Video: Rosie melts down on “The View”

I’m not exaggerating when I say that this is the video against which all future Rosie clips will be compared. Never has so much useful idiocy about so many subjects been compressed into so little time.
It’s her finest hour.
To the best of my knowledge this is the first time she’s used the show to advance Trutherism, which would seem to present a bit of a quandary for the resident “serious journalist.” Will she continue to lend her prestige to too-nutty-for-the-nutroots anti-Americanism? Or is it time to cut Big Mama loose and preserve whatever shred of credibility the show still has left?
Update: Treacher channels the Bard of Melting Skyscrapers.

I think Hasselback came off really well, frankly. She’s in a hostile environment, outnumbered, and with an audience squarely in corner of people like Rosie and Behar, who believe that knowing a few key buzzwords makes them sound more informed than you. It’s narcissism and emotionalism, digitally gilded.
Hasselback’s personality is such that she isn’t loudly confrontational. But the look on her face when she has to listen to the political rants from panel of insane meatsacks suggests she keeps expecting Ashton Kutcher to jump out from behind a speaker — or at the very least, a plague of toads to infest the set.
Jeff G on March 29, 2007 at 6:29 PM
Debbie Schlussel- you might want to keep in mind that Elizabeth wasn’t hired to be a political pundit, let alone Rosies’ sparring partner.
Pam on March 29, 2007 at 6:30 PM
Dammit..
Yeah, mangled that. Supposed to be -who can-, and I’da changed the next sentence. PIMF.
Bad Candy on March 29, 2007 at 6:31 PM
Debbie, who would be on your preferred list to be the conservative on the [Dismal] View? Aside from you, Mary Matalin is the only one I can think of presently.
DannoJyd on March 29, 2007 at 6:31 PM
Bad Candy, that got a chuckle out of me when she did it!
Pam on March 29, 2007 at 6:32 PM
“Peace out???” shouldn’t that be PIG OUT!!!
Mellen on March 29, 2007 at 6:36 PM
I can’t believe that the housewives and shut-ins of America don’t have better things to do than listen to this disgusting cow belch nonsense for an hour every morning.
packsoldier on March 29, 2007 at 6:36 PM
They would never have Debbie host, never. Too smart, too good looking…they will take dumb and good looking, and they will take smart and ugly. And, obviously, dumb and ugly. But Barbara does not want the competition, and the last thing they want is another conservative with high ratings.
here is a tip Hasslebeck (sp?)for Rosie about the Gulf of Tonkin, a simple “that would never happen, Johnson was a democrat, we have a republican in office now”.
And a simple “I agree with profiteering, that is why it is important to investigate Feinstein, now that she has resigned…she is also a democrat.”
Chick fight…chick fight…

Exactly.
I afraid her insanity is infectious and just hearing her voice spew that garbage may contaminate me and turn me into some sort of zombie.

I was disturbed by the crowd’s reaction and she plays to the crowd. The “get” here it seems. I thought Elisabeth did a great job with the truther bit. Also, it is no accident that Rosie’s e-mail is not on The View’s website. It never has been because I have been checking since she went on there.
Glynn on March 29, 2007 at 6:50 PM
Best. First. Comment. Ever.
See Rosie. See Rosie jump teh shark. Jump Rosie jump.
spmat on March 29, 2007 at 6:51 PM
More like, it would turn into a Springer style fight when Schlussel wouldn’t let Rosie steamroll her after about a week. She wouldn’t be able to take that for more than a week.
I’ve long believed that there will come a point where the public sees what the nutroots and the leftist core really are in a mainstream way, it’ll be an explosive expose, the kinda thing that will shock the whole country in a deep way.
Bad Candy on March 29, 2007 at 6:58 PM
I really feel bad for Elizabeth. How do you deal with that? I mean you have a loud obnoxious woman yelling about one conspiracy after another. There is no debate, the other 3 can’t even get a word in.
I agree the audience applause is more disturbing then anything Rosie says
Resolute on March 29, 2007 at 6:59 PM
ARRRRRRGH, DAMMIT! My grammar is teh SuXX0r today…
Rosie wouldn’t be able to handle effective confrontation for more than a week. She’s a spoiled person, who can’t stand other opinion.

