Video: Michelle on the Portland protesters’ troop effigy

posted at 10:39 pm on March 21, 2007 by Allahpundit

Delightful photos of these patriotic patriots patriotically torching a dummy in cammies are available at LGF. I wonder if Hannity forced this topic on Colmes or if Colmesy himself got so nervous when he saw the pics that he felt a little televised damage control was in order.

The former, I’m sure.

Too bad that the boss doesn’t seem to get along so well here with Jane Fleming, who I’ve come to dig from her appearances on “Red Eye” and her general usual reasonableness. Dare I say it, she’s nearly supplanted KP as my Fox News Democrat of choice. A word to the wise, though: lose the smirk. You can’t win the big A’s heart wielding all that ‘tude, Jane.

fleming3.jpg

Update: In my haste to get this uploaded, I forgot to note Fleming’s “BUSH LIED!” shinola. That’s out of character for her … I hope. Or maybe it isn’t and the Foxies who’ve interviewed her in the past just haven’t asked the right questions to draw her inner nutroot out. Pity.

I love Colmes and the classic lefty tactic: “Here’s what I’ve decided your position is, and exactly what you think and feel. Now explain it.”

Way to burst his balloon, Michelle.

Well, I don’t not like it.

Ms. Flemming needs to Google “Clinton Iraq 1998.” Her “Bush lied about WMDs” line is nonsense that helps the enemy.

Bryan on March 21, 2007 at 10:51 PM

Wow,

Michelle was “very upset”, as she should be. (I would use stronger words but it may get me banned)

Did anyone ever answer the question as to where ANSWER etc were? I figured not.

Great job Michelle, one of your best IMO.

F15Mech on March 21, 2007 at 10:53 PM

Her “Bush lied about WMDs” line is nonsense that helps the enemy.

It was also an irrelevant dodge of the question posed to her.

Pablo on March 21, 2007 at 10:54 PM

Michelle looks like she could burn a hole through someone with that stare, but Hannit and MM make a good point: The dems do not condemn acts such as these nuts from Portland. None of them have ever apologized for what Durbin said, or for the things Kerry said. They are the party of no accountability.

BTW, she looks a bit like a brunette version of KP, so it’s no wonder Allah is smitten. Just as long as he’s reserving his affections for conservative women and moderate Democratic women. If he were to ever fall for a full-fledged moonbat, then we should definitely worry and call in the rescue squad …

SisterToldjah on March 21, 2007 at 10:58 PM

While we’re on the subject of educating Ms. Flemming, she’d do well to go read this. So would any liberal who has ever thought about marching alongside ANSWER. Scroll down to the section just below the “Worst Tyrants” pic. Soros funds parts of the anti-war movement, but apparently he gets an assist from outside the country.

Ms. Flemming needs to Google “Clinton Iraq 1998.” Her “Bush lied about WMDs” line is nonsense that helps the enemy.

Sadly, it wouldn’t matter. She, like so many others in the “Bush lied” camp, has likely said/heard it so many times that it’s just one of those ‘Accepted Truths’ that mustn’t be questioned, even in the face of massive amounts of contrary evidence.

SisterToldjah on March 21, 2007 at 11:03 PM

Allah, you are way off base on your assessment of Fleming. She is nothing but talking points and obnoxious rhetoric and sour attitude from what I’ve seen. Maybe she was better in this clip, I’ve still gotta watch.

The left doesn’t compare violent anti-abortion activists to the rest of the pro-life movement, Ms. Flemming? O RLY?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!!!!!! I can’t even believe she’s obnoxious enough to say that with a straight face. Liberals tie the two together all the time, on top of that, they make equivocations to the handful of abortion clinic bombings to radical Jihadists who blow up buildings and civilians on a daily basis.

Bad Candy on March 21, 2007 at 11:14 PM

JG2K6 on March 21, 2007 at 11:33 PM

Allah, you’re way off base on this one… Flemming is out there… And she’s very weak in her arguments. She usually comes off like some dumb high school kid who’s liberal teacher filled his head with a bunch of crap, and he never had to debate it with anyone until this very moment.

