You know, I can’t say that I have the devotion to these candies that some people have; however, this story is both outrageous and hilarious.

I was furious so I wrote them a letter:

Upon further reflection, and after reviewing a picture of Rosie the Inquisitor, I have come to the conclusion that she has never considered the caloric count of food items and I should not have been surprised that she misunderstands the importance of smaller portions.

And ya know, those McDonald’s chicken selects, the chicken strips used when they first introduced them seemed so much better than the ones they sell now.

And a gallon of gas does not cost 70 cents any more…

Really, I enjoy when this stuff is pointed out, but any business that sells the same thing at the same size for the same price for all time is going to go under.

Cadbury was just responding to all the hysteria surround the obesity epidemic in America by reducing the size of the eggs and lowering their calories per serving. I’m surprised that Her Holiness; Rosie the Inquisitor, didn’t realize this.

There was a bit of a brouhaha in Britain some years back during “metricization,” because many manufacturers were “rounding down” during the conversion to neat metric amounts – the end result being many products at the same price with less contents.

When “juice in a soda can” started to become popular in the 90s here in the US they started to do the same thing – 11.55-ounce cans made neater metric numbers. A lot of artsy drinks in bottles also have odd sizes, like 10.5 ounces.

I’ve got no problem with companies trying to make a profit, but there is such a thing as false advertising.

Imagine making a car with fake rear doors. Or clothes with fake pockets (I’ve seen that one!).

I bought a couple of them, threw the bag on the front seat and drove home.

When I got home, I noticed that one had rolled out of the bag and I had been sitting on it the whole way home.

No mess. It had hatched, and there was a Peep there.
