Video: Fox’s Keenan suggests Michelle should replace Elisabeth on The View

posted at 2:20 am on April 4, 2007 by Ian

Fox News’ Terry Keenan suggested “The View” should hire an “articulate conservative” like Laura Ingraham or Michelle Malkin to battle Rosie. The better move would be to lose Joy Behar and replace her with Laura or Michelle. Joy’s as clueless as Rosie and even less entertaining to watch. O’Reilly replied that “we don’t want Michelle on there because we like her here.”

And that’s our attitude ’round these parts too. Plus, MM would annihilate Big Ro pdq. It would be a quick debate, but fun to watch while it lasted.

I second keeping MM far far far far far far far far far far far far far far away from “The View” and Roastie. It’s bad enough having to see that mug here once or twice a week! Please for the love of my eye and ear bill please do not even remotely think about it. Unless……….

we get a Thunderdome deal because MM would the one leaving.

What about Ann? Muahaha!!!

MirCat on April 4, 2007 at 2:33 AM

How about putting Michael Savage on in drag? I’d watch.

Kevin M on April 4, 2007 at 2:36 AM

oh yes Ann would be hilarious, it be a cat fight every morning, damn I even watch.:P

djohn669 on April 4, 2007 at 2:37 AM

I don’t think Rosie could keep her(it’s?) hands off MM or Laura…..oh….that did not come out right….

TBinSTL on April 4, 2007 at 3:01 AM

It would be fun to watch her spar with them though, or with Ann.

But Rosie has a bigger mouth and would do what she does now: Talk louder and drown out any sense of reason.

Karl on April 4, 2007 at 3:11 AM

Nah, not worth it. Michelle’s too much of a lady to face that loudmouth. It would turn into a yell fest with you know who’s big mouth winning…

rotorhead on April 4, 2007 at 3:24 AM

What about MKH? :-)

Watcher on April 4, 2007 at 3:41 AM

What ever happened to the disclaimer….” The views of this host does not in anyway, be, condoned, or, (legal speak) by this network or it’s sponsors….”

I guess Rosie ate that, too…… (I would have a full life, if someone, anyone, would on the air, when Rosie interupted a comment, turned to her, and said, “Hey, Rosie! You have had your chance, let me have mine, and after I am done, I will back them up with facts. can you?………..” But, I only watch the show on “HotAir”, and if gives MM a headache…

PinkyBigglesworth on April 4, 2007 at 4:22 AM

as of now you have two comedians, as unfunny as they are, who are trained to be quick witted and to make applause lines out of the most inane observations vs. a young game show contestant. Elizabeth is a BC grad, but cummon. She argues like a soccer mom, not a pundit and not a professional debater. (or master debater!)

They wont ever put on a conservative 4th who could challenge the liberal tag team of joy and ro.

coondawg on April 4, 2007 at 6:09 AM

I dunno…..MM on TheView vs Rosie…..that has pay-per-view potential……Gumballs vs Cheeseballs smackdown! I’d subscribe.

Limerick on April 4, 2007 at 6:52 AM

Bad idea! We need Michelle to keep her sanity, and how could anyone do that working with Rosie every day?

What about Ann? Muahaha!!!

MirCat on April 4, 2007 at 2:33 AM

It would be entertaining, but they will never ask Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, or Patricia Heaton because they would so blow away intellectually the liberals on the View. It would be embarrassing for the liberal cause, and the View is out there to influence your average housewife.

januarius on April 4, 2007 at 7:15 AM

Speaking of MM on the View, whatever happened to “The Vent”. We want another Vent!

kmcguire on April 4, 2007 at 7:53 AM

I say Tammy Bruce. Lesbo smackdown!

roninacreage on April 4, 2007 at 8:14 AM

It’s always been 3 libs vs 1 con (just to make it fair) on that show. How ’bout we try this: Elizabeth, Ann, Michelle and Laura vs. Rosie on domestic issues, then Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Nonie Darwish, Wafa Sultan and Bridgette Gabrielle vs. Rosie on war topics. We see how Rosie is when she’s in the majority, let’s see how she acts as a minority when confronted by people who actually know what they’re talkin’ about.

