Video: Rudy tells media to show a “little decency” and stop attacking his wife

posted at 2:00 am on April 4, 2007 by Ian

After Rudy said his wife would join some cabinet meetings, the media went into a feeding frenzy. They happened to be right about that, but I wish they had showed as much interest with the Clinton co-presidency. Rudy fired back yesterday, telling the media to “attack me all you want,” but “show a little decency” when it comes to his family.

The former New York City mayor is fending off increased media scrutiny of his third wife — the former Judith Nathan. Rudy is now asking the media to back off.

“Attack me all you want,” Giuliani said. “There’s plenty to attack me about. Please do it. But maybe, you know, show a little decency.”

Good luck with that.

Was it really necessary to refer to her as his third wife?

Of course it is. But don’t you dare say Barack Obama’s middle name.Or Barack for that matter, he’s “Barry” y’all.

Good God! Didn’t he learn anything the first two times!

No chance of the media backing off. He got a better chance of having cocktails with O.B.L. tonight.

After Rudy said his wife would join some cabinet meetings, the media went into a feeding frenzy.

Why wouldn’t they? 40 plus Presidents later and she would be the first wife with any input.

Reminds me of back in the day while in grade school . . . is that your comeback? If that’s all he’s got then how is he going to keep them at bay when he’s in the White House?

P.S. Rudy, support Fred!, think of your children, think of your wife.

He’s not ready for primetime, but he’ll be the next president never the less. I’ve been saying Rudy vs. Hillary, with Rudy winning for a while… He’s not “my candidate”, but this is just the way it’s going to be. (Unless a lot of things change)

The media are now scurrying back to their reference books, to find out what the word “decency” means.

I’m waiting for Hilarys bimbo eruption. The closet is getting too small for her to stay in much longer.

roninacreage on April 4, 2007 at 8:25 AM

Hey Rudy – show a little decency yourself and withdraw from the race.

Rudi’s just fed the media some Prime New York Strip Red Meat. This could easily lead to daily poke-in-the-eye pieces about Judy.

I don’t know if Rudi is just thin-skinned, or if he’s waiting as long as he can before he pulls out some serious Noo Yawk manners and either responds in kind, or we start seeing some juicy in flagrante delicto information begin to mysteriously appear about media folks.

Well, roninacreage, I’m bettting that every carpet that Hillary has cleaned got an autographed picture of Vince Foster in the mail.

I wil not settle for a liberal republican who supports illegal immigration.
I will not.
I will not.
I will not.

And don’t even mention how Hillary helped run the country.

amerpundit on April 4, 2007 at 9:47 AM

Has anybody asked Hillary if she became president (shudder), would Bill be allowed in some cabinet meetings?

taznar on April 4, 2007 at 9:52 AM

It’s things like this where Rudy shines the most. You see, whenever any standard politician voices concern about things like this, it just sounds fake. But with Rudy, every word is as genuine as can be. I love it, “Please attack me.” That’s classy. He just said give his wife a break.

Compare his approach to the many other politicians and their garbled statements that request privacy. Rudy wins again.

Too unattractive with no hair… same fate as Hillary – although in her case it’s has to do with her gender (sadly enough, but true)…

Gulliani didn’t show decency to his second wife… , no?

He is just in it to make a little cash before Rommney wins it…

ar_basin on April 4, 2007 at 10:32 AM

Decency?

You’re dreamy Rudy.

csdeven on April 4, 2007 at 11:04 AM

If the attacks were personal attacks, then they were out of line.

However, if the attacks were attacks on whether or not she was qualified to participate in cabinet meetings – well, that seems legitimate.

By saying that she might participate in the political process if he’s elected, Rudy makes his wife a public figure. However, if the attacks were personal in nature, the media was out of line (not that they have ever cared about that).

JadeNYU on April 4, 2007 at 11:55 AM

Marriages are like cats. One, fine. Two, ok. Three, getting a little dicey…..

I find it hilarious that Rudy is going all pious, “no personal attacks on my wife”, when in fact HE launched very foul attacks on HIS OWN WIFE–#2–when he was attempting to ditch her in favor of wife #3. Does this pass the laugh test?

honora on April 4, 2007 at 12:42 PM

If I were President, I would appoint my Wife to a high-level Cabinet position just to piss of the life long politico’s (you know, those that stay in office for more than two terms) and the MSM lackeys that support them. A little revolution now and then can be a good thing.

RedinBlueCounty on April 4, 2007 at 2:31 PM

I have to agree with honora. I was struck with the irony of Rudy’s statement.
