Hello? Guess this thread is pretty much dead. Just bouncing around the threads; this one ended at a total of 14 nine hours ago. Personally, I got to say I’m disappointed. A subject such as this gets 14 comments, yet anything some jackass like Rosie O’Donnell says — especially Rosie O’Donnell — is guaranteed to get over a hundred. Pretty much sums things up as far as the American state of affairs goes, doesn’t it?

Using kids to retrieve weapons/ammo or as a human shield are tactics used by the Somali militia in the early 90’s. This is not new.

how brave of them

-on a more serious note: I would say that I’m disgusted with using children as ways to get pass checkpoints and to pick up weapons, but given it’s (how do I say this without seeming callous)… regularity, it’s just another day in Iraq. For me to be disgusted with barbaric behavior such as that described by the US officials in the article, it would have to come as a surprise… know what I mean?

I’m sure if I were there witnessing such acts it would disturb me a great deal. but reading about it and knowing there really isn’t a way to change the type of enemies we face or change the minds of those anti-war protestors, I feel more or less withdrawn from the whole “oh my God, how could they do that”, routine.

I guess I’m one ‘disgusting’ story away from adopting the ‘kill em all’ mentality. becuase everytime I think of the situation in Iraq or in the war on terror that line from Syriana always jumps to mind:

They think that a hundred years ago you were living in tents out here in the desert chopping each other’s heads off and that’s where you’ll be in another hundred years

What’s so difficult, Phil Byler,is that to acknowledge such things would mean that they would have to do something about it . So much easier to rail on and on about “atrocities” at Gitmo and Abu Ghraib.

Didn’t the anti-war protestors in portland suggest using diabled people to fight in the army? Seems like their buddies already had the idea or got it from them or if the protestors took it from them, not sure which way it happened.
