I think if Fred runs, he’ll get a lot of support in Texas.

I love grits, and cream of wheat…and both with a hint of sweetness to them.

Agreed.

I like his straight talk. He doesn’t sound like a politician just saying what he thinks people want to hear but rather says what he truly feels. I’d vote for his for POTUS in a heartbeat vs. any of the current candidates.

I agree reaps. Ron Paul was a Libertarian before becoming a Republican. The only reason he became a Republican is because the Republican Party took over Texas politics in the 1990′s. Texas Democrats hate him and Republicans don’t care much for him either. He has always been a maverick. That Pajama Media pool is rigged.

Ain’t no way Ron Paul could muster enough votes in a primary or a general election.

I thought Texas was quite liberal? Wasn’t it blue before Governor Bush came along?

Texas was traditionally “Southern Democrat” for a long time, but it’s been shifting red for several elections. There are lots of people like my father, who thought he was a Democrat for much of his early adult life and gradually came to the realization that Dems represented almost nothing that he held dear, while Republicans did. Gov. Ann Richards was the last representative of that old Texas southern Democratism. These days, Texas is pretty solidly red–both the governorship and the legislature are safely in Republicans’ hands and look to stay that way for some time to come. Presidential candidates don’t spend a lot of effort on Texas because it’s pretty much tied up for the Republican without a fight.

There are pockets of liberalism in Texas–most notably Austin, which is a hippie town at heart. But the suburbs and countryside are very conservative.

But they are even better fried (yes, cooked then fried) with cheese & bacon.

And I live in the Bronx, grew up in the worst part of Jersey and my Grandmother served me grits every damn day. I put maple syrup on ‘em.

Who is Basil Harrington? He claims AEI is not conservative? Is he crazy? Taking analysis of a group called Americans for Better Immigration as fact? Who are they? Their website states that they non-partisan, but, it doesn’t give specifics on the group itself. How do we know? Harrington’s analysis is not very scholarly.

Very good. Too bad he’s not a Christian and can’t become president.

Nope. my mom’s garlic cheese grits, baked to perfection in the oven. served at Easter brunch with a breakfast casserole and homemade cornbread (the kind baked in a cast iron skillet with lots of grease). Now THAT’s perfection!!

You put butter and Tabasco on grits! I think AP is actually from New York, but using a fake southern accent!
