Sleep well, the Easter Bunny is watching…

Commenters in the post below this one are urging me to do a little weekend weirdness, a little internet oddity, something like AP always does.

Well, here’s an oldie but a goody–and topical, to boot:

Quote of the day is his schtick, though, so you guys can wait till Easter when Allah returns.

Wait, that sounds vaguely…not right…

Hahaha.

Nice video. I’d never seen it before.

Happy Easter, all.

What a nice message to play on a day of celebration of the Resurrection of Christ. Why don’t you just show the beheading videos over and over again? My respect for this site just took a nose dive.

RedinBlueCounty on April 8, 2007 at 12:33 PM

That was great! Sent that around to all my bunny friends.

My respect for this site just took a nose dive.

Methinks someone hasn’t properly registered the difference between the religious nature of this day and having it co-opted by a pagan symbol of fertility. Nobody is licking the cocoa-Jesus in any of these vids and pics, they’re making fun of the secular portion of the day. I suppose you’d be equally upset at vids of Christmas trees going up in flames?

In any case, a stick in the mud would be an improvement over its current location.

Looks like Google just doesn’t want to have anything to do with those icky Christians, as well as icky veterans (they skip Memorial day as well).

They like multicultural and foreign days (Persian, Japanese, Chinese – but not Jewish, of course!)

Man, Libtards can be funny sometimes.

Google’s new motto: If there were such a thing as evil-that would have been a bad thing to be.

Methinks someone has forgotten that the Easter Bunny is a image used in celebration, like birthday candles on a cake. Gratuitous violence is not humorous and denigrates the meaning of this joyous occasion.

As far as Christmas trees gong up in flames, I would be very upset if the image of Santa Claus lighting those trees were displayed. Once again, gratuitous violence is not humorous.

Once again, the bunny is a symbol used in celebration of a joyous occasion. Even as a child I understood that symbols are important and I knew that the bunny was a means of spreading joy and NOT a symbolic representation of Christ. Just because you don’t find a bunny in the Bible doesn’t mean that it has no value as a symbol of joy to many people.

This video is an insult and link should have never been posted. Violence is NEVER funny.

RedinBlueCounty on April 9, 2007 at 2:31 PM

Good grief, it’s the freaking Easter Bunny, a corporate copout to keep the money flowing without technically supporting the religious nature of the day, not someone dressed up as Jesus asking for a little help to get this big rock out of the way.

James on April 9, 2007 at 2:32 PM

Good grief, you’re condoning gratuitous violence on the day that we celebrate the Resurrection of Christ! Jesus died because the violence of Mankind and you celebrate this by showing people get assaulted? That’s not the message I would portray on Easter.

Face it, it was a very insulting and demeaning image to display during a joyous occasion that lot of people celebrate. This is not something I would expect from HotAir. This is more in line with what the Daily Kos does.

RedinBlueCounty on April 9, 2007 at 2:44 PM

You know what…you’re right. I’m going to go out and protest the next time they show Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer on TV because of the gratuitous dental maiming of the Bumble. He was TORTURED and permanently crippled, all for a cheap laugh. My God, do you know how many children see this every year? Will someone please think of them?

Since you fail to understand why I find this video disgusting, let me see if I can explain it in a way that you and others will understand.

The Easter Bunny is an image that millions and millions of people instantly recognize as synonymous with Easter, the celebration of the Resurrection of Christ. It is similar to that of Santa Claus being synonymous with Christmas, the celebration of Christ’s birth. It doesn’t matter how that image begain, it doesn’t matter how corporations, businesses, and people in general use that image, it only matters that a lot of people see that image as synonymous with the way we celebrate Easter.

This video takes that image and, through the use of gratuitous violence, tuns it into nothing more than a sick joke. That is not funny, it’s not funny at all.

RedinBlueCounty on April 9, 2007 at 4:55 PM

Oh, I understood exactly why you found this video disgusting, believe me. You, however, simply didn’t understand why that made it a moral imperative to needle you about it:

You sound like a fool when you make a joke about the Easter Bunny into an attack on Jesus.

It would be the same thing as me taking the Bumble’s misfortune and saying that for this outrage, the Tooth Fairy must die.

Or a Mohammed cartoon. Your choice.

James on April 9, 2007 at 5:32 PM

Get real James, you’re “moral imperative” is nothing more than a need justify the fact that you find this type of humor acceptable.

I can understand why some would find the use of the image Easter Bunny performing acts of violence as a humorous juxtaposition of the idea that Jesus was a man of peace as most Christians believe. Look, it’s the Easter Bunny beating people up! So much for peaceful Christianity! The bunny’s beating people up! Ha Ha Ha, that’s funny!

Guess what, that’s not funny. That’s insulting to the extreme!

This video was nothing more than a disrespectful portrayal of violence which used an image most people find synonymous with Easter. To add insult to injury, the decision was made to post a link to this video on Easter and on a site that has run several threads objecting to attacks on Christianity and its religious believes.

I saw this right after returning from church with my family and just before my friends and family started our yearly neighborhood Easter Egg hunt with our children. I am always amazed by the expressions of joy my children display when they find goodies like easter eggs and chocolate bunnies. After the hunt we gather together and discuss Christ, His life, His death and His Resurrection. We talk about the impact that He made upon the world. In other words, we discuss Easter and the reason for our celebration which includes, by the way, images like the Easter Bunny.

Just because the bunny is not found in the bible does not mean that it is not associated with Easter. Do you really think that people consider the bunny as a religious symbol? No, they don’t, but they do consider it a representation of Easter and people degrade that when they use it in a violent video. Every person I told about this was disgusted as I. Let me say it again, gratuitous violence is NOT funny, especially when it includes images that are synonymous with religious celebrations like Easter.

The only fools here are those that refuse to acknowledge that using an image that most associate with Easter in a video portraying gratuitous violence is insulting to those who, like me, who believe in Christ and celebrate His resurrection. It would be no different than posting on Christmas Eve link to a video showing Santa Claus shooting people! Ha Ha, Santa’s a killer! Isn’t that funny! Never mind the fact that most people associate the image of Santa with Christmas, a celebration of the birth of Christ. Never mind the fact that Christmas is considered the season of peace. Santa’s killing people! That’s just plain funny! Right? Wrong!

I hope that this type of “humor” will not be repeated as it reflects poorly on this site and it’s owners
