I’m not exaggerating when I say that this is the video against which all future Rosie clips will be compared. Never has so much useful idiocy about so many subjects been compressed into so little time.
It’s her finest hour.
To the best of my knowledge this is the first time she’s used the show to advance Trutherism, which would seem to present a bit of a quandary for the resident “serious journalist.” Will she continue to lend her prestige to too-nutty-for-the-nutroots anti-Americanism? Or is it time to cut Big Mama loose and preserve whatever shred of credibility the show still has left?
Update: Treacher channels the Bard of Melting Skyscrapers.

I can’t even bring myself to push “play”.
wretched blowhard in love with her own voice
ej_pez on March 29, 2007 at 4:36 PM
I didn’t think that the show had any credibility to begin with.
Pulchritudinous Patriot on March 29, 2007 at 4:36 PM
Oh, man.
Its hard to not cringe when exposed to stupidity like that. Especially when its yelling in your face.

MAN THE HARPOONS!!!!!!!!!
Darth Executor on March 29, 2007 at 4:37 PM
The show never had credibility and they won’t dump Rosie until the ratings start to dip and that won’t happen as long as folks are curious about what gonna spew out her cake hole next.
The View went from a run of the mill ‘chick chat’ show to the televised equivalent of a car wreck, and Babwa’s making a mint off it.
MoxArgon on March 29, 2007 at 4:37 PM
Geez when Joy Behar seems like the voice of reason then something is very Twilight Zonish.
Hilts on March 29, 2007 at 4:38 PM
Actually, I’m more disturbed by the crowd’s reaction than by what Rosie said.
Kudos to Elizabeth for pushing her to admit her Trutherism.
Slublog on March 29, 2007 at 4:39 PM
dude. she’s even got the buildings mixed up with the fire melting steel and “pull it”.
i can’t wait to see how the physisist proff thing pans out.
jummy on March 29, 2007 at 4:41 PM
Rating must be real good for ABC to keep the mindless drivel spewing forth — there is not a rational brain between the 4 woman on the show. Even the conservative is a mindless twit —
jimwesty on March 29, 2007 at 4:42 PM
SarahK finally removed The View from our DVR. I’d much rather watch General Hospital with her than have to see Rosie.
frankj on March 29, 2007 at 4:43 PM
I have to give Hasselbeck a little credit for forcing Rosie to reveal herself as a Truther, but I still don’t have a lot of respect for her just sitting there and taking it most of the time. To be honest, I just don’t think she’s equipped to debate… and when it comes to Rosie it doesn’t take much. Hasselbeck should be able to easily destroy and embarass Rosie each time she opens her fat mouth. The fact that she just gets shouted down, and largely just takes it, makes Rosie look like she’s winning.
Hasselbeck needs to say “listen to yourself you freakin’ nutcase!” She needs to go spend some time reading the debunking of 9/11 conspiracy theories so she can hit back instead of just shrugging her shoulders. She needs to mock Rosie for saying stupid things like everyone in the administration is under indictment… or at least suspicion (paraphrasing, because I can’t bare to watch that again for the exact quote).
But remember this as the day Trutherism went mainstream (maybe). I thought the Truther propaganda she posted on her blog a couple weeks ago would be the spark, but no one really picked it up outside of the blogs. At least by tomorrow H&C and O’Reilly will likely bring it in to the mainstream, and as always instead of investing the time debunking the conspiracy theoriees for their vast audiences, they’ll just draw attention to things like “Loose Change”, which in turn will get many more people looking at the conspiracy theories (but not the debunking) and I think everyone here would admit that if you watched “Loose Change”, thinking you’re keeping an open mind, it’s relatively easy to be pulled in with all of the big “questions” that are raised.
This may not be it, but I still feel something will kick of the mainstream Trutherism and before long close to half the country will be not buying the “official story”. I would even guess that probably 40% will say that before the President leaves office. We’ll also have some U.S. Congresspeople and possibly Senators “asking the questions” (i.e. becoming Truthers) as well.
RightWinged on March 29, 2007 at 4:44 PM
Man, i hope she stays on the air a long time. I think the more this kind of leftist thinking is exposed, the better it is for conservatives.
forged rite on March 29, 2007 at 4:45 PM
Oh, I don’t know. She does all right, considering that she’s being bellowed at most of the time.
Plus, she is the easiest to look at, by far.
Did you notice how everyone got really silent (other than the crowd) when Rosie started in on the Trutherism? The guest star looked nervous as all heck.
Slublog on March 29, 2007 at 4:45 PM
Unfortunately, EH has never seen the Popular Mechanic’s book on the subject of the WTC. She at least does the right thing and keeps her mouth shut as Rosie blathers on. How they keep her on the show after this is beyond me. I’m am waiting for her to blame the Jooos.