Do you not remember this?
http://hotair.com/archives/2007/02/14/video-dem-fleming-defends-bigoted-edwards-bloggers/

Flemming would have stood by Edwards’ loony lefty Christian hating bloggers, but admits she would have fired people who had said anti-black or anti-gay things in the past! She’s a far left nut.

And I agree, you’re being hypnotized by the cleveage… which I’ve got to say, I’m not all that impressed by. I won’t go any further than to say she could use a bra.

But seriously, she comes off like a snotty little know it all, who clearly knows very little and on her best day is able to repeat Democratic Party talking points, but usually fumbles and is quite pathetic I must say. If I were KP, I’d be angry to have been thought of in the same light. KP, while almost always wrong, is MUCH more intelligent than this woman.

(And I’m quite sure the “Bush lied on WMDs” is something she regularly tries to pull)

She was just behaving for a bit around Michelle hopin’ to get KP’s regular spot or she is scared of MM. But you did notice on second play I guess, she got in her leftie-blurt. Bad Candy on March 21, 2007 at 11:50 PM

The left should be equated with those who are trashing recruiting stations, or burning soldiers in effigy.

Allah, I sent you an email about this….

If you would like to see how one small town in America not only treats its veterans still serving, but honors those who have died, check out:

In that town, there are Democrats as well as Republicans who support the troops side by side, and none of them would make excuses for the nitwit protesters.

I agree! Hannity is such a dim bulb that it should be a crime against humanity that he is able to have a radio show and influence millions of people everyday.

I’ll miss Rush Limbaugh when he retires. At least he makes arguments. I seriously doubt if Hannity ever seriously considered an argument from the other side after his embarrassing verbal assault of the Catholic priest a week or so ago.

bert169 on March 21, 2007 at 11:53 PM

Bert, I utimately agreed with Hannity’s position on the priest deal in spite of his clumsy argument, but your larger point is dead on.

My gripe with Hannity is that we could literally pick nearly any knucklehead off of Hotair, and they could easily outperform Hannity in articulating conservative argument and philosophy, probably without doing any extra homework or polish.

Therein lies my frustration with Hannity.

Yeah…I’m gonna have to go ahead and-uh…disagree with you there *sips coffee*.

Look, you’re right that he offers a counter to the left, but we can do a hell of a lot better is what I’m saying. Look, there’s being repetitive with certain themes and ideas. I can point to Rush and say look, he repeats a lot of what he says, but it sounds unique every time he says it. Not so with Sean. I think you could easily remove Sean, and set up a monkey with a soundboard with various Hannity phrases and speeches. Observe:

[Liberal name here] don’t you think its wrong that the Democrat leadership day in and day out call this president a liar, while troops are in harms way, you have John Kerry saying that our troops terrorize innocent civilians in the dark of night, Harry Reid calling him a loser in front of high school students, Ted (*hic* if on radio) Kennedy saying the war was concocted in Crawford, Dennis Kuciinich saying that the president is targeting civilians for assassination, Dick Durbin comparing our troops to Nazis and Pol Pot. Day in and day out he’s called a liar, and compared to Hitler Will you denounce what your leadership has said, [liberal name here] or (sometimes add a snide Mr./Mrs./Ms. Liberal?)

See.

Fleming had a falacious analogy. She compared the burning of the soldier effigy (to the left) to the anti-abortion protesters who shoot doctors (to the right). She was trying to make a point that they were both fringe elements that do not represent the main elements of their side. However, pro-lifers condemned the shooting of abortion doctors. The leaders on the left do not condemn the effigy burnings. As Hannity pointed out, the leading Donks are making inflammatory statements themselves.

Other than that, I was having a problem looking Fleming in the eye. Something, or somethings, were distracting me……

Mallard T. Drake on March 22, 2007 at 1:18 AM

Now note, I can add or subtract different parts on that as he has a few slight variations. But you all know full well its pathetic that I can literally punch out a perfect parody that quickly. I’m not saying that he’s wrong, I’m just saying he’s either dumb, lazy or a combination thereof.

