Protests?!? I thought that was a Portland City Council meeting.

AndrewsDad on March 24, 2007 at 1:42 PM

Uh, do they have a fire permit? Where are the police?

Benny on March 24, 2007 at 1:46 PM

Get back to class children.

maintenanceman on March 24, 2007 at 1:53 PM

Nice how they made sure to cover their faces.

As angery as this makes me, I think the worst part was their horrible lack of rhythm.

SnakeintheGrass on March 24, 2007 at 1:55 PM

aware that they might be exposed by this display, a second type of millitant interjects with her own sort of insult against the troops:

“what about the troops who are brainwashed?”

jummy on March 24, 2007 at 1:56 PM

I’ve seen enough. I think we know who the real fascists are.

John on March 24, 2007 at 1:57 PM

Way to go Portland. Fair or not. This is becoming your reputation. Perception becomes “reality”. I’d like to say I’m shocked. Sadly No.

Buck Turgidson on March 24, 2007 at 1:58 PM

“Listen, son, said the man with the gun, there’s room for you inside.”

Gottafang on March 24, 2007 at 2:00 PM

Can we question their loyalty NOW?

Mortis on March 24, 2007 at 2:00 PM

If the soldiers are innocent, “brainwashed” fools then why do these things want to burn them alive? If they can call us fascists then can I at least be able to say I want these people stripped of their American citizenship and dropped off on the other side of our border? Dissent is patriotic; yeah, right. Our founders didn’t “dissent” against the King of England out of patriotism toward the king, it was to break away from the king. That was exactly the opposite of patriotism to the government of England. “If this be treason make the most of it.” Those weren’t the words of patriotism toward England.

Kevin R on March 24, 2007 at 2:05 PM

Looks like dissent really is the highest form of patriotism.

The highest form of patriotism is the troops NOT walking out into the streets looking for their ‘friends’.

Limerick on March 24, 2007 at 2:06 PM

Great the brain dead calling others brain washed.

Jealous they have a brain are we ?

William Amos on March 24, 2007 at 2:11 PM

These clowns are not patriots, they are not even Americans. They are the results of 12+ years of public school brainwashing. It always amazes me how these traitors like to hide behind the masks, and do these “activities” when they are only with like minded traitors. Let’s see them do this in a dark alley with a couple Seals on hand. They’d wet their pants and run home to mommy.
One other note, the traitors always call us fascists, but you never see them picking up stakes and moving to a truly fascist country. I am sure cuba, north korea, iran would love to have you and let you protest. Please go, Americans would happily donate to send you on your way after you surrender your citizenship.

still468 on March 24, 2007 at 2:13 PM

I think of the mothers and families of the brave and noble solidiers, so far from home, who have to see this and cope….it breaks my heart.

Tru2my2 on March 24, 2007 at 2:13 PM

Those damned Anarchists, wanna destroy government but can’t make a lighter work, pathetic

Defector01 on March 24, 2007 at 2:13 PM

What you don’t hear (boos, condemnation, etc.) is more interesting in some ways as the chants (“Build a bone fire. Build a bone fire. Put the soldiers on the top. Put the Fascists in the middle and we’ll burn the F’in lot” and ” “Bye, bye GI. In Iraq you’re gonna die”) you do hear.

In a related story from the Portland demonstration:
Perhaps the most disturbing scene of the afternoon, however, involved the man who pulled down his pants in front of women and children and defecated on a burning U.S. flag. This disgusting act actually elicited cheers from some members of the crowd, but we hope that the emotion it produces in the community is one of revulsion.

TheBigOldDog on March 24, 2007 at 2:15 PM

There’s a difference between dissent with your government’s policies and complete contempt and utter disdain for your country.

So………….uh…………burning soldiers is the highest form of patriotism then?

Got it!

AP would ban me if I posted what I really want to say.

Retroactive abortion.

spmat on March 24, 2007 at 2:33 PM

But … if we burn the Troops … or they all die in Iraq … then who’s gonna defend your freedom to burn paper soldiers?

