Strange that before the election the MSM wouldn’t report anything positive from Iraq but now that the election is said and done and a bunch of cut and run appeasers are in office they suddenly report positive stories.

Not really… this is actually more of a fluke. But ABC has begun to stand out as the most fair of the 3 networks. NBC has veered WAY left to match CBS, and in turn they’ve fallen behind ABC that, while still having a bias, comes off as “fair” by comparison. But again, this is just one story, and I think one could make the case that this is to balance out Rosie O’Donnell at ABC. Really though, I just don’t think it has anything to do with the elections, just a fluke situation.

Whether they are based in Baghdad or in Washington, journalists are obliged to report the news on the ground, not as “good” or “bad” but as news, regardless of how it fits with the vision the administration would like Americans to see.

What about the “vision” of the ideology of the News Organization, the reporter, and the political agenda they are trying to push?

No wonder people are turning to ABC.

You can’t, on the one hand, claim that they never cover good news, then level paranoid accusations about them when they do.

Just be grateful they’re actually telling the story.

You are right and I am glad they are reporting it, but I wonder why they couldn’t this before the surge. You know the surge that is working. The surge that if it succeeds will be bad news for liberals everywhere. The surge that cannot succeed. There is a part of me that is glad this is being shown even though we had to wait until it was within walking distance of the reporters bunkers in the Green Zone.
I am now so skeptical of the press’ motivations nowadays that yes I do believe they want the terrorists to rain on the parade. If the terrorists feel they no longer control the news cycle they will do something to get the propaganda message back on track and toeing the line they have outlined.

Course it is amusing to notice all the playground equipment being happily used that is no longer available in the US thanks to over litigation of children’s playtime.
I was a playground safety inspector for a couple years. You don’t know just how right you area.

Hehe. Went to a Lebanese-owned restuarant and playground. In half an hour, one of our kids had sustained a swiping cut across the face by the corner of the wood swing, and the other kid almost had his teeth knocked out by another swing. One fell off the merry-go round (painted welded rebar seats at waist height) and nearly had the back of his head clipped in by the next seat as he raised his head to reorient himself. Lebanese parents were blissfully unconcerned by the slice and dice equipment they’ll sent their children out to. Fatalistically unperturbed. Retreated to the abundant Lebanese food, which made up for the playground menace.

They show this, the insurgents stage an attack on this area and he will be right back to paint the gloom and doom story. The insurgents know this, the press know this, and the people rooting for our failure in Iraq know this.

I will let you know about 10 AM EST Friday. You do know that the bad guys plan the bombs to explode in time to be covered by our press and reported on ad naseum all day. You don’t hear of too many explosions occurring at 2 in the afternoon do you? Our press are the jihadis biggest tools.

Security ops in Baghdad have chased some of the scum into other provinces, with the result an increase in violence last month outside the capital and a drop in violent deaths inside — sharply enough that they’re down across Iraq as a whole (but notably not for Iraqi policemen).

Two hopeful things to take from that. One, they’ve lost the initiative, and they have to attack on the run. Two, the locals in these places that haven’t been dealing with this probably aren’t very happy about their new visitors, and they know who they are. None of this bodes well for the jihad.
