Video: Hillary praises Bush at fundraiser; “he kept his word” on 9/11 funds
posted at 10:27 pm on March 26, 2007 by Ian
Sen. Hillary Clinton said she was “grateful” President Bush “kept his word” and provided 9/11 funding for New York. Clinton responded to a question from singer Barbara Streisand at a fundraiser in Hollywood on Saturday night. Transcript is below the video.
(video thanks to Breitbart)
BARBARA STREISAND: I’m scared of the microphone … Did New York ever get the money that was promised?
SEN. HILLARY CLINTON: Yes and you know this is one area that I really am grateful to the President for. I was at ground zero the afternoon of September the 12th with my colleague Chuck Schumer that some of you know … that night, the night of the 12th, the White House sent a request to the Congress for emergency funding to fix the Pentagon and to began to go after al Qeada and there wasn’t a single penny for New York. They asked for $20 billion but no money for New York. The next day, Chuck and I went to the White House and we met with the President and we basically said: “Mr. President, you can’t ask for money for the war we’re going to have to wage against these people who attacked us and to fix the Pentagon without asking for money without New York.” So, we asked for $20 billion and he said yes, and we had to work hard to keep it because there a lot of people in his administration and in the Congress who weren’t ready to give us that money. But, he kept his word, we did get the money. And I really appreciate that because it was a huge help for us to began rebuilding and put a lot of people’s lives back together.

What’s odd is that she went on and on about how Bush delivered, to an audience that didn’t want to hear it. Behind those closed doors she should have brushed over and then bashed him, and saved the honesty and civility for general election crowds. This was kind of weird.

Hell froze over and the Weather Channel never mentioned it. I’ll admit I tend to tune Shrillary out, but if that transcript is an indication of her effort to articulate a message, then I can see why Billy Jeff is noted for being a better communicator. Her half-strewn thoughts and run-on sentences explain a lot about her shifting political positions.

Repay Bush vehemently with hate for all the good work.
Then play the center. Babs has to be rolling da eyes.

Uhhh…yeah…Ian, I’m gonna have to go ahead and sort of disagree with you there. *sips coffee*
I’d read it as, if Hill takes the abusive shot at Bush, it’ll expose her to broadside from our side and maybe Obama sympathetic media, plus it would be so obviously false to say he didn’t do enough it would be very embarrassing.

I’m wondering if she’s beginning to feel a shift in perception. It could be that she’s getting unfiltered news (i.e., not through the MSM) and is reaching the conclusion that a) Iraq is going better than the Left is trying to portray it, and b) Iran is about to become a smoking ruin.
If she gets on the right side of history, she gets to watch the Democratic Party implode, and not get splashed with the gore. That leaves her standing alone come mid-2008, and able to take on whoever comes from the Republican ranks from a much stronger position.
Just musing. She’s nothing if not politically astute. Look who she married. That wasn’t for love. That was for 20-30 years down the line.

I love this…
I wish that were true with the additional fear of going out in public. What other phobia’s can we imagine Bab’s with? A fear of independent thought?

It doesn’t fit with their “global warming” message.
I’m starting to rethink my call on the ‘Rat primaries. She has just lost her street cred with the moonbats in front of them.

That makes sense. The Clintons are experts at this.

Same Hillary, same strategy……steer the boat down the middle of the river and when ya get there park it on the left bank. Bill knows they need the Blue Dogs and the independents if they are going to win. The Lieberman election confirmed it.
In the end, if elected, she will treat Columbia just like the cheerleaders treated Carrie. In the mean time she will be a good ol Johnson democrat.

Heh – nah…she’s just a johnson.

This is the Roman Senate at it’s best. On the surface she is praising Bush, but she is really praising the fact that Bush did what she told him to do. It was her idea and her project.

I don’t find anything strange about this at all. Hillary is really only giving herself a pat on the back. It is because of her (doncha know), that NY received money from the feds.
Still no jobs in upstate, though.

…”for the war we are going to have to wage against these people who attacked us…”
She said that.
Tru2my2 on March 26, 2007 at 11:24 PM
Oh, come on… What really happened here is that in a closed door fundraiser where everyone was bashing the Bush administration up one side and down the other, Hillary said, “But if I’m going to get elected, I have to appear reasonable to the right wing nuts. Play along with me for a minute while I stage this little segment that we’re gonna leak on the internet.”
No? OK, but it makes more sense than believing she is sincere… about… anything!
“Sincerity. Once you can fake that, you’ve got it made!”

Hillary/Rosie……… ’08!

Must be, or Babs would have scratched Hillary’s eyes out for saying something good about the anti-Christ.

Too bad she’s not afraid of keyboards, because she sure as hell can’t type for $h!t.

Polishing her non-partisan credentials, take that Barack.
Theworldisnotenough on March 27, 2007 at 12:49 AM
I heard her speak once on C-Span, at some political event – my ears are still aching. She (Barbra) can’t formulate a sentence for nada.
I almost expected this audience to await Hillary saying that it was Mr. Bush’s fault that those people are sick now…notice how they only attempted to clap at the mentio of Mr. Schumer; then right away Hillary talked about Mr. Bush and they abruptly quit clapping.
Heh, all for not – so much money, so much nothingness in one room, so many wasted smarts – screwed up idealism!
Entelechy on March 27, 2007 at 12:56 AM
Half of the 20 billion ended up in someone’s pocket. Rest assured of that.
jaleach on March 27, 2007 at 1:36 AM
What is taking longer, the war on terror, or the rebuilding of the Twin Towers Memorial, after all the politically correct factions add their two cents………..
Maybe they should defund the project, Mz. Pelosi, or start a commission on where all the money has gone????????
PinkyBigglesworth on March 27, 2007 at 2:38 AM
Hmmh, I find it interesting that she would be greatful to the President for anything to be honest, I am actually surprised. Maybe she’s triangulating for the general election? As for Babs-ick why doesn’t she just go back and suck face with Dr. Kiley(know I’m showing my age).

When the issue is September 11th its better not to bash Bush.
aengus on March 27, 2007 at 1:24 PM
So Hillary is trying to make herself a hero of 9/11. And the liberals complain that Bush uses 9/11 to advance himself and his supporters! I wonder if any liberals will speak truth to Clinton’s power and call her on this?
