Video: Rosie blows the lid off the British sailor hostage crisis
posted at 2:32 pm on March 26, 2007 by Allahpundit
Nice catch by the ‘Busters here. Western intel agents tell the Blotter that the kidnapping was indeed retaliation for the American raid in Irbil that netted five big Quds Force fish in January and that Iran may be angling for a swap; Iran denies it. Iraq’s foreign minister supports the British claim that the sailors were in Iraqi waters at the time and has issued a statement attesting to that fact; Iran’s FM insists they were in Iranian waters and claims to have provided GPS coordinates to the British to prove it.
All smoke and mirrors, says our Ro. She knows where the boat was and she knows who’s behind this and it has nothing to do with the Iranian government, even though they, er, admit to having the sailors in their custody. Which brings us to what is, I believe, a milestone for “The View” — the first time she’s engaged openly on the air (but not off it) in conspiracy theorizing.
Here, I’ll save you the trouble.
Exit question: Is it time for Unstable Mabel to go?

Is that exit question one of the rhetorical variety?

She’s turning into a more macho version of Charlie Sheen, isn’t she?

“Jenny Craig”. Google it.

It doesn’t seem like she wants to come right out and say it, giving her a little plausible deniability later on. “What?. Moonbat, me. Never!”

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Ugly American on March 26, 2007 at 2:39 PM
Give her enough rope and she’ll hang herself, and blame Bush for her dismissal. Actually can’t you just her her saying she is ahead of her time and her truthiness was too much for the network to bear, etc. etc..
Theworldisnotenough on March 26, 2007 at 2:39 PM
Not that the ladies of The View have much cred to begin with, but this is sure to cause the ABC suits further embarrassment. After awhile, you just can’t keep up with the crackpot nonsense and have to cut your losses. Sure, she’ll scream censorship, but who really cares?
Not sure who fed her the Gulf of Tonkin info, but she should be reminded it was Democrat in office at the time.
JammieWearingFool on March 26, 2007 at 2:40 PM
What’s weird is they never remember which party put us in Vietnam.
Theworldisnotenough on March 26, 2007 at 2:40 PM
Hmm, Rosie seems to have a problem between make-believe and reality. Who woulda thunkit?
See, I think all the terrorists we have at Gitmo are made believe too. We are working with other powers, possibly extra-terrestrial in nature, to provide casus belli for a world war to usher in a new era of supermen. Let’s be honest, if there is a conspiracy to be had, NASA just has to be in on it.
Wineaholic on March 26, 2007 at 2:41 PM
Given the enemy and, well, the obvious, we can’t call her “Tokyo Rosie.” How about the “Tehran Titan?” Or the “Mullah Mama?” Or “Iran’s Idiot?” It is obvious that she looks at each conflict in the world, figures out who’s against the US, and then takes their side. It doesn’t matter who the other side is or what they’ve done or what they would do if they beat us. They get Rosie on their side, automatically.
Bryan on March 26, 2007 at 2:41 PM
Boooooooooooooosh
KelliD on March 26, 2007 at 2:41 PM
OK, my Do. Not. Click. On. Rosie. was over ridden by my intense interest in this subject.
So, Google on Gulf of Tonkin will make us all understand? Sorry Rosie, I googled on this a few days ago, I don’t see your point. The only similarity I see is the lack of defensive measures to protect our sailors. The fact that the Skipper of the Cornwall did not try to protect his sailors is a disgrace. He needs to go to the beach along with his intel weenies. And, the next time the Irainians try to sieze coalition sailors, they should be blown out of the water. In fact, blow up the Iranian Navy base. Free the Sailor 15!!!!!
Google that Rosie…
Babs on March 26, 2007 at 2:44 PM
No, don’t you remember… Vietnam as Nixion’s war. All those protesters were shouting at Nixon as much as the war itself, so it had to be his fault. I mean, protesters don’t get it wrong, eh?
Hmm, that situation seems familiar…

Tokyo Rosie strikes again.

