Well of course he doesn't pay his own bills...it's awfully difficult to carry around a checkbook that contains those sweepstakes-sized checks.

OK. That BP carbon footprint site is just bogus. I filled in the exact same information except changed the country and here are the results.

USA - 24
China - 18
France - 9.2

Now, perhaps France is very low because they use a lot of nuclear power. But what about China?! Surely it should be higher there because nearly everything is coal-powered. I’m calling BS. I think it’s rigged to lay more guilt on Americans.

What, you're surprised? Don't you realize that America is the only country that is contributing to global warming at a rate that really matters?

The 15,000-square-foot “recreation building,” with its swimming pool, basketball and squash courts, bedroom, bathrooms, and kitchen is still under construction.

What, no bowling alley? I thought every kid's fantasy house had a bowling alley!

Liar.

Me: 2,500 sf in central Texas--about $200/mo in winter, $400+ at height of summer (14 cents per kwh)

I have a home office, so everything's on all the time--A/C, computers, lights, etc. But still...

No way 10,000 sf is only $300-$400/mo at any time of the year in any part of the country!

I'm a 12 according to BP. But since I claim all "carbon footprints" not being used by those not brought into this world through abortion, I will be in the negative for the rest of my life.

Even if I buy a Hummer, Ferrari F355 and turn my heat up in winter and the air conditioning down in summer. Even if I run around the world in my own G5.

I only contribute ~0.0000000001% of the 4% overall mankind produces anyway. Up yours algore!

Could be. My house is nowhere near 10,000 sq/ft, but we close off rooms in the winter to reduce the heat bill. Maybe the pony and his family are all sleeping in one room together.

With the size of the Pony property, all the construction going on, and all of the amenities he has, somehow I doubt the Ponies try to conserve anything. I venture to guess that the Pony mansion is more like a perpetual party palace - bright lights, lots of people, lots of food and drink, tons of cars and SUVs parked out front, and Pony right in the center of it all.

I have a 1200 sqft apartment in Raleigh, and my bill last month was $90. This man's mouth is moving, so obviously, he's lying. Come on, people.

I don’t believe him for a minute.

RightWinged is right. Those qualifying words about his bill, last one I saw give him plenty of wiggle room. He’s probably had a secretary/accountant who has been responsible for paying month to month bills for years. Who knows when was the last time he actually saw his utility bills?

Of course. I mean, in a lot of households only one spouse does the bills anyway.... But when you're as rich as this guy, does anyone honestly think he or his wife are sitting down at the table with reading glasses on and a checkbook out, paying bills, comparing the electric to the meter when it seems a little high, haggling over the cable promo when it ended earlier than expected, etc. I'm not even saying there's anything wrong with being too rich to care or pay attention to your bills, but it's clear how evassive he was and then when cornered saying "the last one I saw", that could mean anything, and anyone with an ounce of common sense can see that he's totally lying.

He's totally lying. Another "do as I say, not as I do" politician. Carbon offsets are nothing but guilt-killers for the rich. So far, only Tom York of Radiohead has come forward and admitted he's an environmental hypocrite.

OHHHH... I just figured it out...

He said the LAST BILL HE SAW!!!!

He's probably right... cause the last bill he saw was probably 20 years ago... you know, before he abused the legal system and became a millionaire...

Cause you think he actualy pays his own bills???

Plausible deniability.

He does travel a lot, there’s no need for a lot of lights or appliances when no one is home but the maid. Eat out, send out the laundry, have the salon at the airport blow dry your hair…your energy usage gets pawned off on someone’s business.

Someone’s business that’s going to get taxed out of existance via Kyoto…

Radish on March 20, 2007 at 4:15 PM

If I had any pull here, I'd nominate that as comment of the day.

The only way he’s telling the truth is if he is looking only at his bills during a month where it was 72 degrees outside all the time, and no one in his house cooked or took a bath or a shower or washed clothes.

He does travel a lot, there's no need for a lot of lights or appliances when no one is home but the maid. Eat out, send out the laundry, have the salon at the airport blow dry your hair...your energy usage gets pawned off on someone's business.

Someone's business that's going to get taxed out of existance via Kyoto...

He is a friggin liar…..or on the energy providers xmas card list.

I have a 2000sq Texas everyhouse. Plenty for me and the wify. Our bill averages about 200 (125 winter….300 summer). That of course doesn’t even count the gas bill. Pony is a liar unless he is using candle wax and imitation bear blankets in the winter and fan-workers in the summer.

Ditto.

2k square feet of new construction here in Houston, electricity bill runs from about $150 winter to $300-350 August.

He's a lying bag of crap.

Oh, I'm at 14 tons. I'm auctioning my extra 4 tons to the highest bidder. Bidding starts at $75 per ton per month.

BTW, my 2,300 sqft house in Florida, costs around $200 a month for electricity. I turn the lights off when leaving rooms, and use the air conditioner as least as bearably possible. So, I'm skeptical.

$300-$400 for a 10,000 square foot home??? No way. That can’t be possible....

Could be. My house is nowhere near 10,000 sq/ft, but we close off rooms in the winter to reduce the heat bill. Maybe the pony and his family are all sleeping in one room together.