One of my jobs is inspecting fireproofing sprayed onto the steel structure of buildings under construction. I wonder if the people paying me to do it know that steel can’t be damaged by fire?
B Moe on March 29, 2007 at 7:02 PM
Sorry, should have been they “get” her.
Glynn on March 29, 2007 at 7:03 PM
Camryn Manheim is on tomorrow. She is a big time Bush hater. She and Rosie will have lots to talk about.
Glynn on March 29, 2007 at 7:04 PM
I’m sure it was a slip of the tongue but she actually said “during the Jimmy Carter error”. I’m sure she meant to say “era”, but slip was ironic, nevertheless. It’s amazing how knowledgeable she is on, literally, every subject one can conceive. She’s the new Goreacle. Her insightful point of how the unfortunate phrase, “War on Terror”, makes everyone either “good” or “evil” is pure enlightenment. And, may I say, thank you Rosie for finally explaining how those towers came down on 9/11. Now, I just need one more answered question to complete my list of reasons to die…WHAT THE @%&$ DID YOUR PARENTS DO TO YOU TO MAKE YOU THE MOST MORONIC @SSHAT EVER TO SIT BEHIND A CAMERA?
thedecider on March 29, 2007 at 7:09 PM
Why did I listen to that?
I told myself, “no, Pinky, you know what this will due to you……. it will make you sick, don’t watch..”
Now I’m sick! Thanks Allah!
PinkyBigglesworth on March 29, 2007 at 7:10 PM
Well. Capital “B,” yes.
Jim Treacher on March 29, 2007 at 7:11 PM
Resolute, don’t let the audience response disturb you. Those people are in the same mind set as those who went to the Jerry Springer Show. They live for the chance to witness someone losing control.
If we could get a heavy set, outspoken, dangerous conservative lady on The [Dismal] View then we would have a ratings success. IMHO, the conservative would have to be in Rosie’s weight class if she wanted any chance of competing.
DannoJyd on March 29, 2007 at 7:15 PM
It’s absolutely, positively devastating to see the corrosive effects of huffing glue and other household chemicals. When you mix them with an overdose of cough syrup, you arrive at Rosie’s rant as seen above. Pitiful and pathetic.

No, just pour Coke on it.

Rosy thinks gravy is a soft drink and also sweats barbeque sauce. These qualifications are obviously enough to make her an expert on everything.

Now you’re talkin…
But seriously, this video of Rosie can be used as the instructional video to describe acute Bush Derangement Syndrome (BDS).

I kind of think it’s the same type of audience that attends Bill Maher’s show.
Rick on March 29, 2007 at 7:37 PM
Too right Rosie. No double speak here.
Iran would not have detained the sailors without cause because no government would ever attempt to provoke a war.
What actually happened was the British & American administrations SENT those sailors into Iranian waters to…er…provoke a war.
Why is it so implausible to believe that governments would seek to provoke a war. Er…except Iran um….
Oh
yes
And we mustn’t demonise Iran. Okay, so they stone women and hang gay people, but we mustn’t demonise them.
And no – I don’t think the authorities perpetrated 9/11. I just think they placed explosives in the WTC…er…

Come on, Guys! You should be laughing at this clip!! Am I the only one that giggled my way through it, looking at the “rabbit ears” behind Rosie’s head??
It’s almost like the cameral person was messing with her with that angle.
She said NOTHING…but the “ears” say it all!!
ROFLMAO!

and furthermore…who gives a shite what that hate-filled whale says? It’s on MORNING tv, for crying out loud.

The facial expressions on the clueless moonbat Behar are priceless. Elizabeth you can see the anger in her body language. IMHO it will be Elizabeth who holds the keys to The Views future. She must leave. This will crash the House of Walters and this shrine of liberalism. Elizabeth may have to bite a financial bullet but if she values her self-esteem more, she will not allow herself to be bullied by this facist pig.
Doctorted on March 29, 2007 at 7:47 PM
Please tell me that crowd is made up from folks who couldn’t pass The Price is Right audience entrance exam.
Rosie is about as believable and profound as my baby daughter when tells me she didn’t poop, despite the stink wafting from her diaper.
SailorDave on March 29, 2007 at 7:51 PM
My ears are bleeding after listening to that. My eyes always bleed when Rosie is in the camera lens. I would prefer her in the telescopic lens.
NeoConSnakePlissken on March 29, 2007 at 7:55 PM
It is a good thing that the View was around in 1920. With this type of idioticy women would never have gotten the right to vote.
Dunn’s First Principle: With enough idiots, you don’t need a conspiracy. Obviously in Rosie’s case, enough is one.
Wil on March 29, 2007 at 7:57 PM
O’Reilly is pounding her now (so to speak)…
Zorro on March 29, 2007 at 8:06 PM
I’m with you, don’t take her off the air. She is great to watch and listen to, absolutly the funniest weirdist person on tv. Notice how our leftist trolls hide in the background when she spouts off? They know she speaks for the majority of their party, and they are ashamed, but to dumb to try to change it.
right2bright on March 29, 2007 at 8:10 PM
Behar and O’Donnel must have ignored the comments on this web site that were posted over the past few days.
Both of them tried to mock Yale, claiming that Bush went to Yale, ergo Yale must not be that great a school.
They should write on the board 5,000 Times per day for one month “Bush went to Harvard and Yale. Bush went to both Harvard and Yale. Bush went to both Harvard and Yale,” and on and on.
They could also write “Clinton went to Yale. Clinton went to Yale,” and “Kerry went to Yale. Kerry went to Yale. Kerry went to Yale.”
When will these Oracles get it right?