Glenn Beck and Donald Trump say she’s fat. I think they’re mean, and hateful. Rosie’s just speaking her mind and standing up for what she thinks is right. People don’t consider how hard it must be for her as an outspoken and key leader of the politically correct, homosexual/feminist/liberal movement aimed at the undermining and ultimate destruction of her own country… give her a break. Who are we to judge her views?

So who do we need to write to in order to get Unstable Mabel off the air?
I’ll be happy to flood Babs Walter, and ABC upper management with hate mail if that is what it is going to take.
E L Frederick (Sniper One) on March 26, 2007 at 3:11 PM
Who cares what the mouth of the south shore thinks? The fat pig should be ignored. She knows this gets ratings and she keeps doing it.
madmonaco on March 26, 2007 at 3:12 PM
I so wish that idiocy would hurt. Have no idea how Barbara W. chooses to associate herself with this, at this age…more of a puzzle than this ignoramus maximus.

They were smart to put he gorgeous Elizabeth right next to her, otherwise, well, you know…
Malpaso on March 26, 2007 at 3:15 PM
It’s not her show anymore. It’s the Rosie View. Dissenting opinion is forbidden.
Kini on March 26, 2007 at 3:15 PM
I ask again: how many years or centuries will have to pass before every single war is not compared to Vietnam?
Wierd. You’d think the history, the geography, the politics, the military situation, the casualty figures, and a few million other variables would suggest to the clueless that there is no comparison to be made.
Just to throw people off, I’m gonna start calling it “The Peloponnesian War all over again …”
Sure there’s no comparison. But it’s no worse than comparing it to Vietnam. Plus, I’ll seem wicked smart.
Exit question: while I most adamantly am not suggesting censorship, I have to ask – is there ANY point at which someone like Rosie can jump from clueless dissent to panicked self-delusion and all the way to actionable treason?
I’m serious? Is there any point at which we can all agree she’s doing real harm to national security? Is there anything at all she can’t say?
Professor Blather on March 26, 2007 at 3:16 PM
Sure they do. Bring it up, and they’ll swear it was Eisenhower. Seriously. After all, he did send a few advisors in 1959.
So then you point out that by that logic, Bill Clinton arguably started the current conflict in Iraq (or for bonus points, just point out that Carter started the coming war in Iran ….) …. suddenly, their logic shifts.
But then, being able to shift your logic is what being a liberal is all about.
Professor Blather on March 26, 2007 at 3:19 PM
Barbara Walters thought bubble through out that clip: You sad.pathetic.woman.

New names for Rosie…
“Rosie the inquisitor”
“Fallible O’donnal”
“Rosie the enabler”
“Roseanne the Iman”
Wyrd on March 26, 2007 at 3:22 PM
No need to censor, but there should be some running commentary. Sort of like the options for some DVDs to get the director/actor/stagehand’s comments on the scene. Maybe a running ticker would be good. Whatever it is, have it present a logical refuting of Rosie’s point (and yes, that is a redundant phrase…). So people can get the other side.
What would be really great is if people could come onto the show. You know, to talk about these things and call Rosie out. If only “The View” were a talk-show of some sort… wait, it is? Oh yeah, I remember seeing Danny DeVito, James Brolin, and Tim Robbins on. When does Sean Penn get to visit?
Wineaholic on March 26, 2007 at 3:23 PM

There was some miscommunication that is considered to be how this thing got escalated, plus Johnson was inching for a fight. And all this I know without having “goggle it”

What got me is that she stated as if it were uncontrovertible fact that the UK sailors had strayed into Iranian waters. Not “The Iranians claim that…, but the British say….” She assumes that every word from Iran is the Gospel truth. Well, bad choice of words; if it literally were Gospel, she’d say it’s all a bunch of lies.
Elizabeth needs to call her on stuff like that, but she’s too damn nice to do it.

Actually, the boomer generation has been found to significantly have more “medical” problems. As the article by Gary Rotstein of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (via OC Register for me) wrote that “boomers indicate they have relatively more difficulty with a range of everyday physical tasks, but they also report having more pain, more chronic conditions, more drinking and psychiatric problems…” per the Soldo study. Hmmm…Rosie’s age anyone? This would account for her problems, not to mention all the gals on the view.