All I’m asking is that he retire that bit. I’m so sick of it. If he swore he’d never use it again, I might be more tolerant. Even if he used the same argument and put in all new crummy seditious things libs said, it would be a huge improvement. Its not like there isn’t much in treasonous liberal behavior floating around for him to site.

csdeven on March 22, 2007 at 1:49 AM

Maybe, but you can’t blame it on Alan’s pathetic feeble arguing either, he rarely interacts with him after all, just the pundits, and even then its on him to perform at a certain level, and I don’t think he is. Its like watching people play Tekken or some other fighter, would you rather watch someone skillfully pick apart the other guy and KO him with a cool looking finisher, or an incidental punch by a button masher. Hannity’s a button masher. Dunno, it seemed like a fitting analogy.

Bad Candy on March 22, 2007 at 2:57 AM

Bad Candy on March 22, 2007 at 2:57 AM

Hmmmmmmm, I think I am going to have to take a little issue with this……… Your arguement, as I see it, is that Hannity has the same old talking points and Allen is feeble and pathetic.

I disagree……. Sean Hannity consistently presses the question of the day to the guests of day to the topic of the day, Allen Colmes, is pathetic, and always uses talking points, talks over guests comments, and never lets a conversation end with his little barbs “no they don’t”, “that’s not true”, “you’re wrong” right when the music is cued…..

Sean on his radio station and TV time, always invites guests like Newt, Dick Morris, MM “the boss”, and any news maker of the day to vent their point of view…….

Your arguement that he repeats himself, again, I have to say is in response to the day to day message of the MSM and the Democrat message it carries.

Let me ask you this one question.

Beside Sean Hannity, name one major TV personality, out side of FOX News, that has broadcasts any good news coming out of Iraq….. just one, outside FOx News, and provide a link.

That shouldn’t be too hard……….

PinkyBigglesworth on March 22, 2007 at 3:31 AM

Like the banner said at GoE, “They never protest the terrorists.” The only reason I’m not more pissed about this effigy is the fact that I’m not surprised a bit by it. I already knew that this is the “patriotism” of liberals, and the way they “support the troops”. I’m with the poster on LGF who said, “Two words: fragmentation grenade.”

I love it when people like Jane Fleming try to say that these scum are the “fringe” of the Democratic Party. Yeah, that’s why finding a sane patriotic Democrat is as hard as finding an American flag treated with reference at a “peace” rally. Unfortunately for the party and for America, the sane ones–the ones who are traditional Democrats–are the “fringe” these days. Which is why you can’t get anybody on their side of the aisle to condemn these bastards who insult the troops.

And speaking of Jane Fleming–sorry, Allah, but with all due respect, she’s as moonbatty as they come. Sure, she’s not hard on the eyes, but underneath she’s pure left-wing dogma. Maybe she wasn’t talking politics on RedEye, but every time I’ve seen her on any other FOX show it’s been the same old lies, spin, and Democratic talking points. But I repeat myself.

ReubenJCogburn on March 22, 2007 at 3:40 AM

Small group, eh?

Tim Burton on March 22, 2007 at 3:50 AM

Alan Colmes was extremely dishonest in his closing comment regarding John Kerry’s statement referring to abuses at Gitmo. His statement was downright dishonest and inaccurate!

Jane Flemming was also dishonest to claim that it was only because of Democrats that our troops are getting the care they need at Walter Reed Hospital! The troops have been taken care of very well. The insult comes in those who are sent off to a specific center for residence after their initial treatment. For Flemming to lie and claim that the Democrats have made sure that the troops get proper medical treatment when the Democrats not only don’t see to the troops care, but instead protest and try to short change the troops at every turn, anything to sabotage the US and President Bush and our troops for political gain!

Also, it is clear that the actions of the “Peace protesters” are anything but peaceful. They are sick and perverted, and even vile and violent. Trying to dismiss their actions as non-typical is another flat out lie and distortion! They went so far as to actually spit at soldiers!

Furthermore, Flemming’s deceit in claiming that Pro-lifers are violent is absurd! There are about one handful of abortionists who have ever been murdered by so-called pro-lifers. In reality, many abortionists and abortion personnel have been murdered by their own kind, other abortion advocates, abortion workers, their spouses, etc. Furthermore, many abortion advocates-supporters have engaged in harassment, violent attacks, coercion, and murder of women who refuse abortions, as well as against pro-life advocates.

