Wow big surprise, she doesn’t like “scary” republican rednecks. Running around chasing trespassers with a gun. Wonder what you and Silky would do if some uninvited people came onto your property? Throw a few more steaks on grill and pop open a cold one? I doubt it. Probably call the police, you know the “scary” men/women with guns. Did Ms. Silky ever stop to consider he doesn’t like stuck up ~~rich people~~ democrats?

Of all the things I don’t understand about liberals, this hypocrisy – this simultaneous claim of being for the “little guy” and then supporting people like Edwards – has always been the greatest mystery.

I will never, ever understand this. It just amazed me in 2004 when they nominated Kerry, who (thanks to his two weathly wives) was exponentially wealthier than any Republican candidate. Hwo do liberals DO that? How do they wrap their minds around the paradox?

More than anything else, it was that that drove me out of the Democratic Party.

I may disagree with their politics, but I understand liberal support of Dennis Kucinich or Ralph Nader. They’re wrong, but those men believe in what they claim to believe.

But John Edwards with his 20,000 square foot house, even while he preaches on his “two Americas” meme? Al Gore with his Bell Meade mansion and his sky-high energy bills? John frickin’ Kerry?

I’ll never understand how liberals so eagerly embrace such staggering hypocrisy.

There’s always the possibility that it’s too good to be true. Secondary sourcing would be useful in this case. There no danger really of any Edwardses meeting the neighbors. From the look of the structural enhancements of the estate, the kids will never have to step outside into the sunshine for anything.

Hot Air is now the only place I can find this story. Drudge has removed it from his page. Apparently none of the networks have the stones to carry this. I emailed Boortz and Hannity (not privliged enough to email Rush). I also emailed Ted Nuggent (never know), and the Orange County Republican Party. Everyone’s taking Imus’ comments to task, why not Ms. Liz? Maybe this Monty is a scummy redneck (though I doubt it), but he was there first!

No kidding, like I said earlier, let’s get this guy a little money so he can keep pissing herself off. I’m with Herr M – but I haven’t shot a coon this week. Why should Mr. Johnson leave his family’s home just because some whacko doesn’t like the way his property looks? If he’s lived there all his life, the property looked exactly the same when those a$$holes bought that land, did it not? Did it suddenly become holy when $5.3 million got laid on their side of it???

This is pretty funny, really. From where does Madame Edwards hail?
“Right of way” workers – from the Edwards estate perhaps? They’ve got quite a chunk of the neighborhood already, wonder if Mr. Johnson was probably right to go out and deter the fellahs from setting the boundary markers inside his side of the line.
Just observed a displaced New Yorker whinging about how she can understand all kinds of foreign accents, but not the Southern twangs she is forced to endure every day now. Yeh, sure you can’t. And they can’t understand after spouting off like that in public, why the locals aren’t interested in making friends with them. One fellow, thinking he had a sympathetic ear asked, (in that tone), “So, how do you like it here?”
I replied, “I love it. I left my front door open by mistake while I was away for 10 hours, wide open, and not a soul came in, not a thing touched. My cars are unlocked, my garage door open. No crodws are rioting up and down the street shooting with tear gas billowing, and everyone is really nice to us.”
He was stunned, then he replied after a moment, “Gee, I guess it’s all how you look at it, isn’t it?”
“Yep.”

As to dealing with trespassers in the south….

I’ve traveled in Kentucky, Tennesse, West Virginia, Virginia, Georgia, and North Carolina.

My wife spent several months working in “moonshine” country in rural Tennessee.

She and I have seen signs that promise that trespassers will be shot — not the cutsey ones that add “survivors will be shot again” — but simple, direct, to-the-point messages to STAY OFF THE PROPERTY OR ELSE.

Personally, I have chosen to NOT tempt fate by seeing if they are bluffing.

Oh. Did I mention that many of those signs were in Illinois and Wisconsin?

I wish Mr. Johnson the best of luck dealing with his assh*le neighbors.

The medical malpractice law suits by lawyers like Edwards have had two unintended consequences:

The first is that some specialists are either relocating out of states that don’t have “pain and suffering” caps, or they are getting out of the business.

The second is that some doctors will refuse to treat trial lawyers who prosecute medical malpractice, except on an emergency basis. Doctors, like lawyers, are not required to accept any and all patients, unless the ailment has immediate life-threatening consequences if not treated. Then they are ethically and legal bound to provide treatment.

The docs call it practicing defensive medicine.

Given who John Edwards is, it would not surprise me to read that he sues the doctors and the hosptials involved in treating his wife’s cancer, unless they were very, very careful to pre-immunize themselves against it.

I believe Mr. Johnson has the temerity to own “Big Valley Auto Repair”, which sits across the road from Edwards’ America. And I suspect Mr. Johnson doesn’t only work on Mercedes and hybrids. So having all those cars out in front is just too slummy for Elizabeth. And I wonder if “chasing workers” with a gun may have been simply walking up to a group strangers on his property with a soflty asked “Howdy, boys. What ya’ll doing here?”

And her attitude has support locally. The nearby town of Carrboro refused to grant a permit for a used-car dealership. Speaking at a public hearing, the former Mayor said something to the effect of “We’re not trying to create a boutique town here, but the businesses we have need to reflect our values, including our committment to public transportation…”

Dirt-bike racing, four-wheeling, fireworks, rock bands — $10 a head, BYOB, camp out, and be as loud as you want to be. Put up banner ads on Free Republic.

I figure Ted Nugent would play that gig for free, maybe Charlie Daniels, too.
