I’m embarrassed to say that until a few minutes ago, I’d never heard of UN Watch. But not only does it exist, it participates at the UN as an accredited NGO. With glorious results, apparently.
Here’s the executive director, Hillel Neuer, going batshinola on the UN Human Rights Council at Friday’s session. The Council was formed last year to replace the UN Commission on Human Rights, which was consistently criticized as a power bloc for human-rights abusers and a bludgeon against Israel, Israel, and pretty much only Israel.
A lot’s changed since then, as you’re about to see.
Update: Guess which state the Human Rights Council recently decided to stop investigating.

Truth to power.

“You come in here and tell the truth again, and we’ll have you ejected and the record expunged!”

Who is that President that speaks at the end, trying to collect what’s left of his ass?
Hoodlumman on March 27, 2007 at 10:43 AM
UN Watch is a great organization. They hammer the UN on a consistent basis.
The anti-Israel bias at the UN has been going on for decades. It really is amazing and disgusting. It’s a shame that the vast majority of the world has no idea. They might have a good idea why Israel is so wary of UN brokered and administered cease fires or allowing the UN to be a serious player in negotiations between the Palestinians and themselves.

LGF had this yesterday. I love it. Never heard of UN watch either until yesterday but his take was spot on and probably why the guy who responded got so offensive.
lorien1973 on March 27, 2007 at 10:52 AM
So basically the President put his fingers in his ears, stamped his little feet and screamed ‘Noonie-noonie-noonie’
CUS on March 27, 2007 at 11:00 AM
That president is major bureaucratic putz. If he isn’t already French, we should make him an honorary Frenchman. What perfectly typical PC response. Proof once more that in the PC moral calculus the greatest possible offence is to offend someone. Murder, rape, torture, summary executions of political enemies, women, children, homosexuals? Not so bad. But offend someone? OFF WITH HIS HEAD, OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!! Oh, and we see the same by Rosie, and Sean Penn, Alec Baldwin, et al.

Hillel Neuer deserves a medal. Named after an impressive rabbi, he enters the tower of power with the boldness of Daniel and Amos. May God protect him from those who would use force to silence his message.

The UN causes more problems then they solve. Hypocrisy reigns.

Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem .
And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be torn in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. -Zechariah 12:2, 3

Amazing how the UN council president brushed that away. Not surprising, but amazing.
Bad Candy on March 27, 2007 at 12:20 PM
That was amazing. Can we make him UN Ambassador? I will definitely be learning more about UN Watch. Outstanding. How ironic that the President responded the way he did. “Dissent will be crushed!”

US OUT OF THE UN NOW!
Notice how that yahoo did not even attempt to answer one allegation. He was more concerned with the strong language than the truth Hillel Neuer was speaking to. Truth be known, there was no answer the yahoo could have given. He knows that Mr. Neuer was absolutely correct on every point.
This kind of yahoo response makes me sick. AARRRRG!

I don’t think they really even care that they are being pointed out like this. Who’s going to condemn it? Only the “right wing fascists” like we are… because, after all, to NOT support the islamists, you have to be an evil jooooo lover, worthy of scorn.
Can we get Lady Thatcher, John Paul, and Ronnie back?
Vanceone on March 27, 2007 at 12:40 PM
God bless Hillel Neuer for doing what the lefties in fact never do…come on, you know what I’m going to say:
Speaking Truth to Power!!!
Repeat after me: U.S. out of the U.N.!

Duder has some grade “AAA” minerals, I was all smiles throughout that speech and the “president’s” response was right along the lines of “…thats not a hair question.” But what can you say after getting a mud hole stomped in your butt?
I think its time to put the UN out to pasture.
And who was the congress person that wanted to pass off gun control issues to the UN? I can’t remember. I want to say it was McKinney, but it escapes me….

All United States funding of the UN should stop immediately……. along with any foreign aid.
PinkyBigglesworth on March 27, 2007 at 1:30 PM
Won’t see this on the evening news or in the papers.
Kini on March 27, 2007 at 2:10 PM
It’s nice to know that there’s something the council simply will. not. tolerate! Pity it’s not UN Peacekeepers raping children, or terrorism, or slavery, or nuclear development by rogue states…
Laura on March 27, 2007 at 3:01 PM
Yup, we won’t see this on the BBC, CBC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN … or in any of the major newspapers of what now passes for the free world.
This bespeaks almost as much moral degeneracy among the West’s MSM as it does of the culprits who comprise the UN’s Human Rights Council.

The proper interpretation of the the final comment:
You will praise us or be censored. Do you understand me?
Helloyawl on March 27, 2007 at 6:04 PM
I’m stunned by the response. American elected officials at least attempt to deny or distance themselves from wrong doing. Unelected, unacountable U.N. officials sit there and say let them eat cake.
Resolute on March 27, 2007 at 7:22 PM
The denial of the facts that Director Neuer stated will continue until morale improves
wv2sc on March 27, 2007 at 7:53 PM
Can you guys get an interview with this guy? He probably had factiods that no one else will ever hear about.

P.S. Talk about a source

Mr. Chairman:
You are in the United States. You do not have the luxury of “permitting” speech. Take a note, Haji.
HerrMorgenholz on March 27, 2007 at 8:37 PM
Wow! I am speechless. Bravo, Hillel!
Connie on March 27, 2007 at 9:51 PM
Sorry, but this was just pointless. The director of UN Watch was absolutely truthful in his argument. BUT - he has no power, and NO AUTHORITY to change anything. The UN is the most useless organization one could conceive. It doesn’t matter how articulate or researched his points were. In the end, they fall on deaf ears who have the authority to strike his words from the record. I despise the UN, clearly. But this clip explains my feelings in a nutshell. Pointless.

Miracles happen now and then. My favorite was “the despots who run this council”.
Then the snooty a-s “I can not thank you, bla, bla, bla” with aggrandizement almost as powerful as Gore’s.
Entelechy on March 28, 2007 at 1:02 AM
“Hillel’s views infuriate the council president Luis Alfonso De Alba, who threatens to remove Neuer’s statements from the record.” Too bad his views are “immortal”, thanks to video technology and the internet.
I wonder how much in kick-backs Alba gets from the good ol’ boys in Iran and Uzbekistan. It must be safe now to deport Code Pink to those countries. I’ll start a fund.

I posted this UN Watch video a few weeks ago in one of Ed’s columns, but it was taken down. I guess I offended somebody. I’m very pleased AP posted it for all to see. He’s right. Take five minutes to watch it. You won’t be sorry. The United Nations has spent resolution after resolution condemning Israel. The way they are vilifying Jews is impossible. And if I might add, more of us in the West need to stop worrying whether we are being politically correct or not when it comes to our enemies. For instance, journalists who are worried about offending Muslims in their news reports don’t realize their heads would be the first to come off under Islamic rule! Love me, or hate me, as some of you may have realized by now, I’m not a fan of being PC. People scoff, but it’s destroying the fabric of Western culture.