Unlike the faux “Peace” movement, AKA the “anti-war” movement (notice they only protest against the US, not against the Islamofascist Jihadis, and their ilk), pro-lifers actually DO condemn violent assault against abortion advocates, and attacks by pro-lifers against abortion advocates and personnel are extremely rare, while the opposite, attacks perpetrated by abortion advocates and personnel and murder of pro-lifers and woman who refuse abortion are more common.

Also, and this is extremely important, since 1973, since the Roe v Wade decision, and the Doe v Bolton decision, approximately 47 million innocent human boys and girls have been slaughtered by abortionists and abortion advocates.

Where is the outrage at all THAT violence!

I found that exchange between Alan Colmes, Shaun Hannity, Michelle Malkin, and Jane Flemming distasteful and rife with lies and distortions, mainly from the mouths of Flemming and Colmes, while I found Shaun Hannity and Michelle Malkin actually speaking facts and truth, and consistent in their comments.

benrand on March 22, 2007 at 4:49 AM

That is an excellent question, but one that the media, Hollywood, and abortion advocates won’t be honest about, and don’t know about.

The way this is depicted in the media, Hollywood, and among abortion advocates, including politicians, pro-lifers are violent thugs who go around killing nurses, doctors, and woman who want to do a sacred, holy thing, exercise their freedom of choice, exercise their reproductive rights.

In reality there is little to no violence perpetrated by pro-life advocates, few murders in the entire history of the pro-life movement, and total condemnation of any violence and murder even when it is only fabricated stories perpetrated by those who hate pro-life advocacy.

There is many times more violence among abortion related proponents than pro-life advocates, but this is largely ignored by the media, Hollywood, and so on, thus keeping the masses misled and hating the pro-life movement, while painting the abortion advocates as the keepers of the kingdom of truth, love, mercy, compassion, and gentleness.

Absurd, to be sure!

Although I agree with you AP that Jane is looking Oh sooo good these days, I have to say she is so frikkin far out there that her attitude makes me want to puke, As for Colmes, Im eagerly awaiting the day Hannity blows a gasket and beats his ass right there for the cameras, its coming.. Michelle, thank you for being the voice of reason, that soldier they are burning represents to me my younger brother and it angers me beyond words.

Viper1 on March 22, 2007 at 7:22 AM

Is it ok to want to strangle Hannity more than Colmes?

Both of those dopes are irritating.

I see pro-life advocates have candle lgiht figils, where they burn candles.

I see anti-war advocates burning flags and troops in effigy.

Are these two cases similar or different?

benrand on March 22, 2007 at 7:35 AM

AP, you need a vacation.

TheBigOldDog on March 22, 2007 at 8:06 AM

Can’t you tell that’s just KP in a wig?

JohnW on March 22, 2007 at 8:32 AM

I watched this brief debate and was left with several impressions; smirk, scowl, lots of cleavage, brack dress, harsh words, burning Osama, ample cleavage, and burning flags, all on a topic of peace protests… I thought that very interesting!

IntheNet on March 22, 2007 at 8:35 AM

Love how Jane can bring up the pro-life fringe who are “very violent” and includes “even some people who kill doctors” (and just when was the last time that happened? Yet the libs mention this every chance they get) but when Michelle points out the current instances of anti-war protesters around the country burning the effigy of the U.S. Soldier and dragging the likeness of a soldier through the streets, Alan claims she’s “cherry-picking” a “small group of people.”

eucher on March 22, 2007 at 8:50 AM

you just like the cleavage. admit it.

Well, I don’t not like it.

Allahpundit on March 21, 2007 at 10:45 PM

Speaking truth to boobs!

saint kansas on March 22, 2007 at 9:01 AM

Burning effigies of soldiers . . . so, now can we question their patriotism?

The Colossus on March 21, 2007 at 11:06 PM

If you haven’t already, go check out the pics at LGF.

Look at the second one.

Is there anything left to question?

Professor Blather on March 22, 2007 at 9:05 AM

Sadly, it wouldn’t matter. She, like so many others in the “Bush lied” camp, has likely said/heard it so many times that it’s just one of those ‘Accepted Truths’ that mustn’t be questioned, even in the face of massive amounts of contrary evidence.

SisterToldjah on March 21, 2007 at 11:03 PM

Isn’t it just the most mind-boggling stupid meme the left still clings to?

