Get Newt on the horn and any other true believing conservative you can find and enlist them for the cause, then get Gore and Leo on the horn and tell them to take a powder for awhile. Chad Griffin, an adviser to Live Earth, was taken aback by Inhofe’s objections to using the Capitol to promote environmental health. The West Front was used to inaugurate Earth Day in a 1990 event, for which Gore, a former senator, sponsored the authorizing resolution.

In other words: "My boss has done crazy partisan events in DC before, so why stop us now? Our fevered world needs big money concerts with partisan shills now more than evah!" And he's wrong that 1990 was the inaugural Earth Day event. The first Earth Day event was in 1970, which by the very definition (as per the Merriam-Webster dictionary) of this transitive verb is "to bring about the beginning of." I'm sure Chad will roll his eyes with exasperation and condescendingly say that when he said the DC concert in '90 was to inaugurate Earth Day he meant it in the sense that it was to inaugurate annual resource-draining rock concerts to raise awareness of how evil RethugliKKKans are draining Mother Earth of her natural resources.... This is why it's tough to take anyone named Chad seriously.

I sincerely believe that these landmark concerts can do for climate change what Live 8 did for climate change.

I suspect John Kerry is pressuring them not to move the concerts because he’s so looking forward to Snoop Dogg’s and Akon’s sets. Because, as you know, he’s “fascinated by rap and hip hop.”

Why is the south the only part of the country capable of voting sane, america first people into washington? Is it really that bad elsewhere in the country?

Like I said, her opponent was much, much worse.

Plus Olympia is good on some issues – the war, land rights, second amendment (she has to be in Maine). I personally don’t like her, but when you consider the demographics and political leanings of this state, she’s pretty darn good.
