Video: ABC warns of Global Warming — after piece on record cold!
posted at 5:00 pm on April 8, 2007 by Ian
ABC’s “World News Tonight” suggested ideas for “coping with the warming planet” after a piece on the record cold snap that hit the country this week.
Hat tip to Noel Sheppard at Newsbusters who writes:
On Saturday evening, ABC’s “World News Tonight” kicked off its new series “Going Green” with “fresh ideas for coping with the warming planet.”
Quite comically, this was just minutes after anchor David Muir led the program with a report captioned “Arctic Easter” detailing the “brutally cold temperatures across much of the Eastern half of the country…where there could be record lows overnight.”
The video at the top is a compilation of both clips.

To be sure, ABC, when not indulging in their scurrilous put-down of religion, is now indulging in the scurrilous process of creating the news – again. And since Anna Nicole Smith is now below global warming temperature, they’re having to get back to their ‘sky is falling’ ways of scaring the public about something that doesn’t exist.
By the way, did ABC in their “Going Green” special explained how earth’s anthropogenic global warming is also effecting the warming occurring on other plants? I thought not.

How can the planet be warming? It was cold outside today!

I’ve got their global warming; we’re going to be at least 6 degrees below normal here in the land of ice cream and cold-filtered beer straight through next week Tuesday according to the Global Warming Channel’s 10-day forecast.
steveegg on April 8, 2007 at 5:35 PM
It was bitterly cold today in the Washington area. Our priest said “Happy Easter, or should I say Merry Christmas with the weather outside.”
The environmentalists have it covered, though. If it actually starts turning colder or there is a cold snap, they then start calling it “global climate change” instead of “global warming.”
How they can explain Mars warming up with no human impact is a question you will never see the MSM pose.
januarius on April 8, 2007 at 5:35 PM
Gorebal warming is a religion for these environmental-wackos.

Anybody want to share my global warming? We’ve had blizzard conditions for about days now and over 3 feet of snow. I was in the grocery store 2 days ago and two people were talking about global warming in front of me at the check out. I couldn’t help but bust out laughing and when they looked at me, I replied “you guys aren’t serious are you? You two are in for a real shock when you step outside and can’t find your car”. Made my day!!
ChrisIansNana on April 8, 2007 at 6:13 PM
My wildflowers made their appearance right on time this year, and then promptly got freezer burned. I found some of the rarer ones today looking pretty ragged. While not happy about it, they and everything else will survive. Funny how the earth has a way of healing itself, isn’t it? And that’s the larger point. The global warming freaks are the urbanites that can’t tell a muskrat from a meadowlark or a trillium from a titmouse, but they know what’s good for us and all of those creatures.
HerrMorgenholz on April 8, 2007 at 6:30 PM
Here in Texas we are experience winter in April for the first time in 49 years. That’s hardly what one might expect during a global warming period. The only thing that is certain in climate conditions is that it is constantly changing.
docdave on April 8, 2007 at 6:36 PM
How many of these types of people think that Christ’s resurrection is a “myth” but global warning is “hard science.”
Mallard T. Drake on April 8, 2007 at 6:41 PM
AMEN!
ChrisIansNana on April 8, 2007 at 6:45 PM
Mallard, they all do! They now have their own religion and Albore is their high priest. Typical liberal drivel? I don’t know, but I do know they are serious in what they believe. Also, just follow the money. Many of these scientists are getting paid to go along with this Gorebal warming just to get grants. Real scientists who eschew Gorebal warming are being threatened. This is very real and very serious.

I love going to Drudge’s site where you see headlines like this:
Global Warming Conference Set for Wednesday.
Global Warming Conference canceled because of blizzards, heavy snow…
I just love the way he puts those together!

You got that right, Brother Drake……….
And for every paper published by the left, greenpeace, and the UN, the facts just keep getting in the way……. just don’t mention China and India.
PinkyBigglesworth on April 8, 2007 at 7:18 PM
What’s worse is the statements “It’s no longer a debate anymore…” and the media falls right in line.
And don’t you dare oppose it!
You thought the inquistions were bad?
PinkyBigglesworth on April 8, 2007 at 7:28 PM
Well…. If these people would stop buying all these
carbon credits we might have some decent weather.
Bwahahahah….
Texyank on April 8, 2007 at 7:35 PM
It’s all part of AlBore’s “persuasion campaign” he promised us. SCOTUS is online, now naming CO2 as a pollutant. We’re nearly set to send the Great Bore our hard earned tax dollars for carbon offsets while China churns out pollution by the bucketful and poisons our pets with impunity. This will someday be known as the greatest scam ever carried out. Stand by for more GLOBAL WHINING and keep looking past the man behind the curtain for the political agenda.

Nothing like contradicting your own news.
If you can call it news. Call it sensationally global events.
Wait till summer, then the fun really starts.

A lot of my family ate lunch at my aunt and uncle’s house today… in the few hours we were there we got roughly 6-8 inches of snow. Global warming!!!
Check out my 15 day forecast… Global warm this biatches!