It’s the absolute worst. There is no question that Bush didn’t “lie.” It’s absolutely inescapable fact. He couldn’t possibly have lied. Arguing otherwise is like swearing the sky is pink. For Bush to have lied, Clinton and Pelosi and Kerry and every major government on Earth also had to be lying. Or – Bush has super-secret psychic powers and learned what no one else knew.

It’s ridiculous. Beyond stupid. Yet they repeat it. They put it on bumper stickers. It’s like a living testament to their basic stupidity and gullibility.

I swear, even the crazy 9/11 truthers are better. At least it’s theoretically possible that a vast conspiracy launched missiles at the WTC and our eyes were lying to us.

But “Bush lied?” It’s a logical, factual certainty that the meme is silly horse manure. Yet they repeat it. Still.

Sheesh. I feel embarrassed for rational Democrats every time I see this stupid slogan. They must cringe.

Professor Blather on March 22, 2007 at 9:10 AM

The Portland Protesters made our local news. They were saying that the woman who snapped the pics (a student at a nearby university) has been criticized for taking them. They showed her and she doesn’t look anything like Karl Rove for all you people in moonbat-land who think the pics were part of the VRWC.

Spassvogel on March 22, 2007 at 2:42 AM

So …..

Burning the flag, burning a soldier in effigy, hoisting a sign that says “F*ck the troops” …. that’s all okay?

But taking a picture of all of the above …. is bad?

Interesting. Liberals are so cute.

Professor Blather on March 22, 2007 at 9:20 AM

Jane meant to say condone, but she had a freudian slip, because she knows that MM is going to nail her with the fact that the dems ARE NOT condemning these tactics.

csdeven on March 22, 2007 at 2:05 AM

I’m a day late on this thread, but that’s exactly what I was going to mention. I kept hoping Michelle or Hannity would respond with, “Of course the Democrats won’t condem these acts.”

Esthier on March 22, 2007 at 9:27 AM

Okay, I watched the video. Michelle was in rare form – I wouldn’t want her angry at me. Yikes. Very, very well done.

Fleming is an idiot. A stupid, stupid, brainless spewer of long debunked talking points. And the cleavage was way, way overrated.

So this is the new excuse? It’s just a “fringe?”

So … how many times do I have to see it until we decide its not a fringe? How many?

Do these people even SEE reality? Have they spent 5 minutes reading over at DU? Just 5 minutes?

“Reality based” community, my hairy white posterior. These folks aren’t a fringe. They’re average Democrats these days.

Professor Blather on March 22, 2007 at 9:42 AM

AP have you been watching a different Fleming? She is totally unhinged and always has been.

Wade on March 22, 2007 at 9:50 AM

Wow – there are anarchists at every protest? There were anarchists at the gathering of eagles? Michelle did you hide them from us?

And Professor – taking pictures of the even *would be* bad (and illegal) – in France. Its against the law to photograph violent acts unless you are the press.

And just a point:

When a pro-lifer kills a Doctor (hasn’t happened in years) the left smears it all over the conservative movement while the conservatives loudly condemn it as a criminal act.

When a anti-war protester burns a flag or soldier in effigy the left absolutely refuses to condemn and claims the right is ‘cherry picking’ by pointing out that they are refusing to condemn it and often march right along side the them.

And just once I would like to see someone challenge them to prove (with evidence and not talking points) that Bush lied.

CrazyFool on March 22, 2007 at 10:43 AM

Big “A” the Big “J” does nuthin’ for me.

;)

Malpaso on March 22, 2007 at 10:55 AM

I wouldn’t want her angry at me. Yikes. Very, very well done.
Professor Blather on March 22, 2007 at 9:42 AM

Can you imagine being her kid and coming home from school in trouble for something dumb? That look would make you shrivel up and blow away.

csdeven on March 22, 2007 at 11:17 AM

“Of course the Democrats won’t condem these acts.”

Esthier on March 22, 2007 at 9:27 AM

Definately a missed opportunity to nail her ass!

csdeven on March 22, 2007 at 11:18 AM

When Democratic leaders publicly and strongly condemn burning the American flag and troops in effigy they are much like the so called “moderate” Muslims who remain silent when acts of terrorissm occur.

I suppose the Militant Murfas and Turbin Durbans don’t want to offend their base.