I second Tammy Bruce.
THAT I’d watch.

annoyinglittletwerp on April 4, 2007 at 8:32 AM

Why would anyone want to do that to poor Michelle? She’d have to gouge her own eyes out.

How about they get rid of everyone BUT Rosy the porcine princess? Then she could just sit in front of the camera and babble away, sort of like a monitor in a psych ward?

pistolero on April 4, 2007 at 8:44 AM

monitor in a psych ward

That WaWa’s job now.

Well I could eat Bush’s Bake Beans again. Nah.. bad idea MM would give the place class. Bill O got it right

im4eagles on April 4, 2007 at 8:57 AM

The late Cathy Seipp would have been great. I agree though that Laura Ingraham or Tammy Bruce would be terrific though.
I was waiting for Eilizabeth Hasselbeck to remind Rosie O’Donut that they execute homosexuals in Iran.

Hilts on April 4, 2007 at 9:00 AM

I think Bill O is getting a little too wrapped up with Rosie, just like Keith O is too wrapped up with Bill O.

Rosie’s wrong, an idiot, etc. That being said, she’s on the freakin’ View. Somehow, I think America has figured that out, and is not as swayed by her views as Bill O. might think.

asc85 on April 4, 2007 at 9:03 AM

I vote for LaShawn Barber, not to replace Elizabeth perhaps, but to add her to the View. Or how about Dr Sanity?

CrimsonFisted on April 4, 2007 at 9:04 AM

A job on the View is NOT for nice people.

Ann Coulter vs. Rosie O’Donnell, huh.

Hmmmm. It’s like an everyday, run-o’-the-mill event in the Philippines — but I thought cock-fights were illegal in the U.S.A. Won’t PETA be outraged?

(Okay, so that was rude. I apologize already.)

I think Michelle should replace O’Reilly. Or maybe better, Van Sustern… .

CrimsonFisted on April 4, 2007 at 9:25 AM

The View would never put MM, MKH, Ann, or Laura on their show in a permanent role; all four of the ladies are WAY too intelligent; they’d overshadow the crackpots currently on.

dalewalt on April 4, 2007 at 9:51 AM

Michelle would have Tokyo Rosie for breakfast – metaphorically – while Rosie would be trying to have Michelle for breakfast – literally.

foxforce91 on April 4, 2007 at 10:19 AM

I watched that newscast and it was NEVER implied that they should replace Elizabeth Hasselback. She said that they need ed an “articulate conservative”. They could mean adding another person or getting rid of Joy, etc etc.

msipes on April 4, 2007 at 10:21 AM

Thinking about a debate ‘twixt Rosie and MM… Yeah, it’d be short, alright… but the set would look like the deck of a whaling vessel on a good season afterwards.

Prophet on April 4, 2007 at 10:58 AM

Michelle would be EXCELLENT on The View. It would be lovely to see Rosie’s head explode when faced with someone who has facts and knowledge and can articulate them.

Rightwingsparkle on April 4, 2007 at 11:18 AM

I SECOND that emotion, Ms. Keenan.

seejanemom on April 4, 2007 at 11:27 AM

The view needs a replacement for Rosie, not Elizabeth.

Lawrence on April 4, 2007 at 11:28 AM

My concern is that Rosie would snap and physically try to hurt Michelle because she wouldn’t be able to tell Michelle to shut-up when the argument begins to get away from Rosie, like she does with Elisabeth.

Rick on April 4, 2007 at 11:33 AM

How ’bout Star Parker, Tammy Bruce, Mona Charen and Phylis Schafly vs Rosie?

Tony737 on April 4, 2007 at 11:34 AM

Dennis Miller might be a better candidate for “The View” but they do need someone with a viewpoint from the right who is articulate and has a head on their shoulders. Michelle wouldn’t be a bad choice, actually, though she might not want to devote that much time to it.

