Islamist women raid brothel, kidnap prostitutes in Islamabad

Feminism, jihad style!

Female Islamist students wearing burkas raided a brothel and were holding the alleged owner inside their fundamentalist madrasa last night in the latest assault by extremists on President Pervez Musharraf’s bruised authority.

Women with bamboo staves stood guard on the roof of Jamia Hafsa madrasa, Islamabad, where they were holding alleged brothel madam “Auntie Shamim”, two other women and a six-month-old girl.

Masked men from Lal Masjid, a radical mosque next door, patrolled the streets outside. They abducted two policemen and impounded their vehicles after the authorities arrested two teachers and two students from the madrasa in a botched attempt to defuse the crisis…

Yesterday the cleric who speaks on behalf of the female students, Abdul Rashid Ghazi, said: “Every crime reporter in Islamabad knows these women are prostitutes. If the police cannot arrest them, we should have an Islamic justice.”

The women had ignored warnings to close their brothel because they were connected to “powerful people”, he said. They were being treated well and would be released if they found another trade, he said. Mr Ghazi wants to turn Pakistan into a Sharia-run state and has brought thousands of radicalised students into the capital to live in madrasas.

This isn’t some nomadic tribal area out in the sticks. This is where the Pakistani seat of government resides; Lal Masjid is less than a mile away from the embassy district, according to a Guardian profile of Ghazi published eight days ago. Read it. He admits to having met Osama and practically swoons while watching jihadi snuff videos from Iraq of Juba the sniper. Last month he sent his female “students” to occupy a children’s library to protest Musharraf’s plans to destroy mosques built on government land that had been illegally occupied. It worked — the government agreed to rebuild at least one mosque it had already destroyed.

Musharraf is in a tough spot right now of his own making after he tried to remove the country’s chief justice before the upcoming presidential elections (which he’s trying to sidestep to retain power). The judiciary is in revolt and popular support is at ebb tide so he can’t crack down on the Islamists the way he might like for fear of stirring things up further. Make a mental note, though, of this cleric and this mosque because they’ve gotten bold lately and are apt to get bolder. I’m sure we’ll be hearing from them again. I just wonder which context it’ll be in.

“Islamic justice”? That’s an oxymoron. So now the women are gonna stone women in the public square? We need women to fight AGAINST islamic extremism, not for it. These women probably raise their kids to be martyrs too. This is a step backwards. Not that prostitution is to be defended or anything.

Lal Masjid is less than a mile away from the embassy district

Which explains the proximity of the brothel.

Islamist kidnapping prostitutes? This may be the catalyst needed to convince the democrats to join the war on terror.

Probably to overthrow Musharraf. Very interesting story. When radicals start taking the law into their own hands, can anarchy be far behind? If Musharraf can’t put these people down quickly then they only become more emboldened. It’s not surprising they would target a brothel, but I still can’t get my head around Islamic “feminists” in strong support of fundamentalist law. It doesn’t make sense to me.

Jerrold Nadler and Ted Kennedy are bursting with pride at the early effects of their reintroducing the ERA legislation.

I agree with everything you said, thedecider.
Why would they do it? Battered wife syndrome, literally.
This is very bad news.
If we lose Musharraf, the GWOIT (Global War on Islamist Terror) is about to get a whole lot uglier.

Jen the Neocon on March 28, 2007 at 10:31 PM

True Jen, the last thing we need is a Taliban style gov’t with nukes. They could hand nukes off to terrorists to whatever with, sell tech to other terror friendly nations, or use them on India, and that’ll be a really bloody mess if that goes down.

Bad Candy on March 28, 2007 at 10:43 PM

Wait until the Burka Brigade raids a nuke missle site. Katie bar the door.

Can you say Portland? /s

Where is NOW? Looks like PC trumps “sisterhood.” Man, that’s gotta hurt if you’re a feminazi.

Hey, this is really simple. Someone just needs to tell those burka-babes about the root causes that led those women into prostitution, and then they’ll all get an irresistable urge to buy NPR coffee mugs and everything will be fine.

I gotta ask–how do you get rowdy in a burka? I’ve always wondered the same thing about the Klan. Doesn’t the one you’re messing with just pull your robe down a foot or so, and then beat you at will? Hey, it’s worked for countless NHL players.

Osama better hope Pakistan doesn’t devolve into a Taliban Sharia morass because nothing would keep us out of the badlands after that.
If a Talibani nuclear Pakistan comes into existence license to engage will surely be issued.

The U.N., NOW, Nanci Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, and their affiliates, the world over, are ALL OVER THIS CASE…

…they’re over it, before it got noticed…that is…

Nancy, that is, and left out Barbra Streisand and Cindy Sheehan, and theirs…

I just think that the Muslim women are jealous that the prostitutes are treated more like women than they are. After all, when you are treated like cattle, you are going to lash out at someone….

They have a very hateful spiteful life. It doesn’t surprise me they will in kind return the favor to others they feel superior to. Very sad :( .

Highrise on March 29, 2007 at 2:24 AM

They need to ship all of thier nukes and scientists to an undisclosed location and commence with cleansing the country of the jihadist vermin by any means necessary.

Viper1 on March 29, 2007 at 5:55 AM

Candy and Jen got it right, if we lose Mushy,There’d be a civil war and we’d have a whole ‘nother Talibanistan to deal with, only this time they’d have nukes. The Air Force would hafta bomb their nukes OR the Spec Ops would hafa go in and secure, disable and remove them.

Viper’s got the right idea. Mushy oughta do this BEFORE he gets taken out.

Tony737 on March 29, 2007 at 9:09 AM

Tony737,

Iran is capturing an allies sailors and putting them on jihad TV. We don’t have the stones to go over there and MAKE them release them. Hell, we’re giving the Iraq terrorists a date to hold out until; there is no way in hell this spineless, feckless bunch of turdballs we have in charge are going to do one damn thing should Musharraf fall. Hold a press conference, blame President Bush, shrug regretfully, and go back to fun and games with US attorneys. Foreign policy now is reciting peace movement bumper stickers on the floor of the House and Senate. We’ve gone from superpower to superpu..puddy tat. I agree with you..but I think we’re in for disappointment. Mushy seems to be a survivor. Let’s hope he can hold on.

austinnelly on March 29, 2007 at 10:13 AM

What is wrong with you people? Have you never seen a Charles Bronson movie called, “Death Wish”?

Is prostitution illegal in Islamabad? Then the women may have an argument in defense of their actions; an illegal business was staying in business due to corrupt politicians. Imagine in this country if some Christians raided a crack house that everyone knew was there and was protected by corrupt politicians and performed “citizens arrests” on the dealers and protecting the children in the crack house. I, for one, would applaud their actions. I would hope many people here would as well.

The question is; is prostitution legal in Islamabad? Is this madam protected by corrupt politicians? If so, then I am not particularly alarmed by their action, and I don’t (in this case) care what their religion is.

I just think that the Muslim women are jealous that the prostitutes are treated more like women than they are. After all, when you are treated like cattle, you are going to lash out at someone….

So women should be treated like prostitutes? I can see the bumper sticker now, “Real women do it for money.”

I don’t know, Jen. Might make things better in the long run. Bin Laden is consistently being located in Pak, and the one person keeping us from going in has been Musharraf because of his cooperation with us. If the naton goes fundamentalist, and the average American still believes bin Laden is in Pak, then the Prez would have our support for engaging the Pakistanis who are hiding bin Laden and may evens be able to take out the nuke program as well.

“superputtytat” hahaha funny, unfortutately there’s a lot of truth to it. But I still believe that America will find it’s balls when needed.