William2006 on March 29, 2007 at 8:10 PM
Wow, you need to go outside the U.S. to find out what is going on inside the U.S.? What is that lard smoking? Poor Elisabeth, having everyone else in the entire room against you can’t be fun.
WisCon on March 29, 2007 at 8:37 PM
Funny how her comments on her website (even the “ask Rosie” link) are all turned off — typical close-minded idiot! Someone needs to call her to the carpet for her ridiculous and stupid accusations abd hallucinations. ABC needs an enema!

unbelievably stupid.
Hey,Rosie,are you really that dumb?
lizzee on March 29, 2007 at 8:57 PM
I was just about to note this same thing. Comments have been off since earlier today (at least) but the “ask rosie” box or whatever the little contact form was, is now totally gone.
And incase anyone missed this that I posted earlier, I think it’s important to note just what a nut she truly is (though O’Reilly has now taken the comments mainstream)
http://www.rosie.com/blog/2007/03/28/britis-hostages/
And again I want to note that she’s acting like a grade school child with her texting/IMing style of writing in the blog (Important to keep in mind if you want to “get the joke” when reading Treacher’s parody after following the link in AP’s update to the post)
RightWinged on March 29, 2007 at 8:57 PM
treacher’s post: LOL!
jummy on March 29, 2007 at 8:57 PM
Always difficult to watch Rosie become more and more unhinged. I think the ABC comment was actually a pre-emptive strike by her to hold the network from canning her. Now if ABC pulls Rosie she can say that they pulled her because of that one comment and it had nothing to do with her unhingness. But, maybe I give her too much credit.
hoosierken on March 29, 2007 at 8:59 PM
By the way, has anyone taken a look at Rosie’s blogroll? Not even really a blog roll… just a link list. It has 17 sites… 2 of which are Truther sites… “Scholars for 9/11 Truth” and WTC7.net
RightWinged on March 29, 2007 at 8:59 PM
Oh, and if anyone here has any friends that shout “WTC 7!”, arm yourself, starting here http://www.debunking911.com/pull.htm
That way you won’t be like Elizabeth “Deer in the headlights” Hasselbeck.

Rosie even ridiculously claimed that “we shouldn’t be afraid of terrorists”.
So here’s my proposal for you, Rosie:
Why don’t you go to Tehran and offer yourself to become a hostage in exchange for Iran releasing all the UK hostages.

This video makes one ashamed to be female.
Rosie is contemptably stupid and no comment here does justice to that idiocy.
The chick next to her looks relatively good but shockingly stupid.
Next to her, Ms. ‘pretend to be smart’ says ‘he’s a bad guy, he asked for Isreal to be destroyed, however Bush, bla, bla, bla’, or something close.
Elizabeth, well, I’m not impressed by her – she’s just there symbolically, has no idea how to argue facts, and her presence adds no substance, really.
The audience, well, not worth commenting on.
Most disturbing is ABC and Barbara Walters.
Entelechy on March 29, 2007 at 9:36 PM
Did you watch that video of Evan Sayet at the Heritage Foundation Rightwinged? He talked a lot about how liberals behave the way they do because they’re trying to stay in their childhood where everything was safe.
forged rite on March 29, 2007 at 9:42 PM
Where did Rosie learn chemistry and physics?
She claimed that never in history has steel been melted by fire.
She does not have to ask a Harvard or Yale physicist to come on the show and discuss it. All she has to do is ask a fire fighter to come and discuss it.
If I had a dime for every old warehouse that I saw after a fire destroyed it, with twisted steel girders, bent and twisted by the heat of fire, I’d be so rich I could own property in Maui, in India, in the Florida Keys, in San Diego, and Tuscany, Italy, and in Cozumel, Mexico, all at the same time!

