I mostly agree with what you say. I do think that there has always been kids behaving badly; the difference is now everything is caught on video which encourages more of the same. Technology huh.

By defending Richard Pryor, I feel that, maybe not intended, you are defending a position that is, in this political climate, not acceptable.

Thanks for making your opinion clear. I honestly did not get what you were saying. Banning certain words from the common lexicon in the name of comity is certainly a valid argument. If that was what was happening here I might even agree. I don’t like the n-word and avoid racial humor just because it sounds acrimonious coming from a pale American.

What Imus is going through, with a great deal of the fault being his own, is a trial by people who are attempting to enforce a speech code on one set of Americans that doesn’t apply to another. That is what I object to. Imus’ comment was offensive because he insulted those girls. The Jackson’s and Sharpton’s of the world are making a racial issue because it serves their purposes.

I am wondering if this is the beginning of the left’s attempt to reinstate the fairness doctrine by generating a “need” for it by holding up Imus as an example.

Of course, it would apply to conservative talk-radio and loudmouths like Imus, but not to Rosie (who after all, is only speaking “truth to power”). /sarcasm

This is why I don’t want the right to fall into the PC trap. Condemn Imus for his insulting manner. Hold up Rosie for scorn because of the meaning of what she says. But never say certain words are forbidden to some but not to others. That is a recipe for balkanization along racial and ethnic lines.

You are mixing in quotes and a book you have read and coming up with a conclusion that the “MSM” is contriving to make sure a black man is elected.

I don’t see the proof that this is the case. It is an interesting theory but no more so (or proveable) than the theories that Halliburton somehow controls the GOP.

Mr O hit the nail on the head: “Hate sells and MSNBC is selling hate”. Could a clearer point have been made? Imus has been selling this crap right along with Howard Stern. There’s no difference, and his charity off-sets aren’t enough to smooth it over.

My conclusions are based on a lifelong look at the Civil Rights Industry! We have watched them at work for many years. And now we have watched it fade to a near non existance. And it is the fear of its extinction that has started this last wave to keep it alive.

Tell me ONE place in America today where racism is accepted? If you can muster one place that it is accepted, you wont find that it has an ounce of authority in America today. No one has the power to limit the lives of ANY race in this Country.

I encourage you to read Shelby Steele’s book “White Guilt; How Blacks & Whites Together Destroyed the Promise of the Civil Rights Movement” He makes the points above that I firmly agree with.

Steele: “In the 60’s we made the worst decision in our entire history: to get ahead by manipulating white guilt.”

OR

Steele: “Anger is a means; a tool; a form of opportunism. In my entire life I have rarely seen genuine racial outrage.”

I believe that there is movement in its last throes and it is the FAKE civil rights movement of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Julian Bond, et al…

There is genuine desperation that exists to keep it alive, especially since the Left’s candidate du jour happens to be black.

I will predict that this attempt to enrage blacks will continue. It will continue in this same media/Hollywood hyped form that it has since Kramer made his infamous remarks.

Have you examined just how many of these types of situations have popped up lately?