Stupid, Che t-shirt wearin, living at home with mommy losers. GET A FRIGGIN’ JOB!

They should be rounded up and sent off to a gulag. Isn’t what they think America’s all about? We wouldn’t want them to be wrong, would we? That might hurt their feeeeeeeelings!

These morons don’t make any sense, if America was a fascist country, wouldn’t they … like … DEAD?

Tony737 on March 24, 2007 at 2:34 PM

Sick.

Connie on March 24, 2007 at 2:51 PM

Portland. The home of sewage collection

Remind me to bring lots of ammo if we ever go to Portland.

Sick commie pigs

Texyank on March 24, 2007 at 2:54 PM

Err…..if I ever go to Portland.

Texyank on March 24, 2007 at 2:55 PM

The rub is that the men in women in uniform doing to ‘killin’ are helping to create peace while the ‘peace’-tards here are helping to create more war.

Yep it is the twilight zone.

Limerick on March 24, 2007 at 2:57 PM

Vietnam protestor tactics. This should get the Bikers roll’n mad! Yeah Alan Colmes here is your fringe outskirts of liberalism!

Are they saying “put down your ballot pick up your gun.”?

Drtuddle on March 24, 2007 at 3:00 PM

I believe it was MM who said the idiot leftists were shocked by the number of people who showed up for the gathering of Eagles. The best way to mess with their minds is to show up at their marchs and peacefully protest against them.

I think there are a lot of students in the crowd who just show up for the show and who can be shamed into leaving if they knew they could be identified hanging out with the cretins.

Bill C on March 24, 2007 at 3:11 PM

Keep up the good work AP. Let the world see this.

budorob on March 24, 2007 at 3:14 PM

It is very hard to watch that and not be enraged. Those people are misguided, lost souls. Pray for them.

Zorro on March 24, 2007 at 3:21 PM

I made myself watch that all the way through, just for the sake of knowing my enemy. But now I feel like counterprotesting with a squad-sized element and fixed bayonets. Scum like that are too dumb to realize that they’re on the verge of starting a fight they can’t finish.

ReubenJCogburn on March 24, 2007 at 3:30 PM

These kids look more and more every day like the SA, before the fall of the Weimar Republic.

Verbal Abuse on March 24, 2007 at 3:31 PM

Am I the only one that thinks these activities justify a severe beating for each of these douches? I can’t believe people are just standing there watching, I don’t think I’d have been able to avoid pounding on a couple of these people… Maybe it’s just me.

RightWinged on March 24, 2007 at 3:46 PM

Should I hold my breath?

georgej on March 24, 2007 at 3:56 PM

I can’t believe people are just standing there watching

That’s the key. Watching. Not condemning. Not chastising. Not booing. Watching. Taking pictures.

TheBigOldDog on March 24, 2007 at 3:57 PM

Portland does this all the time. When I was in college, I would sometimes eat at the McDonalds by campus and people would stand outside the windows with signs depecting slaughtered cows.

I love how their message is so important, but they wore masks, ha ha.

Spassvogel on March 24, 2007 at 4:08 PM

I believe it was MM who said the idiot leftists were shocked by the number of people who showed up for the gathering of Eagles. The best way to mess with their minds is to show up at their marchs and peacefully protest against them.

Peacefully protest against that?

There are any number of ways in which I might counter-protest a disgusting, revolting display of subhuman behavior like the one in that video, but “peaceful” ain’t one of them.

Which is why I deliberately stay away from Moonbat gatherings like that. Blood and torn bits of flesh are hell to get off your clothes.

Misha I on March 24, 2007 at 4:10 PM

I bet their mother’s sure are proud of them. What mother wouldn’t be proud to see their “brave” children burning the very thing that gives them the freedom to burn paper.

SPIFF1669 on March 24, 2007 at 4:43 PM

these are the same punks you see everyday in portland. Their either shooting up in the parks or begging for money on the streets. liberal portland is creating a new generation of America hating junkie bums.

