McCain’s MySpace page hacked

posted at 12:53 pm on March 27, 2007 by Allahpundit

One of his staffers apparently swiped the page template from its designer without credit, then deeplinked some of the embedded images hosted on the guy’s own server.

Bad move.

Thanks to TheThink. Exit question: How many points will McCain gain from his new stance among young adult males with cable modems?

This is actually sort of funny. This is not a crime, it is a prank.

His page wasn’t “hacked”, the owner of the server that was hosting the image that was used for the contact information box just changed the image they were using. That’s what happens when you deep-link an image from someone else’s server, next time use your own (or at least upload it to MySpace).

Hotlinking is evil, and those who do it deserve what they get.

“Sort of”??

So maybe it’ll be the 2012 election where the candidates finally figure out how to use the Internet…

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy…

Bleck!

Did My Pet Jawa or LGF do the same thing to a jihadi website deep linking it’s pictures?

liquidflorian on March 27, 2007 at 1:25 PM

Judging by the strawpoll results, did anyone other than McCain’s team even notice?

BacaDog on March 27, 2007 at 1:40 PM

Not for the Gorebot – he invented the internets.

Any more information about the passionate females?

I totally agree. Plus this goes on all the time and it’s much more effective to swap an image when bandwidth is being stolen than to send off an email cease and desist. Who ever put the MySpace page together should have known better.

Especially when the person hotlinking is working for McShame.

steveegg on March 27, 2007 at 2:14 PM

It reminds me of the infamous shrillary video-nothing but a publicity stunt. It may work, FWIW.

tormod on March 27, 2007 at 2:15 PM

This is guaranteed to generate more hits for Mc Cain’s page than anything else. Controversy sells and sells well. How may on you looked at the current page to see if the image is still there? Thanks to those who did for increasing Mc Cain’s hit count. No doubt he will emulate the nutroot blogs and claim all those hits as an accurate count of his supporters, whether they support him or not.

Now that’s the way to make sure you’re code work isn’t stolen. McTheif!

Coronagold on March 27, 2007 at 6:09 PM

Define “passionate”? Does passionate=sexy?

Tim Burton on March 27, 2007 at 6:45 PM

If it had said attractive females, then we might have something here…

alflauren on March 27, 2007 at 7:47 PM

As for an atractive one, does This count?
