…by Conan O’Brien. Second time today I got you.

At the risk of spoiling the surprise, let me say that there may be evidence of anti-Bush sentiment here. Fully redeemed, however, by his inspired casting choices, particularly as regards Pat Leahy and Harriet Miers.

No Joe Wilson, though. How about Harvey Keitel? I’ve always disliked him, but his “charismatic bad-ass” quotient might be a tad too high.

Blowback

Second time today I got you.

Are you angry at us?

Unfortunately it’s a few decades late to be casting Louise Fletcher, but she’d have been perfect to play Valerie Plame-Wilson-Ratched.

No f—ing way. If Joe Wilson even dreams of being played by Harvey Keitel, he better wake up and apologize.

ReubenJCogburn on March 22, 2007 at 3:40 PM

Eh, you didn’t really get me that time Allah.

That said, it was pretty good. Any Statler & Waldorf reference gets bonus points. I thought the choice to play Chuck Schumer was good.

Bad Candy on March 22, 2007 at 3:43 PM

What happens when the movie goes unnoticed? It’ll win an Emmy of course and an acceptance speech consisting of Rovian theories, speaking truth to power, etc..

Theworldisnotenough on March 22, 2007 at 3:43 PM

Thanks for posting the late-night stuff that comes on after bedtime.

The BDS detector didn’t go off on this one as it hit both sides pretty evenly.

Frank Stallone should play Wilson as he is also a famous recipient of nepotism.

Valiant on March 22, 2007 at 3:44 PM

Shoot I’m missing something. Darn filters.

Theworldisnotenough on March 22, 2007 at 3:44 PM

No…there is only one man who can play Joseph Wilson.

Quite a resemblance, I think.

Slublog on March 22, 2007 at 3:45 PM

and both score a perfect 10 on the ick-o-meter.

KelliD on March 22, 2007 at 3:51 PM

The guy that plays the PC in the Mac vs. PC ads would be perfect for Joe Wilson. All he needs is a long feathered wig from about 1983.

ReubenJCogburn on March 22, 2007 at 4:01 PM

These are usually hilarious, but I do have to say this wasn’t one of Conan’s best.

That said, I’d still like to say David Spade should be up for the part of Valerie Plame.

RightWinged on March 22, 2007 at 4:05 PM

Grandpa Munster was the best!!!

SCGOPgirl on March 22, 2007 at 4:08 PM

I like Conan. He takes shots at both sides of the aisle, as equally as you can in the media.

amerpundit on March 22, 2007 at 4:32 PM

…Harvey Keitel? I’ve always disliked him….

What?!

liquidflorian on March 22, 2007 at 4:37 PM

Too late. They’ve already shot the trailer for “Plamegate!” The hair’s just about right for Joe.

see-dubya on March 22, 2007 at 4:48 PM

My favorite Conan bit has always been the Walker, Texas Ranger random clip lever.

amerpundit on March 22, 2007 at 4:32 PM

Not true. None of them are fair, but Leno is the most fair. I like Conan, and he’s the only one I watch with regularity, but he’s a definite big time lefty and it shows all the time. Like with SNL, the Daily Show, etc. they may on rare occassion mock Dems, but it’s usually superficial stuff (looks, personality, other personal stuff), they mock Bush and Republicans on policy, but dishonestly to roaring audiences who think that the jokes they’re hearing are as good as learning what’s going on in the news.

RightWinged on March 22, 2007 at 5:00 PM

It is either my age or my sexual orientation but I just don’t get Conan. Every time I watch I just wanna get out the Louisville Slugger and go after the dogs. Poor dogs.

He reminds of the the kid in the grocery store crying on the floor. Look out kid, cart coming thru.

Limerick on March 22, 2007 at 5:04 PM

Of course he didn’t make fun of Plame herself, he’s just one more liberal POS on a network already full of them.

forged rite on March 22, 2007 at 5:11 PM

From that mugshot of the blonde Ms. Plame, I’d suggest casting her in “Roots.”

saint kansas on March 22, 2007 at 5:18 PM

I think all of you guys are looking at this the wrong way. Given how this whole thing played out, and how the democrats normally do business with one another, this movie would be better serviced (pun intended) by being made in the adult movie genre. Look to fill casting positions with adult actors.

austinnelly on March 22, 2007 at 6:29 PM

Thanks, I needed a decent laugh today. Heh, Jackie Mason.

vcferlita on March 22, 2007 at 6:40 PM

Slublog, that was perfect.

Richard Gere is a lock for the Joe Wilson role. He’s got the look, he’s got the politics, he’s got the faux gravitas. Hell, he’d barely have to act!

Pablo on March 23, 2007 at 2:13 AM

My wife and I have thought that Conan O’Brien is the true aire to the Tonight Show, not Jay Leno.

Conan O’Brien, like Johnny Carson, has that wit, that self depracating humor, and that ability to be humorous without being grating and annoying as David Letterman, for example, is.

Frankly, I find Conan O’Brien to be more like Johnny Carson, who is one of my all time favorites, than anyone else hosting a talk-entertainment show.

Regarding having Jaba the Hutt play the part of Karl Rove, I disagree with the choice. Perhaps Jack Nickolson would be a better choice.

Also, rather than have Rosie O’Donnel play George W. Bush, I think that Tony Shalub would be a much better choice to play George W. Bush.

Make that I think that Conan O’brien is the true heir in line with Johnny Carson to the Tonight Show, not Jay Leno.

That’s a pretty good choice, Pablo!

I picture Ron Silver as well, although he supports George W. Bush in the war against Muslim Jihadis, AKA, the errantly titled “War on Terror.”

How about Dustin Hoffman?
