In an interview with CBS’ Public Eye blog, News Correspondent Allen Pizzey said McCain calling some neighborhoods in Iraq “safe” is “utter rubbish” and called him “disgraceful.”
Here’s a transcript of the exchange:
Brian Montopoli: It seems that some reporters, including yourself and CNN’s Michael Ware, have really taken umbrage at John McCain’s recent comments, essentially saying that there are a lot of neighborhoods where you can walk around relatively safely. Is it fair to say that that really sort of bothered reporters?
Allen Pizzey: Yes. It’s disgraceful for a man seeking highest office, I think, to talk utter rubbish. And that is utter rubbish. It’s electoral propaganda. It is simply not true. No one in his right mind who has been to Baghdad believes that story.
Now, McCain and some other senators were there on Sunday, and they claimed, “Oh, we walked around for a whole hour…and we drove in from the airport. Gosh, aren’t we great, we drove in from the airport.” Excuse me, Mr. McCain, you drove in in a large convoy of heavily armed vehicles. The last one had a sign on it saying “Keep back 100 yards. Deadly force authorized.” Every single car that they approached or passed pulled over and stopped, because that’s the way it is. When one of those security details goes by, every ordinary person gets the hell out of the way, in case they get shot.
If he did walk around that market, and I didn’t see him do it, and he didn’t announce he was going to do it, you can bet your life there were an awful lot of soldiers deployed to make sure that nobody came near that place. He’s talking rubbish. And he should not get away with it.
Well, someone’s tossing around utter rubbish. But it’s not McCain. Baghdad isn’t heaven, but it isn’t one gigantic, roiling cauldron of violence either.

McCain isn’t my favorite politician but that two-bit punk Pizzey isn’t fit to wipe his brow. McCain is a national hero . . . Pizzey is a flaming ass.

The media and the dems, (same thing, really) are deathly afraid of ANY success coming out of Iraq. The sniveling cowards are pathetic.
How utterly unconscionable is it to pander and advocate for defeat.
I am so sick of this defeatist crap.

Look on the bright side of these kind of attacks. They may cause John McCain to realize that the the mainstream media is no friend of his and that he has a mission of defending the military and the Iraq War at a time that the Democrats seem h3ll bent on defeat and appeasement.

Pizzey is going to regret that remark. McCain walked freely among people who could have stuck a knife in him or sniped him from a distance. And one hour is more than long enough for the baddies to spread the word and get someone in position to take ANY KIND OF ACTION, regardless of the outcome, that would have put a serious dent in the surge plan and it’s perceived effectiveness. I am positive that pelosi et al were working their wiccan spells and praying to their dark lords that something would happen to McCain so they could scream “I told you so!!!”.

Anyone who deviates from the lefty talking points becomes a blasphemer who must be demonized. McCain is now a heretic in the eyes of the MSM priesthood. He must be cast out! Excommunicated!
If the MSM really believed in free speech, which is to say, if they believed in American values, this would be a point of debate where evidence for all points of view would be debated and weighed. However, the MSM has no patience for other points of view outside its own political agenda and immediately moves to suppress them.

Objective. Nice.
Pizzey, I hope this spreads like wildfire, you tool.

I’ll tell you what’s disgraceful; that beaver pelt on top of his head. You’d think he could at least afford a decent rug.

McCain’s disgraceful, but not for any of the reasons this numbskull put forth.

Perhaps if the media didn’t talk up the terrorist they would lose hope and leave. Perhaps if the left would fight for victory we could have demoralized the enemy and Baghdad would be safe and thousands of live would not have been lost… sorry for spouting rubbish CBS, oh btw, I had some documents faxed to me from an “unimpeachable source” that proves CBS News is run by commies. Want to see? Thought not.

There should be some oversight hearing.
Committees need to be put together looking into this.
THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

The stain marks on the lock up toilet at your local “County” jail, has more credibility than Allen Pizzey.
