
It will be interesting to see how much media attention Gore’s events recieve.
Free plubicity will help their sales, this would be an excellent opportunity to see which MSM components promote these events. I believe we have the opportunity to see to what degree each MSM component supports this cause by the air time the give it.
Perhaps Hot Air folk, with their unlimited resources, will keep us apprised of this coverage comparison to help us understand where the different MSM components are in their degree of support for Gore.

How many penguins will die for Gore’s concert?

Can I buy tickets with Carbon Credits?
benrand on April 10, 2007 at 11:40 AM
I hope that they scrub the place down before my beloved Giants are permitted to return.
Let’s see now: 80 thousand people are going to come to the show driving about 20,000 cars to a brightly lit stadium to hear amplified music and mansion-dwelling musicians tell them that they need to staert walking to work.
And it’s all going to be carried on NBC - which, of course, is owned by General Electric. Is this all just a cruel attempt at humor?
spd rdr on April 10, 2007 at 11:40 AM
So, if the Antarctica concert is on July 7th, does that mean the Gore effect makes certain that this temperature record will be broken?
lorien1973 on April 10, 2007 at 11:41 AM
Jon Bon Jovi and Al Gore.
That’s not even cool in Antarctica.
Hening on April 10, 2007 at 11:49 AM
Gore doesn’t even belong in this debate.
budorob on April 10, 2007 at 11:51 AM
Someone seriously needs to start a PRO-global warming movement. There are many rather cold countries that would jump at the prospect of getting some relief.
Halley on April 10, 2007 at 11:53 AM
Well, Gingrich and Kerry have been debating climate change policy on cspan for the past 2 hours. They agree on everything except how we go about preventing the massive crisis. Scratch Gingrich off your potential candidates list.
db on April 10, 2007 at 11:55 AM
This sucks. The lineup for this show is sick and it would have been in my backyard…now if I want to see the Chili Peppers, and Dave Matthews, and Bon Jovi I’ll have to drive to Jersey. Boo that. Stupid Republicans won’t even give us DC residents the right to vote, now they’re taking away our concerts.
JaHerer22 on April 10, 2007 at 11:56 AM
Who’s “The Princess?”
Slublog on April 10, 2007 at 11:56 AM
I watched this as well through internet….Kerry through up more lies than I thought was possible during that time frame. My only guess about newt is he’s trying to appeal to the center for a presidential run and not be labeled a crazy, increase positives, etc.
We need an Inhofe vs. Gore debate on this crap. And they need to be hooked up to a polygraph during debate like Kerry should’ve this time.
jp on April 10, 2007 at 11:59 AM
Gore has been silent during the unusual freezing temperatures and April Snowstorms in the Midwest and northeast. Inhofe is correct in calling global warming a hoax.
George on April 10, 2007 at 12:00 PM
An Antartic concert is a bad idea. Because it will have to be held during our winter. Who wants to fight global warming in the winter? Or they could make a huge blunder and schedule the concert during our summer. Either way I sense the Gore Effect will come into play.
Theworldisnotenough on April 10, 2007 at 12:06 PM
LMAO.
I guess Inhofe does still have some control over this (holding up gavel).
amerpundit on April 10, 2007 at 12:06 PM
you’re joking right?
wryteacher on April 10, 2007 at 12:11 PM
There you go, let it out. Let the true liberal in you come out and be heard - much like you would on DU.
Rick on April 10, 2007 at 12:13 PM
Wait..I thought it was about global warming, not your wanting to see your favorite bands. Hmm. Besides, you can’t drive to NJ to see the concert. Imagine all the carbon emissions you’ll produce. Oh, wait, are you saying your wanting to see those bands, exceeds the needs of the environment!? Polar bear killer!!!!
amerpundit on April 10, 2007 at 12:20 PM
Oh, and the Constitution gives the right to vote, to citizens of the 50 states. Until you can prove Washington DC is a state, they don’t have the Constitutional right.
amerpundit on April 10, 2007 at 12:22 PM
Another good thing about making it a defense issue would be then Dems would have to begin ignoring it.
Dwilkers on April 10, 2007 at 12:23 PM
Don’t you get it, ameripundit? It’s not about any of that. It’s the fact that poor JaHerer’s rights have been taken away by those damn evil Republicans. JaHerer can’t even vote anymore, for crying out loud!! Where’s the justice??
Rick on April 10, 2007 at 12:25 PM
These people are nuts.
Jaibones on April 10, 2007 at 12:28 PM
Meant amerpundit. Sorry, didn’t mean to intrude upon your rights.
Rick on April 10, 2007 at 12:28 PM
LMAO
Jaibones on April 10, 2007 at 12:35 PM
It’s those d*mn rethuglicans, once again quashing the vote.
dalewalt on April 10, 2007 at 12:35 PM
Who do they have giving the concert in July in Antarctica?
If it’s an outdoor concert I know of several performers who I’d like to nominate for this “honor”.
Is Streisand available? Freezing her to a singer-sicle seems like a good start…
gekkobear on April 10, 2007 at 12:40 PM
I live about 25 miles from Giants Stadium. I’ll make sure I get further away that day.
I recall when the Goracle was running in 2000, he caused a massive traffic jam on the GSP and NJ Turnpike when the roadways were shut down during rush hour in the middle of July so he could go shake down some pinheads at the energy-consuming Jon Bongiovanni mansion.