Locrian on March 24, 2007 at 4:52 PM

“I’ve seen enough. I think we know who the real fascists are.”

And they are Democrats.

You think maybe? I have had my disagreements with the GOP establishment here and there. But these morons in Portland, the ones who trashed the recruiting office in Milwaukee, the Nutroots, Pelosi & Co., etc. remind me every day why I am a Republican and not a Democrat. This is just sick.

This is not dissent. Dissent is when you peaceably object to something based on reason and you truly beleive that your position is in the best interest of the country. Rational dissent and fact-based debate are often good things.

But these people aren’t dissenters, they’re nothing more than America-hating spoiled brat terrorist wannabe’s. And somehow, they’re too stupid to see that the real terrorists would just as willingly kill them as they would any member of the US Military, or any American at all. Unbelievable.

I blame public education and derelict parenting.

But as ugly as all this, my advice to the moonbat hordes would be to keep it up. Let everyone in the country get a good look at who these people really are before 2008, not after.

John on March 24, 2007 at 5:06 PM

I am glad I didn’t see this here in Seattle. I just don’t want to go to jail as I surly would have had I seen this happening.

Gwillie on March 24, 2007 at 5:13 PM

Excellent job in teaching, Ward Churchill, your message and lesson plan seems to have been flawless……. Keep up the good work!

The Ugly American on March 24, 2007 at 5:53 PM

My brother lives in Portland. I talked to him last night, before I saw this video. He is apolitical, but I told him I knew Portland, in fact Oregon in general, was extremely liberal. He told me about some of the people there. Said they are trying to pass a law to allow people to take their dogs into restaurants with them. I told him I would like to visit. After seeing this, I changed my mind. There aren’t any words to describe it, but sadly, and I do mean sadlyI am not surprised. I am sure the drug content of these people was pretty high. What kind of person takes down their pants and poops in public, let alone on the American flag? I think they should let the dogs in the restaurants and keep the owners out.

Glynn on March 24, 2007 at 6:30 PM

What country do these people want to live in? These are sick sick people… Shame on them.

d1carter on March 24, 2007 at 7:04 PM

It is upsetting that soldiers have died to protect the freedom of these idiots.

jman on March 24, 2007 at 7:14 PM

Give the Demos some credit, the only one who might’ve been one was the girl at the end arguing against them but doing so by using John Kerry talking points

Nevertheless, nothing like masked blackshirts calling other people ‘facists’..

Yes, unfortunately we have to be non-violent. Otherwise the MSM will cover our violence against the poor “wittle children who are just speaking their minds.” It isn’t fair but its true.

America hating junkie bums.

Locrian on March 24, 2007 at 4:52 PM

America-hating spoiled brat terrorist wannabe’s.

John on March 24, 2007 at 5:06 PM

They’re both so good. Hard to choose because they are apt.

Bill C on March 24, 2007 at 8:03 PM

I’m not at all surprised. I’ve been saying for a long time that these people are the enemy just as the Barbarians. Unfortunately, we can’t return fire because they are American Citizens.

Someone called for stripping them of their citizenship. Nah…that’s too much work and it gives them a level of credibility that disgusts me. If we, the “imperialist pigs”, were to stage a demonstration and burn a paper hippie in effigy we would see our 15 minutes of fame on every legacy media outlet around the world. These people are generally ignored because that same legacy media, while in general agreement with both sentiment and activity, understands they aren’t worth their time.

Pilgrim on March 24, 2007 at 8:03 PM

A gathering of anarchists?

Isn’t that a contradiction in terms?

An oxy of morons, pehaps?

I was hoping that the doofus with the lighter fluid would do a Palestinian Jihadi and accidentally set his arm on fire.

This street theater is about as “daring” as kicking your own tame guard dog.

(Who you know won’t bite you.)

But one day they’ll push the dog’s instincts too far.

profitsbeard on March 24, 2007 at 8:23 PM

Yes, unfortunately we have to be non-violent. Otherwise the MSM will cover our violence against the poor “wittle children who are just speaking their minds.” It isn’t fair but its true.

