Is Stakelbeck suggesting that the United States isn’t doing anything in Iran because of Hezbollah (sp?) cells in the United States? That these cells are having a significant impact on our Iranian policy?

If so, I disagree with that. I may not agree 100% with our handling of Iran, but we’ll do what we have to do there. And we’ll round these people up and throw them into Guantanomo if we have to, just like we did after 9/11.

asc85 on April 2, 2007 at 9:54 AM

Two differences they’ll find when they make their strike(s) here in the US.

1) We have a pretty large armed populace who will not be happy with them.

2) America - and Americans - tend to be nice on purpose, not because we can’t be otherwise.

Go about your business. Go shopping. Islam is a religion of peace.

Think that’ll work next time?

pistolero on April 2, 2007 at 10:31 AM

KCSteve, I hope you’re right, but my fear is that with the ongoing emasculation of the US by the left, any strikes made here will result in:

* an apology by the left for all the evil we’ve done in the world.
* understanding that it’s our fault that the ‘freedom fighters’ were forced into their strike.
* calls for moderation and understanding.

Great Vent Erick!

I believe that the Hezbollah threat to the United States is more sensational and geared to public opinion and the media than substantial. Their greatest ally is our own biggest weakness: The Left and their notions of multi-culturalism, tolerance of hostile foreign powers, and lack of will to confront agression. The Left is more interested in their political agenda than the interests of the United States and it’s citizens, and has become a willing, enthusastic ally of the enemies of the United States.

I believe the only reason that Hezbolah’s supporters in the United States do not engage in more substantial criminal acitivity in the United States is because our first line of defense, our law enforcement system, is an agressive and well developed machine. It would, however, be in the best interests of the United States for law enforcement to place a higher priority on economic crimes that benefit foreign enemies of the United States.

I look forward to the coming politcial change in the United States that will more agrressively confront enemies such as Iran and domestic support for those enemies. Unfortunately this support will come only after major disaster, perhaps two. I believe that the price will be worth the result however, only after political change will we have politcial support for the aggressive confrontation to hostile powers that is required to avoid even greater disaster.

Mahmoud as a gay pirate. That’s, uh, different. In all seriousness though, we absolutely DO NOT need a war with Iran. Not unless we’re looking to start Iraq II, only much worse. I just hope we can make it all the way to January 2009 without getting in deeper.I hate to say it, but I don’t think this president has any idea how bad things really are and how much worse they could still get if we do something stupid. If Bush hasn’t learned anything from the Iraq situation (and it doesn’t appear that he has) than he’s hopeless. I have no confidence whatsoever in this administration’s ability to wage a successful military campaign of any kind. Invading Iran would be standing on the railroad tracks with a stick hoping to skewer a freight train.

The words “Islamic” and “wisdom” in the same sentence? That’s chutzpah.

Of course not, John. All that was taken care of decisively in the 1979 war with Iran. Whoops! That didn’t happen? Never mind.

John on April 2, 2007 at 12:01 PM

Sigh… we don’t need to INVADE Iran. We have the military air power to punish them, and thats what we should do. Their economy is very fragile, and is dependent on oil exports. We need to bite the bullet, and take out their ONE gasoline refinery, all the oil feilds, their electical generation plants, and their major bridges…

Basicaly knock them back to the 14th century and keep them there until they surrender due to internal dissension.

No need to invade at all.

Romeo13 on April 2, 2007 at 12:48 PM

For anyone paying attention in the past forty years, several things would be clear:

1.Tinfoil hatted Leftist Loons took over from bottom up
all across the country in every level of government
from education to the Presidency…ALL LEVELS!!

2.Tinfoil hatted Leftist Loons got stopped a little
when Reagan took office..lost it with Bush, i.e., the
BDS took over their minds.

3.Tinfoil hatted Leftist Loons cannot see or hear
or learn anything EXCEPT their own ideology. They
do not believe anything done, written or spoken
except for their own voices in their minds.

4.When the streets are flooded with blood ala Katrina
and the sea of bobbing heads float along, they then
will truly be unable to hear or see anything because
their heads will also be bobbing next to mine.

Unless there is a miracle, the Tinfoil Hatted Leftist Loons agenda is in like Flynn for years to come until the Islamofascists begin their beheading programs around the world.

sharinlite on April 2, 2007 at 12:49 PM

Romeo 13,

Yes, their economy may be fragile. But disrupting that much of the world’s oil supply would have a devastating ripple affect throughout the world as well. Even if we are not buying oil from Iran, the Chinese, Europeans and others are. If that dried up, those countries are going to need to get oil from somewhere, putting an even greater strain on the global energy supply. Plus, if you think they hate us now, bombing them back to the 14th century is only going to breed more anti-American sentiment then ever.