Texas Mike on March 22, 2007 at 11:26 AM

you just like the cleavage. admit it.

lorien1973 on March 21, 2007 at 10:43 PM

Compared to classy women like Michelle and Kirsten, Jane here is a bit sleazy.

I prefer class over sleaze any day.

Lawrence on March 22, 2007 at 11:30 AM

Beside Sean Hannity, name one major TV personality, out side of FOX News, that has broadcasts any good news coming out of Iraq….. just one, outside FOx News, and provide a link.

That shouldn’t be too hard……….

PinkyBigglesworth on March 22, 2007 at 3:31 AM

You and I know that’s not possible. My point is that Alan is a pure nonfactor in my argument.

You keep coming to the point that Sean is the only one that reports the positive and issues from our side of the aisle. All true, and maybe I’m being a little harsh, and should give him more of a pass.

My point is he or we can do a hell of a lot better. Look, I get that its the same drumbeat day in and day out from the media, but you can’t let yourself fall into a rut where you literally say the EXACT same thing night after night, that’s letting them set the agenda, and you’re being reactive, not to mention the media doesn’t put out the exact verbatim message night after night, plus its poor presentation and drives people crazy, you’ll notice a lot of people have agreed with me regarding Hannity.

He’s letting the message get stale in his repetitiveness, and letting the massage get stale is the worst thing he can let happen.

Bad Candy on March 22, 2007 at 12:14 PM

Once again, Hannity enters the debate with weak arguments. There can’t be a weaker debater representing us on the TV than Hannity.
He needs to get off of his pedestal and ask Michelle how to debate and present hard hitting facts. Good grief he is weak.

right2bright on March 22, 2007 at 12:54 PM

My post was being written without reading Bad Candy. I agree Hannity’s message is weak, stale, and redundant. If it wasn’t for Michelle and her few minutes, I would completely tune Hannity out.
He gets a 15 yard penalty for being repetitive, 10 yard penalty for being stale, 10 years for being weak, and another 15 yards for not taking advice from better debaters. He ends up kicking from his own end zone, and the other team, as weak as it is, has field position.

right2bright on March 22, 2007 at 12:59 PM

Keep your eyes on the prize AP. You’re getting schooled here!

BTW, Anna Nicole had MUCH better cleavage….let’s not start putting her on a pedestal AP.

Michelle final quote is why she WILL get her own Fox(y) Program.

omnipotent on March 22, 2007 at 1:45 PM

Now, if there were more anti-war protesters like her, I may pay more attention. From Zombietime:

This single protester inspired the greatest number of passersby to seriously ponder the idea of impeachment. From all angles

TheBigOldDog on March 22, 2007 at 2:04 PM

Jane really should stick to turtlenecks.

Connie on March 22, 2007 at 2:21 PM

Wow.

I would rather face the Wrath of God, then the Wrath of Michelle ANYTIME!

Jane Fleming usually has her attitude, her arrogance, and her smirk. During a debate on FNC about Pres Bush when someone brough up his being governor of Texas, she stated that it was a pretend governorship, that Texas does not have a governor because it is an honorary office.

But, I DO thank Fleming for her cleavage.

BTW-If Michelle wore a cleavage revealing dress like Fleming wore (well, I can DREAM can’t I?), Michelle would be accused of dressing like a bimbo to attract male viewers, just like she was accused of last year. Double standards never cease.

IT IS TIME FOR MICHELLE TO GET HER OWN FNC PROGRAM…ROGER AILES, RUPERT MURDOCK! AMERICA NEEDS MICHELLE MORE THAN EVER!

The False Dervish on March 22, 2007 at 4:15 PM

Whoops…

I meant to say the Wrath of GodTHAN the Wrath of Michelle.

The False Dervish on March 22, 2007 at 4:17 PM

Fleming lost it at the end.

It’s only because of Democrats that troops at Walter Reed are being taken care of?

lol.

That was almost as rich as “we get all our information from the White House.”

Really? I didn’t know that the intelligence community was forced to filter their reports through the Executive Branch before reporting to Congress.

Hannity and Michelle are sharp…..got Fleming to out herself as another “believer.”

John from OPFOR on March 22, 2007 at 5:05 PM