I nominate Rosie O for U.S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
Kid from Brooklyn on March 29, 2007 at 4:48 PM
Props to Hasselbeck for Jedi mind-tricking Ro into that whole Truthiness rant.
Kid from Brooklyn on March 29, 2007 at 4:49 PM
The audience applause is almost more offensive than Blowsie.
BirdEye on March 29, 2007 at 4:50 PM
According to Rosie, she is fed propaganda on a daily basis.
Hmmm, I wonder what the fat content of propaganda is?
1 serving of propaganda=1,000,000 calories.
mattshu on March 29, 2007 at 4:50 PM
Or Iran.
amerpundit on March 29, 2007 at 4:51 PM
BTW, does Rosy know that they hang gay people in Iran?
amerpundit on March 29, 2007 at 4:51 PM
moonbattery. People across the country are actually listening to this nut, and nodding their heads in agreement. I hope they DO get somebody from Harvard (or Yale, Joy), or better yet from RPI’s engineering dept to come on and talk about it. Maybe that’d shut her up.
dalewalt on March 29, 2007 at 4:52 PM
I can’t bring myself watch the video … it would be total self-torture.
thirteen28 on March 29, 2007 at 4:53 PM
The scariest thing is the sheep in the audience clapping to every talking point that Rosie makes. Especially when they clap to her impromptu physics lesson. She is probably the dumbest person on TV. Behar a close second.
Mindcrime on March 29, 2007 at 4:53 PM
let me third the hasselback commendation. i think she does a good job. i’d be more aggressive, but it’s important to know what you know and not go after every point whether you have a good refutation or not. hasselback seems to know this and just hangs back. it allows rosie to expose herself as a bullying nutcase.
jummy on March 29, 2007 at 4:54 PM
Wouldn’t it make more sense to find a physicist at MIT than Yale or Harvard?
htom on March 29, 2007 at 4:54 PM
RW, I agree with you that Elizabeth isn’t really equipped to ‘handle’ Rosie, but then I’m not sure too many people *are*. Rosie gets so loud and obnoxious that you’d have to be loud and obnoxious right back; and the viewership wouldn’t put up with that.
dalewalt on March 29, 2007 at 4:55 PM
Oh. My. God. A Rosie tour de force. Absolutely breath-taking in its sheer stupidity.
flipflop on March 29, 2007 at 4:56 PM
and yes, the worst part by far is the audience.
it’s like i’ve said before: it’s 1973 all over again. it’s like a goddam f**king doctor who episode.
jummy on March 29, 2007 at 4:56 PM
…and the Sheeple clap and clap and clap.
StoutRepublican on March 29, 2007 at 4:58 PM
How’d you think she got the job?
Besides, you have to remember that only libtards are allowed to argue. Conservatives have to sit there and take it meekly on the chin, because we’re so much better than they are. If, Heaven forbid, Hasselbeck were ever to respond in the way that the fat, lesbian vampire deserves, there’d be a stampede of her “fellow conservatives” rushing to throw her under the nearest bus for being “mean.”
There are only two rational responses to Truthers anyway:
Either you shrug and leave or you knock ‘em over and grind the heel of your boot into their ignorant, simian faces until you get bored.
But that would be a waste of a perfectly good boot, so I wouldn’t recommend it.
Misha I on March 29, 2007 at 4:58 PM
Allah or anybody else. What is the official definition of “trutherism” just so we can get it submitted to Webster Dictionary?

Sweetums, how do you think iron ore is smelted?
Beauty may only be skin deep, but in Rosie’s case, stupid goes all the way to the bone.
George Bruce on March 29, 2007 at 5:00 PM
Did I hear Rosie correctly, did she say “The Jimmy Carter error” at the beginning of the clip?
I’d love to see someone like Laura Ingraham guest host, and as a surprise bring out a panel of distinguished physicists and engineers to slowly disect the pack of Truther lies that Rosie subscribes to. Unfortunately, satisfaction would be limited since Rosie is the sort of person who confronts defeat by trying to shout down her opponent.

Only because of Babawawa has she not done that yet. But she’s gotta be getting close.
John on March 29, 2007 at 5:11 PM
Hmm, how hard will it be to find a truther at Harvard or Yale?
Valiant on March 29, 2007 at 5:11 PM
One thing she said that was close to the truth. The profiteering on the war. And her friend and senator Feinstein made the most of it.
right2bright on March 29, 2007 at 5:12 PM
I could read Harry Potter with an open mind and reach the same conclusions. No less fiction.
I’m sorry, I tried to watch Loose Change with an open mind once. I barely got through the first minute. As soon as they mentioned Operation Northwoods, I was done. Hint: Operation Northwoods was never an actual operation.
BohicaTwentyTwo on March 29, 2007 at 5:13 PM

Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Useless. The Alan Colmes of the show. And that’s why she’s there. Very weak.
Debbie Schlussel on March 29, 2007 at 5:18 PM
Lorien, isn’t that the definition of a liberal?
DannoJyd on March 29, 2007 at 5:21 PM
That’s because you had knowledge of something most people don’t. I watched one of these conspiracy theory videos back in 2002 and was temporarily pulled in because “the questions” seemed like they needed answering. Again, they all have been answered, but to the headline reading idiots that most of America is, it’s easy to think something doesn’t add up, until you invest the time in debunking. It’s easy to hear “there was no plane debris found at the Pentagon” and think “whoa!”, and take it at face value because why would someone so blatantly lie when they could get busted if they were? In fact that is a total lie, but do you think the average person is going out to google that. And even if they do, they’re mainly going to find more truther sites due to the type of keywords they’d be searching. It’s a lot more work to thoroughly debunk complex things, than it is for some douche to play scary music and make an allegation that to the average viewer seems credible. I can’t really blame someone for seeing the picturs that the Truthers selectively show and say “wow, I really don’t see evidence of a plane” and not having the ability or time to find the debunking information.
Anyway, my point was that 99% of the public isn’t going to know anything about Northwoods… they’ll just think this is part of the long line of conspiracies they’re just learning about.

Aren’t truthers liberals? Many liberals won’t admit to being truthers, but the Rosie situation confirms that many probably are.

Misha I on March 29, 2007 at 5:34 PM
I don’t know, but I do want to say that gullibility seems to be a common trait among famous talk show host lesbians. Rosie has been drawn in to the conspiracy theory world, but won’t be fooled by “false flag” operations. Ellen Degeneres on the other hand was fooled by Anne Heche’s false fag operation.
RightWinged on March 29, 2007 at 5:35 PM
Debbie Frisch taught her to spell.
Oh, and she’s a flaming, illiterate retard as well.
But you already knew that, of course.
Misha I on March 29, 2007 at 5:36 PM
Just for !@#$s and giggles, let’s say this was indeed a “false flag” operation. The Brits did in fact send their sailors and marines into Iranian territory with the intention of being captured, and the Iranians are just peaceful innocents caught up in the plans of the imperialist UK/US powers.
The could circumvent this ENTIRE strategy by the clever stratagem of returning the hostages immediately.
Since that hasn’t happened, I think it’s safe to assume that the scenario posited by the likes of Rosie doesn’t map to actual reality, but only to the fevered dreams of those among us who want to believe the worst about their fellow countrymen and allies, while giving every benefit of the doubt, and then some, to our enemies.

She did very well in outing Rosie as a Truther.
I think you’re being a little unfair, Deb. Not everyone can be a five star debater, let alone against that brutish loudmouth Rosie, plus three other libs. Even a skilled debater would have trouble because they’d get dogpiled and shouted down. She lined up Rosie for a broadside, which is the most we can ask from her. That clip will haunt her.
Good call, I was gonna say Hannity’s not much better, if at all.
Yup.

Elisabeth needs some political support…Get her a co-host that will shut Rosie up! Anyone see the the resemblance of the hunchback from 300 and Rosie?
noodlehead on March 29, 2007 at 6:09 PM
She’s not even a three-star debater. On a daily basis, she is an airhead, and Rosie–despite being the obnoxious nutcase that she is–makes her look even more so. She is no match and completely clueless. She has a few talking points lines, but can’t defend them, because there’s no there, there. The commenter above, who said she’s like Hannity, has a good point. A few times, she’s even broken down in tears b/c of it.
And she constantly capitulates and agrees with a lot of liberal things, like Al Gore’s fake-umentary and promoting transsexuals on soap operas. She’s useless–and hardly a conservative. Ann was a guest co-host once and was not bad, though they stayed away from politics (so it was dull) and that was pre-Rosie. Ingraham was once a guest co-host and was terrible–about as bad as Elizabeth (or worse). Even Simon Cowell (who was a guest) rightly ridiculed her and shot her down, and that wasn’t even about politics.
Debbie Schlussel on March 29, 2007 at 6:10 PM
No Elisabeth needs to say ‘Give me your facts and your sources’…..

Man that’s good. That one made me laugh out loud.
I thought Hasselbeck did okay standing up to Rosie, unfortunately she didn’t seem to have any facts at hand to back up her gut responses. For instance, how about the fact that the Iranians gave out two different locations, the first of which was well inside Iraqi waters.
Wait, I can hear Rosie now…”That’s what they WANT you to think!”
Dope.

RobertCSampson on March 29, 2007 at 6:26 PM
OK, Deb, let’s break this down…
You can’t blame her for this! Not everyone can argue as effectively as you or I. Give her credit for doing the best she could. She’s lined up Rosie for people who, and outed her publicly as a Truther. This will get airplay, and Rosie can be hammered by people who ARE capable of shredding her. I think Hannity can do better, which is why I’m more critical of him.
Lotta people on out side have drunk the ManBearPig Kool-Aid. I know nothing about the soap opera, so I’ll just say, its a stupid soap opera….
The fact she baited Rosie into public trutherism is proof she’s not worthless.
