...Oh, yeah, and my son learned that all animals fart--ON THE INTERNET! That means it is undeniable. Congress accepts "it's on the internet" as incontrovertible proof. So the debate is over.

This isn’t over yet… my vet said not to feed our guinea pig too much lettuce because guinea pigs can’t fart.

Is your son prepared to testify on Capitol Hill? I need scientific consensus!

You're nothing but an ill-informed flatulence skeptic! My son is ready and willing to watch a guinea pig's behind all day long for evidence of farting! He's certain it will happen. His research and resulting "all animals fart" thesis took 2.5 entire hours to formulate! You cannot deny the conclusion just because one skeptical vet said otherwise! Unbeliever!!!

LOL!

Sure that’s not goslings?

Let’s see if any of you nerds will admit you get that….

That was the best Hamnation ever. I love the cheesy music, you got the cheesy 50’s educational video down good, just needed negative scratches on the film and it woulda been perfect.

I never thought I would see a Firefly quote on this site. That was probably my favorite episode, actually. What? I'm a nerd, I have no shame about it.

Anyway, I agree on all counts. I liked it a lot. The fifties PSA feel reminded me a lot of the intro to Fallout and especially Fallout 2, but that's neither here nor there. As others have said, the true greatness of it was launching that sweet little kitty cat out into the yard.

Great job MKH, I can't wait to see how you're going to top this.

That segment was a great educational presentation that should be played in elementary schools around the country.

It nearly brought a tear to my eyes watching the touching moment at the end where the cat is set free to enjoy and mingle with the wild - mainly the soil. You might call it an environmental impact statement.

I also understood the deeper meaning of the cat richochetting off the tree branch which shows we must be concerned for our forests and those creatures which dwell under the branches in the forest

I have to admit there is simply something mysteriously attractive about a gal like MKH throwning a cat from a balcony - its hard to explain. It's similar to seeing a young woman in the auto parts store buying car parts - guys are simply amazed, smitten and defenseless. This world would be a happier place if more women would throw cats from the balcony.

So, keep up the good work MJH, but please be careful in pushing guys' buttons - we are just too vulnerable.

Another Beatles story. I was in a Peaches Records in Richmond in 1985 standing next to two Madonna dress-alikes. One of them had a Beatles album (yes, they still sold them back then) in her hand and the other girl asked who THEY were. “Oh, that was Paul McCartney’s first band,” she replied. I felt very old at that moment.

Now this so closely mirrors my own first "feeling old" moment that it's spooky.

Summer, 1985. I'm in the checkout line at a music store in a mall in Fayetteville, NC. A couple of high school kids are going through the bargain bin of cassettes behind me. The girl pipes up, "Bread? I don't think I've ever heard of these guys."

(Pause.)

"No, wait! I think my dad has one of their records."

MKH, you make such an utterly adorable little greenie do-gooder! Your expressions are priceless. A century ago, you could have made it in silent comedies.

And kudos, too, to the valiant stunt bunny. I'm so glad I wasn't drinking anything during that scene.

I'm with Allah: Best. HamNation. Ever.

Absolutely superb, Mary Katharine!

More Cat Haiku

All that a Cat sees
belongs to either he or
she! Don't you get it?

Cats are never fat!
They just arrange themselves in
slim, fetching poses.

Waiting patiently
by a hole for my prey. It's
got to breathe sometime!

A Kitten up a
tree soon learns that "Up" is much
easier than "Down"

A basket of fresh
warm Laundry beckons. Leap up.
Sink down in the folds.

A weightless ball of
fluff. Wrapped in soft silky fur
and soft gentle purrs

Dear Ms Ham,

Over the years I have planted over 5000 trees on my property, thus acruing their accumulated carbon offsets. As a sign of the high regard that I hold you in, be advised that I am prepared to authorize a transfer of the carbon offsets for 100 of them to you, without conditions, in order for you to (1) retain ownership and use of your Hummer, (2) retain the use of your incandescent light bulbs in lieu of dim florescent ones, (3) retain FAA flight certification of your kitty, and (4) retain the use and possession of your father's vintange, pre-1975 vinyl records, which were manufactured out of irreplaceable oil by-products by the greedy, capitalist record companies.

Please advise if this is acceptable to you.

With respect,

Georgej

PS -- note to rivlax. My oldest daughter (now 24) once asked me if it were true that Paul McCartney was in band before Wings. [sigh!]

As a sign of the high regard that I hold you in, be advised that I am prepared to authorize a transfer of the carbon offsets for 100 of them to you, without conditions, in order for you to (1) retain ownership and use of your Hummer, (2) retain the use of your incandescent light bulbs in lieu of dim florescent ones, (3) retain FAA flight certification of your kitty, and (4) retain the use and possession of your father’s vintange, pre-1975 vinyl records, which were manufactured out of irreplaceable oil by-products by the greedy, capitalist record companies.

Please advise if this is acceptable to you.

With respect,

Georgej

PS — note to rivlax. My oldest daughter (now 24) once asked me if it were true that Paul McCartney was in band before Wings. [sigh!]

Evidently you missed the news about how much Google paid for YouTube… and how much Newscorp paid for MySpace…
TheBigOldDog on March 23, 2007 at 2:39 PM

Yeah, I also missed the memo about how Karl Rove and Dick Cheney are the right-wing money geniuses behind Google. And where was the press release about how all of the founders and original investors of InterMix (the parent company of MySpace) were members in good standing of the John Birch Society?

Please!

Stop denying the facts and admit investors that identify themselves as political conservatives don't spend money on new media technologies. Then support HotAir Network, LLC and other conservatives that have the--yes, I'll type it--BALLS to put their own money behind new technology and make it work!

Darn modems, I wish I could watch it. That said, Google buying Youtube is nothing--Google's about as liberal as they get. I actually use altavista instead, not that it matters much. Not sure about NewsCorp--isn't that Rupert Murdochs outfit?

I have a cat--how offended will I be if I invest the 45 minutes required to load this vid? :D

What if we, like, fed all of those farting cows and cats to the drowning polar bears? Do bears fart? saint kansas on March 23, 2007 at 12:26 PM

My ten-year-old son recently did some independent research on this very topic (well, a similar topic--he wanted to know if fish fart). He discovered that, if a creature eats, it farts. Period. He watched our fish for an hour before being rewarded with some bubbles rising from the back end. Thesis confirmed! Though the topic did not appeal to me, I was proud of his independent information gathering skills. ;-)

Regarding the video--Great job, MKH! I really, really liked this one. The voice was perfect, as was your acting. Kudos, and keep up the good work!