Once we “liberate” them from running water and electricity, it’s really going to hit the fan.

Time to watch the video of “Open Season” again.

infidel4life on April 2, 2007 at 1:14 PM

John,

Yes, world oil prices would take a major hit… and Saudi Arabia has already stated they would not raise output to cut prices… HOWEVER, IMO we are at a crossroads.

Right now the world economy is fairly strong, and Irans economy if vulnerable. Give Iran a few years, and more oil income, and the situation for Iran, and its government could be a LOT more stable.

Its a question of do you strike now, or do you have to deal with an even larger problem later?

Bad Candy on April 2, 2007 at 3:47 PM

I think I may have to revise my standing prediction. I’ve maintained that Hillary Clinton will meet with the terror lords in burqa in order to make peace (give up). I think the more likely scenario is Tony Blair will meet with our future Islamic Overlords in a burqa. What a wanker. You know, if I was Mahmoud the Pirate Queen, I’d start asking for absurdities. Make Blair put on a mumu and sing the theme from Gilligans Island during American Idol, and I’ll think about freeing one hostage.

As far as not striking Iran because of future economic impacts, we tried that out back in 1991 with Iraq. The ‘let them do whatever they want so we have cheap oil’ strategy sucks ass. They’re pimp slapping a major power and getting away with it. If this continues, they will only get more brazen. Remember OBL and the the terror attacks in the 90’s? He took our lack of response as weakness and he turned up the heat. If Tony Blair keeps acting like a Bill Clinton intern, he’s opening the door for a lot of Iranian trouble.

Indeed. It was obscure and grotesque.

I concede the match.

P.S. Ahmadinejad photoshopping contest anyone? hehe

MirCat on April 2, 2007 at 4:56 PM

Stak is really growing on me. Not so easy on the eyes as Michelle, KP or MKH but he really brings the content.

If there’s a Photoshop contest, I’m in. What’s the deadline for submission, MirCat?

I won’t be in charge of it :) Just floating the idea.

In all seriousness though, we absolutely DO NOT need a war with Iran. Not unless we’re looking to start Iraq II, only much worse.

Do you think any military action in the Middle East should be avoided and change can be accomplished through peaceful diplomacy? That’s no a realistic ideal.

Most Middle East governments use force and/or terror to project control over their populations. History has shown time and time again that diplomatic solutions do not work on governments like in Iran. Only an armed force can displace a militaristic or terroristic totalitarian type government. Dialog and international diplomacy does not work. Think WWI and WWII, Germany (and Japan in WWII) was defeated by the use of deadly force, not international diplomacy.

We tried diplomatic solution in Iraq for decades, long before the first Gulf War, yet all that dialog failed and Saddam and his government remained until America, along with a coalition of 30 countries, invaded and took that government out through the use of force. Now there are several factions, some assisted by Iran and other Middle East countries, that are using a militaristic and terroristic methods in an attempt to gain control of Iraq and the US military is forced, once again, to use deadly force to stop them.

It’s clear that the only way to stop dictators and terrorists is by the use of force. Is that really so hard to understand?

RedinBlueCounty on April 2, 2007 at 7:35 PM

Blair won’t commit military action because plenty of The Hezz and their radical supporters call East London home. Blair calls in airstrikes + SAS team for hostage rescue = suicide bombs in every major subway/bus stop in London AND poor Tony and his wife will be called “racists” by the peace-loving elitists that run the EU.

We can’t have that, can we?

Imagine a low-yield nuke fried San Diego tomorrow and The Hezz took credit for it in an Internet video (Featured on YouTube!)

Would Dubya call for the round up every “known Hezz sympathizer” in the USA be they American citizens or not? Would he immediately authorize airstrikes on every known Hezz compound around the world?

No, of course not. He knows CAIR will sue (and maybe LULAC too), American Muslims will violently riot from Dearborn to Dallas, and every progressive-minded key influencer in the media (Rosie, Colbert, etc.) will scream “See I told you!” because of the fascist destruction of American civil liberties.

Well, we can’t have that, can we?

Lose-lose.

Short of Fred! sworn in as POTUS and Chuck Norris as VP in January 2009, we can’t win.

ScottMcC on April 2, 2007 at 8:06 PM

Great Vent, great pirate picture.

Well, first you need a ship
And then you need a crew
And only a leaky, creaky ship
And a nasty crew will do!

Entelechy on April 3, 2007 at 12:28 AM

Great Vent, but as gay as that pirate looks, does anyone else wince at “Stak Attack?”

It sounds to me more like a special at IHOP, or maybe some sort of bath house maneuver.