KP is on Hannity and not defending Rosie. I’m shocked. Maybe being on the show the same time as MM has had a positive effect on her. Maybe. I won’t hold my breath.
I take it back… She won’t shut up, talks over Sean…
Bill Cunningham is great tho. He told Sean to tell KP to shut up. LOL!

I dont know when these lefties became so unhinged (rhetorical question) but it’s almost patholgical and I almost want them all rounded up and sent to Russia or somewhere cuz i cant take it anymore.
VinceP1974 on March 29, 2007 at 9:52 PM
It’s not so much what she says rather than what she doesn’t say. She says only that towers 1 and 2 were “hit by planes”. Who was piloting those planes, Rosie, and on whose behest were they acting? You can’t buy the tower 7 conspiricy without going for the rest. After all, why would tower 7 have been rigged with explosives if it wasn’t part of the entire attack? Would it make sense for someone to have the building ready to fall just in case there was another attack on the WTC? And why would they have pulled it down later that afternoon, when the area had been completely evacuated? For it to be a terror attack and a casus belli, shouldn’t there have been some deaths?
Oh, why am I bothering? We all know that truthers have nothing but circuitious arguments, impenatrable to logic.
KGB on March 29, 2007 at 9:54 PM
honora mentioned on the ‘ugly’ thread, and I liked this: Ron White often says
These people prove it is a terminal condition. Physicists the world over are inginant, including those Yale and Harvard professors of physics.
Rosie still doesn’t know that Mr. Bush went to both prestigious universities. How come no one has enlightened her on that tidbit yet?
Tadaaaa, no one’s home up there…it’s all straw, and in the middle is a note, which reads “Brain”.

Rove’s been indicted! w00t!
Anyways, Rosie wants me to read international media to find out what’s really going on in the US? Hmm, but they just copy and paste from AP and the New York Times…
It’s all a major brainwashing conspiracy! FOX, ABC, NBC, CNN, CBS, MSNBC, the New York Times, AP, Washington Post, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, all owned by FOUR companies! Well, four in Rosiedecimal anyways.

Rosie is so fat, you’d have to take two busses and a taxi just to get on her good side.
csdeven on March 29, 2007 at 11:10 PM
. . . (Flecks of spittle formed on the corners of her mouth as she continued) Yeah, and those hostages during the Kotter administration–they were a false flag operation too. Yeah, that’s the ticket, and they stayed in there for 444 days–are you going to tell me that 444 days is a coincidence? I’ve talked to professors of statistics who’ve told me that the odds of them coming out on a day where all three numerals are the same is like 5 million to one or something like that. 1979 divided by 4 (the number of years we’ve been in Iraq) is 494 and change. 494 minus 50, which is how many years it’s been since Israel was formed (the cause of all Arab people’s suffering) is–yup–444. When I hear that number 444, I think one thing–Karl Rove. There are even numbers, there are odd numbers, there are prime numbers, and there are Rove numbers, and that my friends, is a Rove number. Now Bush and his merry band of brownshirts will tell you that 1979 was when “Islamofascism,” when the “war of terror” got started. It’s SOO perfect, like a Norbert Hitchcock movie. Now turn up the volume because I’m going to tell you something that will blow your mind. So an incident . . . that THEY CAUSED . . .is now being used as the ultimate pretext for, for (here it comes!) sucking your brains out through your fingers by means of your computer keyboard. Yes, yes, because the Daily Kos and DU and Moveon.org are ALSO FALSE FLAG OPS, and all Chimpyhallishitler’s antics are only designed to make you blog more, so you’re brains get sucked out faster! Don’t you see? Don’t you see? It all makes so much sense!!! STOP BLOGGING AND JUST WATCH THE VIEW! i’LL TELL YOU EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW!! Anyway TV has a smaller carbon footprint–it’s like taking a bus because everyone is watching the same program. Oh, where was I. . . oh yeah, brains, we’re losing our brains. . .
Nah, I can’t do it. Try as I might, I’m no match for Rosie. Anyway, it isn’t as much fun as it looks being loopy. You feel like some third grader is going to push you down and take your lunch money, intellectually speaking. I’ve gotta admit, like many above, I couldn’t push play either. Once a week is enough of that exotic sclerotic oil drum with a mouth. But somehow, after 163 comments, I think I’ve gotten the picture. You watched, so I didn’t have to. Thanks, all.
smellthecoffee on March 29, 2007 at 11:23 PM
But you will never see a conservative on any of these shows “win” an argument. They are designed so that the conservative will always be outnumbered by the moonbats which makes it very easy for them to be too swarmed by opposing points to be seen as winning. It’s the same on every one of these shows.
Benaiah on March 29, 2007 at 11:28 PM
Wasn’t there a time when this show wasn’t political? And the girls just talked about feminine products and crap?
I find it hard to believe that stay at home moms (probably the primary audience) wants to listen to this blather every day. if they do, this country is in sad shape.
lorien1973 on March 29, 2007 at 11:32 PM
Possibly. That and when you have someone who isn’t really informed to combat the lies; it makes it worse.
Rosie has all night to come up with truther ammo. Hasselbeck doesn’t research. For a long time, I couldn’t answer the truther attacks, now I know more than they do, and anything they bring up is easily defeated. I can counter every single truther point on forums with no effort expended.
Truthers rely on people not being informed. People who know the facts laugh at truthers.
lorien1973 on March 29, 2007 at 11:34 PM
I would have given a lot of money to have had EH ask “so are Bush and his administration evil?” when Rosie was blabbering on how evil it is to divide people into good and evil.