All they have now is left and far left. It isn’t balanced and it could use some.

crosspatch on April 4, 2007 at 11:48 AM

Michelle on The View would be a bad idea, for a couple of reasons:

1. I never watch that show, because it’s not shown in a time slot where I could see it even if I wanted to. If Michelle’s on that program, it’d likely reduce if not eliminate her appearance on other programs that I can and do watch. Then I’d have to go attend rehab or something to treat my withdrawal symptoms.

2. Michelle’s talent, intelligence and wit would only be wasted on The View, especially if her reason for being there was to engage in futile attempts to “debate” with Rosie O’Donnell. O’Donnell doesn’t debate, she shouts people down. It’s pointless to try to have any kind of reasonable discussion with such a person; and watching her trying to mau mau Michelle in such a fashion would succeed only in raising my blood pressure.

“Devoid alike of amusement or edification,” as Edward Gibbon would’ve put it.

If she’s going to do an AM talk show, why not put her on Fox & Friends? I could most definitely coax myself out of the sack a little earlier if that were the case, especially if she replaced Steve Doofus or Dufus or whatever his name is.

Spurius Ligustinus on April 4, 2007 at 12:07 PM

As someone who watched when The View first made a big to-do of hiring a young conservative, Elisabeth was one of three inarticulate conservative candidates…one, however, Rachael Campos, was better versed. It was obvious Star Jones (very liberal at the time) and Joy Behar weren’t going to put up with a strong articulate conservative. Lefty’s who hate Elisabeth still want her there as a dupe for Rosie.

deedledee on April 4, 2007 at 12:12 PM

Y’know, FNC has always struggled with its daytime lineup. Wouldn’t it be nice if they started their own answer to The View, populated with Fox ladies from both sides? Kinda like MM’s The Vent. If Michelle were in charge, I’d TiVo that.

aero on April 4, 2007 at 12:17 PM

You’d need two conservatives and keep two of the whacko’s. Ann C. would be a riot as would Tammy Bruce.

Mojave Mark on April 4, 2007 at 12:21 PM

Michelle Malkin, Kirsten Powers, Mary Katherine Ham, Laura Ingraham, and Jane Fleming.

Dang, that gives me the willies just thinking about it!

Wait, not the willies, what’s that other thing, starts with a w?

Merovign on April 4, 2007 at 12:35 PM

If they’re going to be so blatantly political, is balancing it with two moonbats and two conservatives really that crazy of an idea?

People might actually learn something. Have actual information on which to form opinions.

Nevermind. Of course that’s not going to happen. Liberals don’t fare too well in a fair debate, and they know it.

Funny part is that I’ll bet the ratings would go up.

Professor Blather on April 4, 2007 at 12:40 PM

One of the big problems with adding a legitimate, authentic conservative woman with brains, knowledge, experience, and talent, as Michelle Malkin has in spades, to “The View is that “The View” is such a dog and pony show, a carnival geek fest, that it would damage her credibility and lower the authentic conservative woman’s image to even be seen associating with such a faux program.

William2006 on April 4, 2007 at 12:50 PM

since its a liberal station what about Ms. Powers?

Defector01 on April 4, 2007 at 1:13 PM

“is balancing it with two moonbats and two conservatives really that crazy of an idea?”

I notice that outlets with a liberal bent tend to put on “conservatives” who are extreme on some issue or do not come across well on TV or in some other way represent the right as something not to be taken seriously. Heck, I would like to see Fred Thompson more on some of these discussion shows but they would never dare put him on. They will never put anyone on who might actually convince people that there is anything at all to the right of center viewpoint. It’s what they do.

crosspatch on April 4, 2007 at 1:25 PM

If it were a case where you had smart, articulate liberals dominating a talk show, it might make sense to hire one or more smart, articulate conservatives to attempt to balance things out. But I don’t really see how hiring smart, articulate conservatives balances raving lunacy. Raving lunacy has nothing to do with reason in the first place.

I’ve no doubt that someone along the lines of Michael Savage or Ann Coulter would be willing to stand up to a raving lunatic, and it might even make for great TV, but I don’t know if anybody would really learn anything. There’d just be a lot of yelling.