You’re right, Bill, which is yet another reason why I deliberately avoid the Moonbats and their street theatre.

Not to mention the third reason, which is that, having watched footage of this and numerous other similar displays (remember the classic “we support the troops when they shoot their officers”?) of “dissent”, I’d enjoy gutting them from the navel to the sternum and ripping their still steaming guts out of their abdominal cavities entirely too much.

And that can’t possibly be good for the soul.

Hopefully, one of these days they’ll mess up with the flammable liquids and set fire to themselves.

I’ll try not to laugh as they scream and their burning flesh drops off their bones. I’ll try, but I’m not promising anything.

Misha I on March 24, 2007 at 9:05 PM

the single most precious quote from the pertinent dkos thread:

What seems strange to me is that IF this burning took place. Why is there nothing in the local media. As an Oregonian I find it hard to believe that IF such a thing actually happened that the local media would totaly ignore it.

jummy on March 24, 2007 at 9:28 PM

Can you say over permissive society, lack of discipline or how about kids rights above right and wrong, the parents are responsible but they are not allowed to control the kids and neither are anybody else? Then this behavior should be no big surprise.

Now Johnnie you know it’s not nice to hit Daddy with that baseball bat…Thock hahaha thassth funny…now Johnnie…

The Milwaukee Urinal Sentinel, the local rag, never ran a story the first day after the recruiting station was attacked. They ran a minimal story the second day, and the third day, no follow-up, but they did have an editorial cartoon suggesting the media was covering the story too much.

….they also had an editorial…something about the frustration level of those doing the attacking.

Lame.

Does anyone wonder why I support secession of Red State America?

Tim Burton on March 25, 2007 at 3:11 AM

What a bunch of morons!!

slapnuts on March 25, 2007 at 12:06 PM

I wonder if these jerks bought carbon offsets before their protest?

As a former member of the military I’d like to say that I would defend these people’s right to make fools of themselves in public unto my death. I may not like the idea of chanting death to members of the military, but I support their right to do so. This is no different from what I heard back in the 80′s when the military was, then as now, referred to murders bent on global domination. I wish we WERE bent on global domination back then, for if we dominated the world things like wars would be something you read about in history books, not in daily newspapers.

These idiots seem to forget that it is the military that protects the Constitution and America. It is not the police, it is not the courts, it is not the politicians, and it sure as hell is not a bunch of protesters that protects us, it is the military that protects and defends the Constitution and this country. When you demean the military, you demean the very people who protect you and your rights. Just how hard is that to understand?

RedinBlueCounty on March 25, 2007 at 1:59 PM

When I was in the military, I can’t remember one time that we burned a political protester in effigy. Hmm.

Mojave Mark on March 26, 2007 at 1:07 AM

I didn’t watch the video, don’t need to. The song is sung to often.

These are not the radical fringe of the Democratic party, they are becoming the mainstream.

Witness the destruction of our monuments, the breaking in to victimes homes, the stifling of speech on college campuses, the spitting, taughting, flag burning, defcating, effigy burning, debate dodging, moveon.org driven.

Too many to become fringe, and the Dems who claim they are an extreme element have their head in the sand. Go on the liberal blogs, you won’t see any proclamation of disgust.

This is the developing Democratic party. Embrace it, this is where your money is going, and lood who your money is merged with. Do you think these organizers use their own pocket money? Better read a little David Horowitz and learn how a “fringe” element is financed.

right2bright on March 26, 2007 at 10:17 AM

I am ashamed to say that Portland is a collective pile of $hit! For the protestors here it’s their way of life. They protest that there is nothing to protest when there is nothing to protest!
I live here in Portland, but I am not defending them. I have a distaste for the liberal views here.

I would LOVE to see some hardened pissed off troops returning home catch these pu**y punks in the park one night when the police won’t protect these protestor types.

I salute you all, seriously, for standing up for the troops in your comments!