Friends of the earth, my ass.
JammieWearingFool on April 10, 2007 at 12:46 PM
But you can still attend concerts of performers that were registered prior to 1977.
rw on April 10, 2007 at 1:03 PM
JaHarer22, the reasoning behind DC’s not getting a vote is simple. Your city is of and for the federal government. All of the other cities belong to states where people send representatives and senators to manage the collective effort. Your having a representative in Congress would be equivalent to the government’s being able to vote for itself… and that is a power that, even at the 1/435 level, I do NOT want the government to have. It already has too much self-representing power by the DC suburbs’ being able to tilt Virginia and especially Maryland blue.
As for this concert at the Meadowlands, I’d like to see one of our few NJ R state representatives or senators introduce a bill stating that, in the spirit of cutting emissions and taking cars off the roads, all roads leading directly to on-site parking will be closed for inspection and repairs on the day of this event. To beat these freaks, we may have to beat them at their own game, and I suggest this endeavor to be a winning shot.
flutejpl on April 10, 2007 at 1:08 PM
This was just a dry run. We really want to take away your Rock the Vote concerts.
As a compromise, they can be held in Antarctica, too.
TexasDan on April 10, 2007 at 1:09 PM
I hear the Penguins are protesting Gore coming to Antartica
Defector01 on April 10, 2007 at 1:23 PM
The only think I expect to hear that weekend (4th of July) is the ice tinkling in my glass!!
Dread Pirate Roberts VI on April 10, 2007 at 1:29 PM
I really don’t miss the Jersey GSP. Especially in the Northern counties. Drive five miles, pay 35 cents, drive five miles, pay 35 cents, drive miles, pay 35 cents, or drop a token.
Reason for all the toll barriers? Cause it will reduce traffic congestion. Add AlGore and Bon Bon Jovi you have the Garden State
ParkwayParking Lot.How will John Corzine pay for all those carbon credits?
Talent lineup? If you call it talent, then you believe in Global Warming.
Kini on April 10, 2007 at 1:35 PM
Uh…hahaha…you know that bill is proposed by Chuck Hagel and Dick Durbin and basically assumes the same language as that bill that was supposed to look at AIDS as a national security threat, right?
Yeah, not what I’m paying my defense tax money for.
E. M. on April 10, 2007 at 1:35 PM
When my brother was in the Air Force, stationed in Japan for a few years, he registered to vote in the elections where my family lived. I propose that all US citizens who are not residents of any State have this same ability to choose where they want to vote. That covers DC, PR, VI, etc. all in one swell foop, along with expatriates whose incomes are still taxed.
And JawohlMeinHerr will STFU about the ‘right to vote’ (which is an oxymoron).
The Monster on April 10, 2007 at 1:41 PM
I wonder if Bon Jovi is going to change the lyrics of his songs a la Streisand?
Imagine…
Earth’s got a fever got a man-made disease
Al Gore is here to prescribe a remedy
I got lots of money carbon credits are what I need
Gonna take more than a hybrid to save the earth and land and sea
I got all the symptoms count em 1,2,3
First the bears
They’re starving and floating away
No one cares
We’re fat and happy and like it that way
Say your prayers
Earth is warming and there’s nothing to say
And now we’re gonna die because you drove your SUV
Carbon fuels are like bad medicine
Carbon credits are what we need
Clean the earth, from this bad medicine
Al Gore is here, he’s gonna
Cure our disease
Bad, bad medicine
Bad, bad medicine
Slublog on April 10, 2007 at 1:47 PM
Wonderful. The last time the Goracle visited Bon Jovi’s place for a little fundraising here at the jersey shore, his entourage’s security needs closed the southbound Garden State Parkway and the NJ Turnpike from Newark Airport to Middletown, at evening drive time. Hundreds of thousands overtaxed NJ commuters be damned.
Man of the people

We’ve gotta educate those neo-con stuffed-tuxedo penguins that breathing and farting is ruining their habitat.
infidel4life on April 10, 2007 at 3:00 PM
Well, that pretty much explains EVERYTHING.
LegendHasIt on April 10, 2007 at 4:25 PM
In keeping with the environmental theme, is the concert going to be all acoustic; that is to say “unplugged”? Will the audience be required to pick up all of their trash? Will there be bicycle only parking lots available? The list of eco-friendly possibilities is endless.
DAT60A3 on April 10, 2007 at 4:28 PM
Are you really that dumb? The Republicans did not take away your right to vote.
right2bright on April 10, 2007 at 8:09 PM
This is the funniest part, I can just see these pin heads planning this event…………. “Hey, let’s have a concert in the middle of Summer when it’s real hot, and we’ll even have a performance in Antarctica to show all the melting ice!” “Yeah, good idea!”, “Yeah, we’ll show them!” “Rock On”…………..
Uhhhhhhhh, people, when it is Summer in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s Winter in the South. I can’t wait to see how this is going to turn out………..
PinkyBigglesworth on April 10, 2007 at 9:51 PM
No worries there. Inhofe is a Senator from my state and about as staunchly conservative as you can get.
