So which party will wear the moniker "Confederacy" when the country finally wises up and decides to split itself in two?

Please note the opinion on page 12 referencing a trip to Cuba by Senators McGovern and Sparkman
...which referred to them interceding on behalf of Tiant, which the second paragraph of 18 USC 953 says is OK. If a US citizen has a personal beef with a foreign government, they're allowed to use that government's process for resolving it.

In this case, there is no such safe harbor for the junketeers. They aren't trying to persuade Syria to be nice to a US citizen. If this isn't a violation of 18 USC 953, what the hell is?

Yeah, you're probably right. Pelosi thinks the 2006 election has given her carte blanche to do as she pleases. I hope the shark bites her in the a$$ as she tries to jump it.

any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States,

Hmmm... seems a common reading of this means that if Pelosi goes over to influence THEM without permision, then its covered under the Logan act. Its not just about cutting deals, it specificaly says INFLUENCE, even attempted influence.

For those citing the Logan act, here's an interesting document from the Congressional Research Center:

Conducting Foreign Relations Without Authority: The Logan Act

Please note the opinion on page 12 referencing a trip to Cuba by Senators McGovern and Sparkman.

Of course, I'm not a lawyer, but it appears to me that no matter how repugnant Pelosi's trip may be, the Logan act may not apply unless she makes deals with Assad that haven't been blessed by the State Dept.

Not defending what she's doing - I think it's wrong for her to go as it undermines the Executive Branch's constitutional responsibilities. Just saying that Logan may not apply.

So, why don't we arrest and charge these democrat traitors with treason and run them through the Nation's court system? Let a jury of their peers decide what ought be done with these traitors. It's more than obvious to any real American when they openly practice sedition, but naturally, the GOP sits back and lets them get away with it, thus empowering them to become more and more bold in their idiocy.

I never understood Congressional junkets or "fact finding missions" in foreign countries. No member of congress was appointed as an ambassador and they should not act as if being elected to serve a federal district or a sate gives them the ultimate authority which surpasses even that of the president. Member's of congress were not elected as foreign ambassador or as the president and should not be traveling to other countries in an attempt to dictate foreign policy.

The members of congress needs to remember that we elect members of the House to represent each federal district and we elect members of the Senate to represent each state. We do not elect them to represent the country as a whole as we elect a President for that. These people need to get back to their jobs in congress representing their appropriate districts and states and let the President represent the country, that's why we elected him. If they want to represent the country then they should run for President.

If, and I say -if- she was given authority to proceed with her proposal during the briefing by the Department of State, it is not likely there is a valid argument for punitive action.

Is there a federal prosecutor with the Malkins to take Blinky's acceptance of Assad's invitation as reason to take this to a Grand Jury?

Iran has no interest in being attacked, they just want to force the price of oil up.

There economy is crappy... without at least $65 a barrel they cannot sustain minimum standards.

They have calculated that America (with our Defeatocrats) and Britain (Blair has a scandal and is on his way out) will NOT attack. Russia has been bought and paid for... France will surrender as usual... China is sitting this one out (and needs the oil).

They have calculated that they can play this long enough to help their economy....

BUT, I did see an encouraging sight... went to Moab in Utah last weekend, and the I-70 corridor through Colorado's mountains are CROWDED with new drilling rigs... rigs that have not been there before....

Another reason to purchase property in Costa Rica.

So what if Iran's wacky mullahs decideds that 15 British sailors are not a strong enough bargining chip to entice a US/ British first strike that they are so eanestly begging for? Let say they grab Pelosi, and hold her hostage for US withdrawl. Too far fetched? It would roil both branches of our govt at a low cost to Iran. I have absolutly NO DOUBT Assad's invitation was instigateded by Iran, and was the result of serious multi dimensional game play, based on Bush's psych profile response and that of the American MSM.

Iran wants to be hit, Iran wants to muck with American, especailly psych- ops aimed at the anti-war Democrats in Congress. This is their golden oppertunity to bring the 12th Imam. April could be come too interesting for many American's.

Pelosi Shuns the British, Prepares Syria Trip...

This is the middle finger on both hands high in the air as far as I'm concerned. First:Members of the House left Washington on Friday for their two-week spring break without weighing in on the international crisis tormenting the nation's...
