I’m a Christian, but does our President have to be? I’d certainly prefer a Morman over a Muslim … It seems that America has had Divine assistance in so much of her history, and I pray God continues to guide us in electing our Presidents. As long as we move forward with decent, good leaders of genuine integrity, who have our country’s and our citizens’ best interest in the forefront of their minds (yes, I’m thinking W! Except for the immigration stuff – I just don’t get his position there) —- then, I believe we will continue to be strong, righteous, and blessed.

I think we are too cynical about politicians to trust one that seems perfect, so people keep looking for flip-flops or something. Guess what–maybe there isn’t any?

As far as religion goes, I suppose to me, even if I wasn’t LDS, the fact that libs and Dems hate the Mormons more than they do even the Conservative Southern Christians is sort of reassuring to me, in a “if they hate them so much, they MUST be doing something right” style of thing. The fact that anti-Mormon prejudice is still socially acceptable on many fronts (not just from libs) is a curious phenomenon. Yet it undoubtedly exists–just see what the comments at say, the Washington Post when they do a Romney story. I honestly think that the Left in this country hates Mormons more than they do Islamic terrorism. And so do some so-called Christians as well.

Because, in the words of Dennis Miller, Romney’s “too slick by half.” He’s too tangled up in the ballet dance of primary fundraising to show much agression. I think you’d like him far more when he’s under pressure.

He’s a pressure player. I think we’ll start seeing that side of him come December/January or so.

I still think if the Mormon Thing is gonna Kill him, that a ticket of “Fred Thompson / Mitt Romney 2008″ would work for me!

I think I know why. Because he is the “Bad Guy Politician” right out of Central Casting via hollywood.
We’ve seen variations of the slick, well spoken, good looking, but ultimately evil conservative politician in made-for-tv movies for decades, and they’ve all been Mitt Romney! (Except for last years 24, where the bad guy was Nixon).

Hollywood’s been ringing this dinner bell for a long long time. Now here’s Mitt, and like Pavlov’s dogs, we’re having the conditioned response, the little voice in our heads that says—

I have two thoughts here. First gmcjetpilot does not represent this site. Second, he’s saying things that are going to be brought up throughout the campaign. This site is simply a microcosm for the political conversation that we will hear on the runnup to this election. Romney’s Mormanism will be an issue and it will be an issue that I predict he handles just fine with eloquence and dignity. gmcjetpilot seems to have an odd obsession with Mormanism which is a reflexion of ignorance. Either he knows more then us and we are ignorant or he is ignorant. I’m leaning towards the latter.
