Yep, he announced this morning, and NO ONE except my local Denver News had ANYTHING about it.
Yahoo? no
Fox? nope…
ABC?… nah…
CBS?… uh uh…
CNN?… no…
Need I continue… the silence on his announcement is deafening…

Fred! in 2008.
annoyinglittletwerp on April 2, 2007 at 6:41 PM
Yep, all hat and no cattle one trick pony!
Grouper on April 2, 2007 at 6:41 PM
I’ll have to see what Fred Thompson thinks about this before I comment.
frankj on April 2, 2007 at 6:42 PM
Where’s the “came a man” tagline? I feel let down. First no schwarzenegger clip this weekend, now this :(
lorien1973 on April 2, 2007 at 6:47 PM
But you gotta admit it’s a pretty big issue. He can’t run on it, but I’m glad he’s pushing it.
Connie on April 2, 2007 at 6:59 PM
Go Tom … I don’t think he stands a chance, but he’s important because he’ll bring illegal immigration and our border security into the debate.

Modern day media are truly afraid of common sense. They think it has been banished from society in favor of PC crapola which is destroying the country (with their help.) Most reasonable people take every media story with a grain of salt.Their game of disinformation and ommission is hoping to keep Tancredo and other reasonable candidates out of the race. Well,Tom Tancredo said today that even though he has only raised a million dollars so far , that money is truly from grass roots VOTERS who each sent in about $59 each. What would you rather have…one Dave Geffen give you one million or a million Americans together give you one million. I know whose side I am on…(and I contributed to that one million.) GO GET EM TOM!!!
Mellen on April 2, 2007 at 7:35 PM
In deference to his running for President of The USA I think Allah should put a proper picture when discussing Tom Tancredo. Respect for the office and all that………Allah???
Mellen on April 2, 2007 at 7:41 PM
And now, comes a man…that I won’t be voting for.
CP on April 2, 2007 at 7:42 PM
Ian made this post. No allah bashing this time :P
Why respect NAU Tom? He has an issue, which is one we all appreciate, but is he a serious candidate otherwise? No.
lorien1973 on April 2, 2007 at 7:59 PM
Being from Colorado, Tancredo has visibility here.
Anyone living in the Southwest, in agricultural areas, or places with large construction projects knows that this problem is not a “fringe” issue.
He probably won’t even place in the top five–but the issue is important.
elpresidente on April 2, 2007 at 8:09 PM
One-trick pony.
spmat on April 2, 2007 at 8:24 PM
this is good news for whoever the real gop candidate ends up to be because tancredo will serve as a lightening rod to draw all of the john-birchers, stormfront trolls and lunatic rage-o-holics from the actual race.
jummy on April 2, 2007 at 8:35 PM
in fact, we need a novelty candidate who will capture the mythology-addled minds of the “creationism is proven in the way you never find frogs spontaneously emrtge from peanut butter jars” parasites who are sapping the center-right of it’s strength.
jummy on April 2, 2007 at 8:44 PM
I’d vote for Tancredo on his one trick pony over Giuliani or McCain any day of the week. It so happens that the one trick his pony knows is one I like.