Am I the only one who watches the view and comes to the inescapable conclusion that the 19th Amendment was a really, really bad idea?
billy on March 29, 2007 at 11:42 PM
No no no! You all have it wrong. The steel didn’t melt. By even continuing the line, you feed into their idiocy.
Steel loses 50% of his strength at 1/3 of its melting point (oddly enough, this is about how hot it got). Was the building designed to stand with 50% of its support taken away? No!
For building 7, your argument is:
building 7 was built atop a subway/train station. It had fewer internal supports than a normal building. So it took less damage for it to collapse. the wtc.nist.gov site shows that 1 or 2 of the main supporting pylons took major damage from the falling WTc debris. Its collapse was inevitable.
Then, you make the logical point.
If the government already hijacked 4 planes, why wouldn’t they just hijack a 5th one to ram into WTC 7. why go out of theme and explode one building. It doesn’t even make sense, logically.
lorien1973 on March 29, 2007 at 11:45 PM
I’m loathe to do it, as all hope seems lost, but try I must.
Boot up the word processor and fire off a letter to ABC/The View.

Haha, sorry guys, I thought everyone had listened to that Penn audio.
The genius actually diverted from his script a bit… the audio he actually says “bloodsoaked” but the transcript or “open letter” as he calls it, that he posted at HuffPo reads “bloodstained”. Not sure if there’s a difference, but I’ve been going with bloodstained.
So a big note to everyone, I don’t actually have soiled or bloodstained underwear, and yes I think that’s disgusting. But the hilarity of the fact that Sean Penn used such odd language to bash Bush outweighs the grossness, so I’ve adopted that catch phrase as my own, strictly for humor. Just as my new text message notification on my phone is the dean scream… I’ve gotten more than a few odd looks when I’m just standing there talking to someone, getting my hair cut, playing pool with younger cousins at my grandfathers, etc. and from my right him comes a loud “YAAAAAAARGH”. My point is, I like adopting the extreme idiocy of the left as my own… sadly the majority of people don’t get it, while inside I’m laughing my ass off.

You know what’s really pathetic?
Sean Penn, and the rest of the crowd, are actually fairly good actors.

Excuse me if someone pointed this out already, I haven’t read through the 185 comments, but besides the obvious stupidity of her comment about Iran and hostage-taking, there’s a very recent counter-example.
Remember that story about Swiss troops invading Liechtenstein? That is an example of how ethical, peaceful nations behave during border disputes. They don’t hold the soldiers hostage and make demands for their release. For some reason Rosie concentrates on the demand itself, while ignoring the fact that the soldiers are being held hostage. And hostage-taking is generally been frowned upon by… civilization. Also, 2 + 2 = 4, since I’m pointing out the obvious.

I know, it sucks. I want to refuse to watch movies by these types, but their numbers are constantly growing in Hollywood, and there wouldn’t be much available for me to watch if I took a real stand and cut out movies with every whacked out lib.

Let me put it like this regarding the ‘acting’….
I haven’t watched a Fonda movie since Barbarella. Did I miss something? Is my life forlorn because I haven’t seen Klute or On Golden Pond? Probably. But Sean hasn’t been able to put any of my money up his nose since ‘We’re No Angels’.