Blacklake on April 4, 2007 at 2:26 PM

I vote Mark Steyn for Greta.

I’ll take 60 minutes of dead air over Greta.

Blacklake on April 4, 2007 at 2:37 PM

Fox’s schedule sucks here. I live on the west coast and all they do is repeat the same shows like three times before they start their late night stuff. Three times of O’Reilly, Gretta, etc. After dinner there is nothing at all to watch on Fox. I would love to see a show not much different in format from The Tonite Show but instead of entertainers, have bloggers, or columnists, or pundits of all sorts on. Fred Thompson would be a good one to host it … sitting behind a desk … with a couch full of interesting people talking about current events.

How about a test pattern?

Carvin Guitar Man on April 4, 2007 at 3:08 PM

I don’t want to see Michelle on the view. Rosie is a bully both verbally and physically. I wouldn’t want Rosie to go postal on Michelle violently after losing an argument – and she’s just the kind that would.

On the other hand can you imagine Rosie’s response to ‘Boo-Freaking-Hoo’?

I would rather see Fox sponser ‘The Vent’ opposite ‘The View’ :)

CrazyFool on April 4, 2007 at 4:21 PM

rosie and her “hippo hurricane holler” would drown out Michelle’s voice but the beauty would outshine her largeness and the others and they would be forced to wear sunglasses, IMHO.

tormod on April 4, 2007 at 5:16 PM

How about a test pattern?

That works.

Blacklake on April 4, 2007 at 6:11 PM

Why can’t Michelle Malkin do both?

I would love to see Michelle lay the intellectual smack down on Rosie.

Why can’t Michelle “guest host” on occasion?

angryamerican on April 4, 2007 at 7:18 PM

Defector01 on April 4, 2007 at 1:13 PM

That’s a great idea!

Kirsten Powers is a Moderate Democrat who she is fair and has intellectual honesty.

The fact that she is a Democrat might be more pallatable to the Liberal Producers of the View.

angryamerican on April 4, 2007 at 7:22 PM

You can have an audience numbers-wise and still have zero credibility. That’s the view. If the stay at homes want dummbed-down political discourse, let them have it. Not everyone can handle the truth. Many will never get it.

IF an articulate conservative was on that show, the idiots who attend it and watch it would be sitting with their mouths open wondering what was just said. They are about as deep as a wading pool! They NEED shrill loud clowns that tickle their ears with psycho-babble that SOUNDS good because of it’s presentation! Lets not confuse the dopes with facts. We wouldn’t want them to hurt themselves.

csdeven on April 5, 2007 at 2:10 AM

Wasn’t it bad enough having Michelle go to Iraq? Keep Michelle safe. Keep her OFF of The View.

IMHO, Rosie seems like she could go postal any day now.

DannoJyd on April 5, 2007 at 5:53 AM

I suppose it was in jest, but I always think it ingracious to downplay the possible advancement of one of your contributors because it would be inconvenient to you personally.

Karl on April 4, 2007 at 3:11 AM

Rosie’s body language is important as well. She is physically aggressive, lots of hand gestures and even grabbing people. She grabs Elisabeth all the time, her hands, her arms. It’s a way of silencing dissent and her very physical presence has it’s effect. At the very least, have Elisabeth sit where Walters usually sits.

RedinBlueCounty on April 7, 2007 at 11:59 AM

It would never happen. The left wing blogsphere would call for a boycott and the democrats in congress would start an investigation into why “homophobic hate mongers” are allowed a voice on national TV. The NWT and WaPo would call for the immediate reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine and mass riots would break out across LA, Chicago, New York, etc.

On the positive note, the mass hysteria that MM’s appearance on The View (From Beyond Reality) would ignite would knock Iraq off of the MSM’s radar for about a week allowing our troops to operate with out our press informing the enemy as to our every troop deployment, maneuver, and strategy. That alone would be worth all the insanity that would erupt amongst the loony left and the damage and chaos that would spread across the blue counties in America and all across Europe.