If Fred Thompson doesn’t say the right things, it’s Tancredo for me. At least he has the courage to stand up for the issue that is a major sore point for most Americans unlike the majority of Republicans and certainly the president.
Margaret McC on April 2, 2007 at 9:09 PM
That’s actually absolutely false. Anyone who actually does more than read Allah Pundit or LaRaza News would know that. And yes, I know Ian wrote this post.
It’s not like it’s tough to find his stance on ALL of the issues. You can find them here. If ANYONE were to actually ASK him … we wouldn’t have so much ignorance within our own party.
Gregor on April 2, 2007 at 9:13 PM
While it’s true that he’s conservative on a variety of issues, it’s fair to say his drum is immigration, and he’s already banging it pretty hard and regularly.
I’m still leaning toward Rudy, of the candidates now running.
But that could all change…
Slublog on April 2, 2007 at 9:21 PM
He’s conservative on EVERY issue, and he’s every bit as tough on Iraq and the “War on Terror” as Giuliani, which is pretty much the ONLY reason given by those who claim to support Giuliani.
Giuliani has absolutely zero on Tancredo, and Giuliani’s stances are disgraceful on all other issues conservatives are supposed to care about.
Thank God for Fred Thompson. Due to those who have fallen for Giuliani’s con game, I was beginning to think it was a lost cause.
Gregor on April 2, 2007 at 9:53 PM
Actually, what you call “Giuliani’s call game,” I call his appeal to moderate Republicans.
But Fred could change all of this – he’s moderate enough for me to support.
Slublog on April 2, 2007 at 9:58 PM
Another canidate bringing to the debate the need to secure our border, I will welcome him.
I am sure there will be a Cabinet position in President Fred Thompson’s Administration……..
PinkyBigglesworth on April 2, 2007 at 10:44 PM
That’s one more issue than Fred has.
I’ve been impressed with Tancredo’s willingness to speak out forcefully in support of Taiwan and in opposition to the ACLU. And let’s not forget, he owns the nuke Mecca issue.
Seriously though, it would be a good deterent to have a president in the White House that enemies would have no doubt in their mind would nuke them off the face of the earth if they brought mass death to the US.
Perchant on April 2, 2007 at 10:57 PM
Kind of like Hitler and the Jews. Ah yes the Republican party of inclusiveness and reason. If they are Arab nuke em.. if they are hispanic shoot em…if they are yellow cage em up
Who would Tancredo appoint as Secretary of State? David Duke ? His “Nuke mecca” idea is one the most irresponsible ideas I have ever heard. To do that would almost guarantee one of the “Christian” extremists convinced all Islamics are not worthy of living would detonate the nuke in the US just to get someone like Tancredo to do the deed you so desperately desire.Remember a fellow named McVeigh?
Bradky on April 2, 2007 at 11:51 PM
I guess you’re right in that Hitler would have been deterred if a nuclear Israel had been around at the time.
Perchant on April 3, 2007 at 12:02 AM
Bradky. A man with fruit loops for brains. There wasn’t a single thing in your comment that was based on reality. Congrats.
Gregor on April 3, 2007 at 12:05 AM
Hmmm… and Guliani’s issue is??? I was a mayor in a city that lost a lot of people? but I’m really a RINO…. and have flipped on issues???
And McCain’s issue is??? I was a POW who used my father’s position to get better treatement? That I helped destroy Freedom of Speech??? That I’ve flipped on issues?
Can’t say as I’ve ever heard of Tanc flippin… and he is definatly not a RINO.
Romeo13 on April 3, 2007 at 12:29 AM
Romeo13,
For real. If they want to say Tancredo is a “one issue candidate”, start telling us what the other candidates are.
Is Mitt Romney a “7 issue candidate”? And what would those issues be?
Perchant on April 3, 2007 at 12:55 AM
Fred has a conservative mind set. So one each issue, he will face it with that coloring. From what I’ve seen so far. But I am liking Tancredo out of the others that have announced.

Tancredo has some good things to say here about the need for America to be a melting pot and about the danger of making diversity into a quasi-religious goal, but he betrays himself when he makes it clear that he only wants a melting pot that produces white English-speakers.
He also rather disingenuously refers to his issue as being that of illegal immigration when he clearly is opposed to much legal immigration as well. His problem isn’t the legality of the immigrants, it’s the immigrants.
Mark Jaquith on April 3, 2007 at 5:05 AM
Once again, we have someone who needs to create fantasy in order to make a point. Tancredo has never suggested anything of the sort.
Gregor on April 3, 2007 at 9:50 AM
The media is spinning who they want to be in office…….so those of you who prefer The New York Times,CBS.NBC,FOX et al choose your president for you, then keep bashing true Patriots like Tancredo who at least is entering the race for a cause and not to salve his own inflated ego. Amazing how some of you are aware of how the media tries to do your thinking for you on some things and are totally clueless when it comes to how they are trying to shape the Presidential race.
On another note, those of us truly afraid this coming human tide will be the end of this country as one of Irish heritage I also do not want millions of Irish engulfing the country on my dime…Comprende???
Mellen on April 3, 2007 at 10:01 AM
Tancredo can’t carry Florida after idiotically calling Miami a third world country. Hell, I don’t think he can carry Colorado.
Karol on April 3, 2007 at 10:48 AM
As a Floridian (native born), I disagree. Tancredo has as much a chance as any of the rest in carrying this state. What will determine votes from Miami will be his position on illegals/refugees from Cuba vs. those from say Haiti or Mexico.
raz0r on April 3, 2007 at 1:37 PM
Those people in Miami couldn’t understand English so his comments can’t hurt him……LOL