With the way the weather has been lately you’d think they’d drop the whole ‘global warming’ thing and go back to the ‘global cooling’ scare of the ’70s. You know, when we’d be living in an iceage come the milleneum. Personaly, I’m starting to hope for a little global warming…be nice to air my house out after a winter of being closed up…
wolfva on April 8, 2007 at 9:56 PM
Beautiful. That was Gorebelicious.
It’s amzing how fast the libs can take a nothing and make it a something. What some of us are forgetting is how fast they then make things nothings again. This whole Gorebal warming thing will be a nothing again in the 2010′s. Then we’ll be on to something else.
global freeze (now a nothing)
nuclear winter (now a nothing)
vanishing ozone (now a nothing)
disappearing rain forest (now a nothing)
global warming
*the next stupid lemming thing*

The piece seemed to be more about alternative energy than global warming…I’m all for achieving affordable solar power despite what I think about the non-threat of global warming.
starflyer on April 8, 2007 at 10:52 PM
Mojave Mark: We are being led down a path to destruction. Libs will tax us into infinity for Gorebal warming. As I said earlier, follow the money… Gorebal Warming is junk science, but the libs see it as a new religion and they will milk it for all it is worth. Mark my words.
Neocon Peg on April 8, 2007 at 10:55 PM
Actually the Gorifice has been pushing this for some time, just nobody took him seriously until the Kyoto scheme came to be, which essentially was an attempt at a Global (Gorebal?) tax.
Since Kyoto was thrown under the bus, as it should have been, Gorebal warming suddenly became a way to poke Bush in the eye over Kyoto.
It wasn’t too long ago CFC’s and the Ozone hole were the causes du jour.
Interesting how quiet the drive by media get when it’s abnormally cold out.

The only thing that could have made the CBS news pieces even better would have been a report on a sighting of the “Man Bear Pig”. I’m totally serial!!!

Correction: ABC not CBS. It’s early and I need some coffee!

Yesterday in her Easter sermon, my (liberal/leftist) Pastor indirectly compared James Inhofe with Ahmedinejad — Global Warming denier vs Holocaust denier.
It truly is a religious position to the left.
Jaibones on April 9, 2007 at 6:49 AM
Ya think ABC has a Marxist agenda? Ya think? NBC and CBS too? Ya think? And where should I send my carbon credit check to Al Bore? I’ll be driving the V-8 today!
lynnv on April 9, 2007 at 8:00 AM
That’s because you’re rational and intelligent. But the MSM is not, and they continue to prove it with stuff like this.
BTW, Michael Crichton (at michaelcrichton.com) has some excellent essays about how we will eventually move to better fuel sources without draconian government intervention. History proves him right; we went from burning wood to coal to petroleum (each step is increasingly more efficient and cleaner).

Dang, once again no bueno.
Can someone help me out here?

You know, this is something to consistency. How many times have the global warming deniers tch-tched any reports on record highs, stating (truthfully) that climate change needs to be observed in an aggregate, long term method?
But a cold spell? Katie bar the door!! Proof positive that there is no global warming!! Now that there is some gooood thinkin’!
honora on April 9, 2007 at 10:29 AM
Balanced news for “Chicken Little’s” everywhere.
Either “the sky is falling” and we are going to freeze…
…or…
Either “the sky is falling” and we are going to melt.
Planet Boulder on April 9, 2007 at 11:54 AM
Turn that around, honora, and you see it from a Green perspective. Record highs are “proof positive” of global warming yet record lows and inclement cold snaps are just a statical blip that should be disregarded. Sauce for the goose.
RedinBlueCounty on April 9, 2007 at 12:52 PM
Even though I KNOW Global warming is a load of Hooey, I think this solar energy thing is AWESOME.
Anything that will get me disconnected from the “grid” is fine. Why? Because I am a ham radio operator and I don’t want to HAVE to depend on my electricity coming from the local utility company.
I think going SOLAR is fantastic and finally they are getting off their asses and making it CHEAPER. WOOT!

PinkyBigglesworth on April 9, 2007 at 3:16 PM
Front page of the Daytona Beach News Journal had a small bit regarding the record cold and a huge piece on the UN’s global warming report. We’re all going roast right after we freeze!
conservativecaveman on April 9, 2007 at 3:30 PM
Don’t any of you understand it? Whenever the weather does something unpredictable, the big GL is to blame. I don’t understand how none of you can see that global warming is responsible for: colder summers, hotter summers, colder winters, hotter winters, increased activity during hurricane season, decreased activity during hurricane season, increased and decreased intensity of individual hurricanes, etc.
Anyway, I just saw an entertaining debate on Cavuto. It was the guy that wrote The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming against some Greenpeace nutjob. The ‘holocaust denier’ got the first word and immediately explained that thirty years ago the eco-wackos set about determining that the Earth was getting colder, using terms like ‘consensus’ and using ad-homenim attacks where that didn’t work. Then he said that the weather started warming, and so they did a 180, using the same methods. Then the Greenpeace guy got his turn. I swear to you that he used the word ‘consensus’ within the first three sentances, and when the conservative questioned his statements he resorted to ad-homenim! It’s rare that you get to see one debater so elegantly prove his opponents point.
Wolfman on April 9, 2007 at 5:53 PM
Actually the point of this post was the irony (and stupidity) of running a global warming story during a cold snap. I haven’t read anywhere on this blog that there is a “consensus” against global warming because of this cold snap. Look before you leap, read before you react, and think before you speak.
cmay on April 9, 2007 at 6:08 PM
Well no, the irony works only if you accept the unlying premise, that a cold snap contradicts global warming. (The last sentence there, a bit of advice, the “react” puts off the cadence, need a one syllable word there. You’re welcome.)
honora on April 10, 2007 at 9:08 AM
I’m saying I am not an expert, but the majority of experts support the idea that a significant portion of global warming is due to carbon fuel burning. Which makes me think we need to pay attention to this and not firmly take a stand on either side. Particularly people like me (and the vast majority of people) who are deeply ignorant in these matters.
honora on April 10, 2007 at 9:11 AM
Completely agree. This was a case of the gander however. (The gander being the global warming deniers……or would they be the goose. Yikes….)
