Rosie: Your contempt for my 9/11 revisionism suggests democracy is dead

Her logic works just as well with Holocaust denial. Try it!

258,000+ votes cast in the AOL poll. As of this writing, 62% say Rosie must go.

Update: I guess we were overdue for this.

Sheeesh … will wonders never cease. All Rosie wrote was a rather obvious and transparent rationalization for her psychosis.

darwin on April 2, 2007 at 12:35 PM

“I am, therefore, pledging my allegiance, hand over heart, trying, as always, for a rigorous truth.”

Providing, of course, that that “truth” is a larger truth, and one that doesn’t have to be justified with pesky little things like “facts” or “accurate data” or “sanity.”

Bob Owens on April 2, 2007 at 12:36 PM

Why doesn’t she just do what Andrew Sullivan does and call it “airing a theory?”

Seems to work for him.

She’s a conservative train wreck
No one likes or pays attention to her seriously, not even most female view listeners. All she has become is something for us conservatives to stare and point at.

Defector01 on April 2, 2007 at 12:37 PM

If the cost of air ever goes up, I will try to acquire drilling rights to that gigantic melon on her shoulders.

E5infantry on April 2, 2007 at 12:41 PM

I have come to no conclusions

Except that Boooooosh must have had something to do with 9/11 and for the first time in history, fire melted steel……

Mallard T. Drake on April 2, 2007 at 12:43 PM

And, of course, comments to ask questions of her are “closed”.

As Stan said in South Park after his son broke the dam but which his dad interpreted as a sign of an imminent global warming catastrophe: “We must have the courage to ask… QUESTIONS!”

Skywise on April 2, 2007 at 12:43 PM

I have come to no conclusions and, given the scope of the subject, will not for some time.

However, this ignorance will not preclude me from spouting unfounded conspiracy theories at will over network television.

saint kansas on April 2, 2007 at 12:44 PM

Q:Does rosie run the show and baba wawa?

A:Who cares, they’re both liberal nutjobs.

tormod on April 2, 2007 at 12:45 PM

Her truth is truth…that is what she thinks.

What was that quote: You can have your own opinion, but not your own set of facts?

right2bright on April 2, 2007 at 12:46 PM

rosie has become the lead moo in the cattle drive to the stupid house.

allie on April 2, 2007 at 12:47 PM

Once again, another liberal claiming that democracy is dead because of the backlash to her comments. Rosie, moron, democracy means you can speak out all you want, but it also means everybody else has a right to criticize your comments. Keep exercising your big mouth, because it shows the rest of America what liberalism really is.

And yes, I think that when people like Rosie speak-out like this, it is a big deal (despite what Alan Colmes says) because it is representative of Hollywood - which happens to be a very influential segment of the Democrat party (in many ways).

Rick on April 2, 2007 at 12:48 PM

Well I eagerly await her concise, scientific conclusions regarding what caused the flooding in NO.
I tend to fall into the amount of rain caused by that big honking storm that came through there camp, but I could be wrong.

robblefarian on April 2, 2007 at 12:57 PM

When I saw the flag on her site, I was so disgusted…

Just because you have the right of free speech, doesn’t mean you have the obligation to spout stupidity.

Romeo13 on April 2, 2007 at 12:58 PM

From Rosie’s blog there is this:

I have come to no conclusions and, given the scope of the subject, will not for some time.

And then if you look just to the right there are links to a whole set of 9/11 conspiracy sites. I don’t see the one for Popular Mechanic there. Maybe somebody can send it to her?

Oh yeah and don’t forget the obligatory Cost of the War in Iraq counter. They are doing this to distract from their little 20 Billion dollars of pork they put into the surrender terms bill.

LakeRuins on April 2, 2007 at 12:58 PM

I have no problem with asking questions and investigating. The problem is when you’re only capable of hearing what you want to hear. Only believe evidence and argument, regardless of credibility, that supports what you’ve already concluded.

Its not about democracy, its about intellectual honesty -with yourself and others.

taznar on April 2, 2007 at 12:59 PM

The First Amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech of Rosie exclusively, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Finally, someone in pop culture has the courage not only to ask questions, but also to ignore answers.

wilkeson on April 2, 2007 at 1:05 PM

I am, therefore, pledging my allegiance, hand over heart, trying, as always, for a rigorous truth.

Who is she pledging her allegiance too? Herself? Because it certainly doesn’t appear to be the USA!

I googled “pledge of allegiance” and found this from the “American Legion”: The pledge says you are promising to be true to the United States of America!

Maybe Alan Dershovitz should go on The View and give Rosie & Co, ABC and the fans a lesson on the First Amendment. Rosie is free to say whatever she wants and the government will never stop her and can’t stop her. But ABC is a business and therefore should fire her.

hotdax on April 2, 2007 at 1:06 PM

In light of this reminder, I have begun doing exactly what this country, at its best, allows for me to do: inquire. Investigate.

i.e., “Google it.”

saint kansas on April 2, 2007 at 1:08 PM

As long as Rosie is inquiring, she might ask an engineer how steel is made and shaped. Steel I-beams don’t grow up like cornstalks. They don’t grow in trees and you can’t find them in any mine. Where do they come from? How are they made?

She also would do well to ask about the fuel tanks that were in WTC7.

Inquiring means asking questions, right? So ask away, Rosie.

Steel I-beams don’t grow up like cornstalks.

Bryan, are you sure on this one?

Heh. I have an image in my head, driving through Southeast Pennsylvania and seeing rusty fields of steel as far as the eye can see, like Nebraska in hell. Though some would say Nebraska is hell, but I’m not, because everyone knows hell is in Philly.

Bad Candy on April 2, 2007 at 1:29 PM

If the very act of asking is so destabilizing for people, than I have to wonder whether the fabric of our democracy is indeed so raveled it is beyond salvage. My own belief is that the act of asking is itself reparative, because it brings to life the values on which our constitution rests. I am, therefore, pledging my allegiance, hand over heart, trying, as always, for a rigorous truth.

if she were asking it would be different… but she is not asking, she is stating it as some kind of proven fact…

lorien1973 on April 2, 2007 at 1:57 PM

Perhaps instead of asking the sponsors to stop sponsoring the show, we could ask the sponsors to pressure the network to bring the Popular Mechanics experts on the show to ‘debate’ Rosie on her trutherism.

The benefits of this are multiple:
1) We can’t be accused of censorship because we aren’t trying to get the show canceled.
2) Sponsors are more likely to respond positively to a positive action (Please use your influence to help open the debate) as opposed to a threat (Stop advertising on The View or else).
3) The people that watch The View would be exposed to the Popular Mechanics’ (and other scientists’) debunking of trutherism.
4) Rosie would look like a big fat idiot (more so than usual).

I am, therefore, pledging my allegiance, hand over heart, trying, as always, for a rigorous truth.

I wonder if her search for the “rigorous truth” will have her looking into the Sandy “Burglar” Berger caper?

David Asman’s special on Sunday was gut wrenching. I knew most of the facts anyway, but seeing it chronicled with the time line and eye witness accounts and comments was beyond disturbing. So much so, that I immediately emailed the Justice Dept. and told them how criminal and negligent they have behaved. If this is not a huge campaign issue ofr the Repubs and/or Sandy-Pants gets his security clearance back next year I think there should be NO DOUBT in any of our minds that both Parties are in fact the same Party, and that they pick and choose their battles for the good of “The Party”, NOT the good of the People.

Dash on April 2, 2007 at 2:07 PM

Who are you, and how did you get in here?

James on April 2, 2007 at 2:08 PM

I have, of late, begun exercising the rights bestowed upon me by the democratic system I value,

Rosie, you have no clue. Your rights are not given to you by a democratic system. In fact, a true democratic system doesn’t respect your rights at all. Your life, liberty, and property are up for grabs, to be disposed of at the whim of whoever gets a plurality in an election. (Democracy is three wolves and two sheep voting on what’s for dinner.)

At the risk of invoking Godwin’s Law, let me point out that not only was Hitler elected, but the institution of slavery in the antebellum south was sanctified by elections, as was Jim Crow for a century after the war.

Rights are moral principles that exist whether you recognize them or not. They are inherent in the nature of H. sapiens. Those societies that organize themselves in accordance with those principles will thrive and flourish, while those who do not will stagnate and decay. The reason why the North beat the South, and the Allies beat the Axis, is that slavery and totalitarian dictatorship are less productive than societies that recognize the rights of more of their people. The reason that the Wall came down and the East joined the West (rather than the other way around) is that freedom is superior to central control.

If you really are interested in an honest inquiry into 9/11, invite the Popular Mechanics guys on The View.

The bigger issue here is how the MSM has infiltrated the media and it is using the media to brainwash Americans. From the nightly news to late night talk to many other forms of entertainment, there is a constant barrage of anti Americans propaganda being broadcast 27/7.

Rosie O’Donnell is just but one example how the media has become the Tokyo Rose of the liberal movement. She has been given the platform to express her views when conservatives are not given the same opportunity.

Late night talk shows are all hosted by liberals.

The 3 major new networks are manned by liberals.

2 out of 3 of the cable news outlets are liberal.

HBO and Showtime constantly air programs that are liberal .Like Al Gores Inconvenient Truth propaganda documentary or Bill Maher’s cable show disguised as a comedy show.

When conservatives complain, the media complain peoples constitutional rights are being violated or just change the channel if you do not like the opinions being expressed.

Other than FoxNews, where are conservatives given the platform to express their views in the media?

Just look how the War in Iraq has changed from being supported by the American public by the constant attack by the media for the last 5 years with the mantra no WMD’s repeated so often that people have been convinced there were none.

There is an old saying that if you repeat a lie often enough people will believe it.

IMHO-We are in danger of losing our Republic. The liberals have taken over the media which like it or not has a big influence on public perceptions and influences our elections.

Rosie has every right to her opinions but where are the views supported by conservatives being aired? When the ratio is 98 to 1 that is propaganda not free speech.

I have to admit, this made me laugh the most. What is she pledging allegiance too? Reminds me of an old movie. A Fish called Wanda. Otto the hitman is arguing with Jamie Lee Curtis (Wanda). She calls him a stupid ape. ‘Apes don’t read philosophy’, he responds. ‘Yes, they do, Otto. They just don’t understand it.’ That’s pretty much the case with liberals ‘pledging allegiance’ to something, and talking about their patriotism. It sounds good to say it, but they don’t have a f**king clue what it means.

I’m so sick of loudmouths whining about how their speech is being infringed upon.

Here’s the real problem, can ABC not find one loud enough and informed enough person to go on and put her in their place? No, just Hasselbeck, who I have no problem with, but she just sits there and gets screamed at and has nothing to say. Does everyone remember the time Rosie shouted her down telling her she can’t just sit there and give her opinion… Rosie spends the show spouting off extreme leftist and conspiracy theory crap, but shouts down Hasselbeck for offering an opinion, telling her that’s not okay. Someone needs to get on there and truly do battle with this heffer, I’m sick of this sh**. Know this though, she just sent an army of pathetically bored housewives out to “investigate” and make no mistake, probably created thousands of more Truthers.
